the map would have to be unrealistcally big....and play to around 200 kills. not even to mention the lag...there is no such server to support that many people in a single game, say that all of them are ripping carnage...

believe me, its possible

@Hawkeye4488

Good idea, i like it, i created a general idea on this page thing of the "In Map" layout.

I am a proud Xbox Live gamer and am a slave to Bungie's wonders. I recently joined the Black Water Ops group on the Bungie.net and am loving every second of it. I also am a heavy gamer of other FPS games. I have all H3 acheivements and working on ODST. I usually am playing MW2 or H3

I love to idea but it seems impossible or like the already amazing Invasion on steriods

  • 08.23.2010 8:02 PM PDT

heck, we could probably fit invasion into this gametype too, heck, we can probably fit anything into it can't we.....of course, not the BR

This is not even really close to invasion.

1) Elites vs Elites or Spartans vs Spartans.
2) Has every game-type in it pretty much, not just objectives.
3) Drop system.
4) Pelicans or phantoms.

The only similarity is how it would need more people and big maps.

  • 08.24.2010 6:49 AM PDT

Come on Bungie this sounds brilliant and with everyone coming up with improvements for this, this should be bought out as free DLC for reach along with 4 other fan made gametypes.

  • 08.24.2010 2:15 PM PDT

Also it wouldn't be impossible if everyone download reach to their hard drive, so the game would run smoother and faster.

This gametype = Invasion.

Jesus where did the IQ go?

The Title would probably need to be something like "Skirmish",or "Battlegrounds".

  • 08.24.2010 9:55 PM PDT

"Feet first into Hell" - ODST's.

Sounds like Invasion, just bigger.. and cooler :P

  • 08.24.2010 11:30 PM PDT

I am going to download aswell, cause forge will probably have long load times and this is goona be the biggest game of 2010 and everyone will be going on XBL

Or you could have a 45 second time limit to leave the cruiser. Other wise you die, loose all your points from that round and it adds 5 seconds to your respawn time each time you do it. So next time you die you'll have about 8 seconds. And if you stay in the cruiser too long again, you'll be up at 13 seconds, and it builds from there on. Something like that so one team doesn't get tons of points and then hide in the cruiser.
Yeah another good idea. Like I said there are many problems with this idea, but there would always be an alternative.

EDIT: to the second part of your post, maybe your teammates can see the weapons, but they wouldn't be able to take them.
Or you have to go through a checkpoint with a marine guy who you hand your point card.

  • 08.25.2010 12:59 AM PDT

I think it would be fun to have the cruiser to directly engage ground forces with mounted guns. And to make it fair the guns can be destroyed.

  • 08.25.2010 8:21 AM PDT

i leik tu plai galo, eet es fan.
haturz cul hailo -blam!-, soo galo.
soo i cul hailo galo tu shuw dem i dun caer

I hoped you enjoyed the time you wasted reading that.

Maybe like BattleField 2142 where at the back of the Titan hanger there are 6 computers. 4 computer for mounted guns on the bottom and 2 for chain guns on the top. Except we'd get rid of the chain guns on top.

Although that poses the question of user controlled turrets or AI controlled turrets?

I suppose with user controlled turrets there's the problem that people wont always want to use them when they're needed criticaly for support. Although humans would know what targets to attack, such as a human would see 2 guys and then a warthog with 3 people. The human would go for the hog which is further away but the AI would go for the infantry because they are closer, resulting in the enemy still have a powerful vehicle.

sorry but no, not for halo. It is a good idea but its not halo. I think the cruiser should just be for dropping in.

1) You started in a hangar or base (outside of map then you either drive or take a pelican to the map) after the initial spawn. This areas has every vehicle (UNSC for the Spartans and Covenant for the Elites) and you use points you get in game to buy vehicles in certain spots. However, there is a limit for each type of vehicle and a cool down for each spot.

2) Your team unlocks loadouts together and each loadout would have a certain limit per team to avoid over use of a rocket class or such.

3) You can call in vehicle drops/weapon drops "In Map".

3) 250 kills needed to unlock the bomb which you then take the bomb to the enemy's "In Map" main base and it then blows up. This then opens a room with a flag in the middle. You then take the flag back to your base to win.

4) Instead of Elites vs Spartans it would be Spartans vs Spartans or Elites vs Elites.

6) There are some vehicles and weapons and AA's "In Map" around it but the majority are at the bases.

7) One person on the team spawns as the leader (V.I.P.) He gives you a bonus for staying near him and extra points for killing people while you are near the leader or killing the other teams leader

8) If the leader dies a new player will become the leader.

9) The map is about 1/3 as wide as it is long.

10) Points are like firefight points but with a few more.

11) 1-2 pelicans at "Out of Map" hangar.

