KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!

This would KICKASS. However, I think the idea of "points" in the sense you're talking about are really cheesy. A better thing might be to have weapons spawn randomly onboard the ship, with respawn times varying depending on their power or impotance (ie Plasma Pistols would take maybe 10 secons to respawn whereas snipers or rockets would take a few minutes to come back.)

I also think with something this massive, you should incorporate every gametype into it, not just slayer and assault.

I share pies.

Sounds like fantastic fun. I would really love to play this.

However: Having read these forums for several years now, I believe this would be too ambitious, it sounds epic, too epic for Bungie & Halo. The design teams are lazy, it took them nearly a decade to finally re-incorporate the pistol, input a survival mode game (firefight) and sort out the multi player ranking system & deal with cheaters...Unless this idea gets 50,000+ Hits, votes and views, it shall never be noticed.

This is also totally contrary to Halo game mechanics, so much so, it would need an entirely difference version of Halo or another FPS.

In fact, such a game already exists which utilises the same ideas, although I find it a much worse game to play, this game is called: Battlefield 2142....

Sorry for the pessimism, but it's too complex & ambitious.

We'll know if we get close if Bungie ever let us use a pelican in game, to drop troops off.

This is a long way off though - they won't even allow troop carrying warthogs in Halo 3, which I cannot think of as to why...

Nevertheless, I would be extremely happy if this ever came to fruition, Hell, I would even buy it as an expansion pack! But the only faith I have left in the Bungie team is with Marty & his music.

What if there was a piece of equipment that you throw at the ground and it opens up a one way teleporter back up to the ship so you can get a gun mid game and then you just get another HEV pod down.

Also what if say it was 20 vs 20...15 from each team come in and the other five from each team spectate for maybe 3 minutes and come down in a pelican.

With the HEV pod idea i think there should be a small amount of control as to were the pod goes.

Its a lot like Battlefield Bad Company

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

I read the first four paragraphs and liked it.

Dude I don't care and my grammer is perfect.I used "Big", as you recall it to mak is specific."to not do...",is incorrect beause "do" is present tense/perfect(or future) when it was a past tense.

The only part that appeals to me is the ginormous, all purpose map.

I HAVE AN EPIC IDEA.

How about each team is assigned a "Monitor" that is indestructable, but cannot do damage. He can create weapons/vehicles/equipment at a whim through the points earned by the team. However, it's not like Forge mode, but more like Halo Wars. He selects a vehicle to appear, and it will rise up in a designated platform shortly. Or a Pelican/Longsword does a runby and drops a few weapon pods or HEVs filled with weapons.

That woud defeat the purpose of a squad leader. Please read the other posts.

also i just thought about the 200 kills and the bomb at, what about at 400 you get forerunner sentinels to help you and your squad leader/VIP can bring up a special menu to control them by holding RB or something???

and then the score becomes 750/1000

i like it but it is very unlikely, the more people u have, the more connections u depend on. it might be just too expensive.

This sounds like MAG...

That is a cool idea but it would take SO much programming. And it would also be very difficult to keep lag at bay with such big teams. I think it would also work if you had social skirmish sized teams. Which as you said would be squad based and the games can include several objectives. For example, you have to get in the hill for a set time and then once you have controlled it for that set time an oddball spawns in the enemy base which only your team can grab and once you have held for a set time then your team needs to score 40 kills with each team member scoring at least 8 points each.

  • 09.08.2009 4:44 AM PDT

if it were 20 v 20 it would lag like hell!

  • 09.08.2009 4:52 AM PDT

duh thats why he said about dedicated servers due to LAG!

  • 09.09.2009 12:29 PM PDT

also i suppose it could be an entireley new disc like h3 mythic that comes with halo ODST but more dedicated to this particular gametype

  • 09.09.2009 12:35 PM PDT

This gametype is a very cool idea ;)

  • 09.09.2009 12:54 PM PDT

I didn't go through all the pages, but i think it would be awesome if it was like *** points for doing a special thing. Such as first team to 200, and then the enemy team has a flag that the other team should take etc, just like mentioned by OP.

There could be VIP's that you get 3 points for. Example: 1 Kill = 1 Point, Killing a VIP = 3 points, downing a special vehicle such as: tank, hornet, would give 4 points, downing something easier as a warthog would give 2 points (with driver ofc).
Or maybe if you get 1 point for destroying a vehicle and then +1 for every enemy inside it.

It would also be cool if both teams had 1 MAIN base each, and then there was like 4 MINI bases PER team. Every main base would have ONE normal bomb (like those in assault gametype) that spawns every 5 minute. These bombs you could plant in the smaller bases to get 10 points per base destroyed, when you have destroyed all of their mini-bases the team would get an additional of like 30 points or so, when you're team has 200 points it spawns a bigger bomb in you're base that you need some type of escort vehicle to get to the enemy MAIN base to blow it up and finally win the game.

I don't really like the ideas of pods flying down being able to destroy vehicles on the way down, just too complicated imo. It would be cool tho that after you've been in the Dropship for, let's say 30 seconds, you get kicked out of it and get launched down.

IMO the best weps to spawn with would just be a simple BR and an Assault Rifle.

Just a few ideas :).

No, I would assume that after the first pelican drop, you would spawn on the map. Not in a UNSC flying spacecraft. Respawning inside a spacecraft would take too much time out of the fast paced halo multiplayer experience. Only at the start of the match should players start in a UNSC warship... maybe a ship much similar to The Pillar of Autumn, but, obviously in smaller scale, and with less hallways, and more organized and straight forward... It could have an armory, and drop pods like in Halo 1, or Pelican drop ships... That is an interesting idea.

Players who choose to play as the covenant, could start in a similar Covenant warship at the beginning of the match, and once again, one the players died would respawn on the map.

To re-introduce the idea of the point/money system, (I feel I need to stress this part a little more, because from what I have read, readers have overlooked this major detail...) each kill would earn a (single) player (not points/money earned as a team) some points/money that he or she could use to order drop pods stocked with weapons, or vehicle drops to specific locations, should the player choose to order such a drop.

As for those of you who are saying that this idea was stolen from the section 8 demo, I ensure you that the idea is original. It was not my idea, but it certainly is origninal. 100%. If you do not believe me, look at the date of original post. The person who originally posted this thread posted before the "section 8" demo was even released over X-Box LIVE. Also, there are many differences between what has been discussed within this thread, and that of the gameplay within the "section 8" game. Take for example... You actually start out in a warship, you have so long to walk around, choose your weapons and gear, and then you drop in either pods, or other spacecrafts... You are not just some dude dropping down in an armoured suit.