12) Squad system where you and four other can communicate with each other and the leader (everything you say no matter what the leader hears)

13) For every kill or death your spawn time changes (morale).

14) 3-5 maps with same concept but a different feel.

15) In the middle of each map their are two skulls. Holding these skulls will give your entire team points. The restrictions are no going into bases and you have a waypoint on you.

16) If you die while waiting for your drop, it still will be dropped.

17) If someone leaves and AI joins themselves, the leader will control these AI's and can tell them to attack a base or defend a base.

18) The team only affects vehicle limit, loadout limit, loadouts available.

19) Maps are even on each side but not symmetrical.

20) This game will be either ranked or social so there can be a decision between guests or not.

21) If one team is getting wrecked by another team, they will have a small boost to give them an advantage to maybe get back in the game.

22) A few dedicated servers.

23) Another spawn in space on a cruiser. Here you can drop in the map.

24) The drop system would be that you spawn in the ship. You then go into a drop pod and an overview of your side shows up. After that you select the drop location and the you drop into the map (you can not move in this process). Once landed, you will have to wait 3 seconds before the door opens.

25) This is for "In Map". Each side would have 1 large bases at the back of the map. Then there would also be 2-3 extra bases on the side to be captured and controlled. 2-4 ground entrances per base.

26) Some vehicles and weapons. (Mainly standard weapons with a few power weapons).

27) You can not drop into a base.

28) If the enemy is in your base you can not spawn in it.

29) Every 5 minutes or so a hill would spawn around the middle. This gives you points and once it is deactivated, everyone in the hill gets full ammo and health.

30) Once a base is considered captured, another teammate has to enter before you team can spawn in it.

31) The cruiser will allow 1-2 people see an overview of your side of the map and relay info to team.

32) You are only able to drop on your half of the map.

33) The weapons will come in drop pods similar to halo 3.

34) You can call in only light vehicles so no scorpions or falcons.

35) Once "In Map", you can not leave.

36) Drop pods can kill.

37) AA's: All regulars with maybe a few extras that are game-type specific.

38) Everyone enters game with 0 points.

39) Vehicles and weapons spawn on map at start.

40) D-pad control for com:
up- squad and leader
left-near teammates and previous^
down- All team and previous^

41) Time limit of 20-30 minutes. After that based off of how far along in the objectives the team is. (For the Slayer, Assault, and CTF portions). If they are tied they go into a sudden death "In Map" and can no longer call in drops and only can use the regular loadouts and use the vehicles and weapons that are already on map. First to 100 kills, one detonation, or one capture depending on where both teams were. No secondary objectives in this.

42) You only spawn in the cruiser at initial spawn and after that ever 5th death.

43) Spawn time limit of 3-10 seconds. (starts at 6)

44) You can join either and active or new game if you want. (active can join in any)

45) If someone gets on a 10-15 spree they unlock a juggernaut class for themselves. They then have 2x overshield but have a waypoint. Same points like everything else.

Here you go everyone.

  • 08.25.2010 1:07 PM PDT

alright, hmm, some of these are a bit "iffy"...for drop pods, it was originally intended that the only time you drop is at the beginning of the game, as if you drop mid-game, you could be picked off before you even get out of your pod, because as soon as the door blows off, you're vulnerable. its best to keep it at the beginning, and only the beginning.

still not sure about the morale idea, there is a limit to how many ideas you can add to a game, to the point where it's still fun, I think its best to jut keep it normal, but maybe it could work for the Commander, they are slghtly more powerful than the other infantry troops, and therefore should spawn less often. Or maybe after he/she dies, there is't another Commander for the next 3 seconds.

Juggernaut...hmm, many people get spree's by camping, and we don't want to encourage that, so maybe it should make them slightly more vulnerable, like instad of 100% damage resistance it'll be 90%, or maybe even 75%. I'm gonna call this the Spree Bonus, keep in mind they still have a waypoint, now the next "X" kills have extra points to them. We'll discus this further soon, onto a new idea...

For all of you who read "Ender's Game" this ones for you, there is a Commander who leads each team, but each squad, or Platoon...has a leader as well. The Commander is in charge of where each Platoon goes, the Commander has a map, of the map, where they would mark which direction that Platoon should go, each is personalized, and Platoon A would get a waypoint for where they should go. This idea is still in development, and even I'm leading towards not using it, of course it could be used for strategy...perhaps another game mode

  • 08.25.2010 7:23 PM PDT

Yeah most of these were just ideas and yeah that sounds like a different type of game. The spawn time i know is something that is iffy but just thought id through it out there. The commander idea is also very good and I will definitely thing about that. The drop system was something i did like. Maybe you have a choice to spawn their every 5th death and that is a risk your willing to take. Ok, i like the spree bonus thing, and a waypoint would definitely be needed.
