i like the idea, but the weapons (my opinion) just should be like this: The weapon stash is always open, and when you get enough kills, you can take the weapon.. BUT what if someone unlocks the Rocket launcher? That wouldn't be a good idea...
By the way, why put it in the main menu, why not just in matchmaking? It's just a different game mode thats all.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 can have 32 people playing, and I they used to have 64 person servers, so I think it's doable.

I think it would be cool to start off with territories, and whatever territories your team captures then serve as your possible spawn locations when the slayer tier begins (after all territories are captured). Territories should be harder to cap, 30 seconds or so, and should be flexible until they are all capped. That way, one team could work their butts off right at the beginning and get a small advantage because certain weapons would spawn at certain captured territories (sniper, shotty, concussor, etc.). Then Slayer begins, with vehicles spawning at the rear bases (dedicated bases, not able to be captured during territories). It would be really sweet if the pelican and spirit and phantom were driveable, and you could carry like 14 people in it, and drop them all off at a single base to take it over or something.

Bungie, you really can't ignore this topic, it's gotten over 10,000 posts, and counting... Even though it's not going to be in the game when it first comes out, that doesn't mean it can't be an add-on. Dream big, you could be making tons more money off this if it was an add on...

This is a fantastic idea and I will try and help you make a cool map.But I don't like the part when you said something about the weapon shop.I am good at forge and I hold alot of custom game lobbys so if you need any help I will be pleased to help.Gamertag:strebi119

Awesome idea dude! I like it a lot... it would be also cool if the fight would be 20 Spartans vs 20 Elites and the Elites start in a covenant cruiser, and the spartans in the UNSC cruiser. Also, it would be better if everybody has the right to be in the cruiser only one minute. Why? Well, imagine that one team has 150 points, and the other team 200, but what if that team with 200 points stays in the cruiser and doesn't wants to get out? The other team wouldn't be able to win. They will only be able to get out the game and then lose...

  • 09.09.2010 3:07 AM PDT

really like the idea but same as all ideas it has a few flaws

it would be good if you left the ships via drop pods and the enemy team has to plant the bomb on your ship. they could call in a transport up a certain part of the ship, it can only be called in from a certain place and only when the bomb has been unlocked and they can only access a certain part of the ship so they cant spawn kill you.

it would also be good if you could unlock 1 fire of a covenant super weapon or a unsc bombing attack like you see on one of the trailers, they would be only used once per person and has a 2 minute cooldown time until it can be used again by anyone.

I agree. This is a really cool idea. 20 v 20 or maybe even more, would be a GREAT experience for halo! I have faith in xbox, I think it could happen. (although I've had mine for three years and it hasn't RROD'd yet, so maybe not in my case because my time could be running out XD)

  • 09.09.2010 12:23 PM PDT

I can sh.it a jelly doughnut...

It would def. be sweet if they added a forerunner faction to this, so it could be so it could be like 10v10v10

halo reach in 4 days 6 hours 58 minutes

  • 09.09.2010 3:01 PM PDT

when enemies rise to the top summit, I emerge from the sky to slaughter them one at a time until all is regained

personly yes because one reason. bungie never realy puts in all veichles and to have all of that it would be like a full scaled war you can have snipe towers and fortress, you could probaly have falcons you could do capture the flag that would just be awsome a world war of falcons landing and picking up the people who got the flag. to maybe invasion now that would be beast

  • 09.09.2010 3:31 PM PDT

Unleash The B3ast

But the game is already being copied on to disk so they cant put it on. But they can do wat battlefield 2 did and make this a DLC

So you spawn in the cruiser, but instead of going straight down, you go to a weapons shop. With those points you can buy a secondary weapon. Now I bet the thing I just said probably made 50% of the Halo Reach forum's population get mad, but just bare with me. These weapons would be expensive, so even though you got 10 kills, maybe you only have enough points for a Battle Rifle, or Carbine. In order for you to get a sniper, you would have to have way more points. However to keep it fair you can only buy 1 weapon at a time, so you can't go down with a sniper and rockets. Don't worry though, there will still be weapons on the map.

Some additions I have that might be useful:

When you buy your weapon, you should have the choice of buying a "warranty" so that if you die, you can have a reduced price next time (of course it is dependent on how much you want to pay) For example, paying 10 points would save you 50 next time, idk the exact scale that should be used.

Oh and of course, the cruiser thing shouldn't be a "safe zone" unless you put on a time limit, or make it so that the pods drop and respawn at certain intervals, so that if you miss it, you have to wait for the next time. I remember playing a Halo: CE mod that was kind of similar to your idea, I can actually visualize it. PM me if you would like to know more about it.

Other than that, this seems like an INSANE gametype. But the wait should be a lot higher to find a person who's internet can support 40 people >.< or instead, the community can set up their own dedicated servers. That way, if you WANTED, you could possibly pay like 10 ms points or something to go into a lag-free dedicated server/lobby. Like I said, I don't know how it would work out. Also, the rounds should be based on the hosts choice (which should be limited of course, or upon a poll of the players)

I thought of something to add on to the squad part. I think maybe that only your own squad can pool in the points, to buy some heavy weapons or a warthog for example. And if they DID spawn some weapon, each member of the team can get one too for free, or maybe at a lower price. Man, I can actually picture this happening! I would be willing to pay half the price of the game itself just for this. Just one point... If you do use the point spending thing, then at the end of the game, the points should be the total EARNED not the ones left over.

Check out my Forge Handbook blog at http://forge-life.blogspot.com for everything you could possibly need to know about the technical aspect of using Forge 2.0.

The Guide is nearly complete, but there is always room for new submissions, so remember to check back.

A few revisions that seem more applicable to how the game developed:

The "Weapon Shop/Armory" would be better manifested as Loadouts unlocked by getting a certain number of points in the "Campaign Scoring" Style for each specific person.

The same way new Tiers are unlocked in Invasion would be how new vehicles would be made to spawn and respawn.

Spawning choices were added into the gameplay already, sticking with the model from the beta for Invasion and Invasion Slayer, or the refined model that will be present in the final build of the game, would seem pertinent.

To be honest, modifying an Invasion Gametype for use on Custom-made (HUGE) maps in Forge World (or the huge and empty/flat map, along the lines of the attic-ish area of sandbox minus the lack of floor, that I'm sure is in the mix or works), could make this Idea a reality. The only major thing that wouldn't happen would be the 20 v 20 games. I also understand that stealing a device after deactivating a few barriers isn't the same as getting massive numbers of kills and then blowing their base to kingdom come and that we might not even be able to create our own Invasion Maps due to the seemingly required placement of the "escape-phantom."

In lieu of being able to directly embed a Campaign Scoring Style points system or to be able to further make it applicable to single persons, one could then, in the gametype settings, apply bonuses for sprees, leader kills, assassinations, headshots, etc. This would, in effect, cause Tiers to be earned in a style that would easily reflect the truly wanted system. One thing that would have to change if this were to be implemented would be the number of points needed to win, or, at least, advance Tiers. Remember that the game does not advance via kills, but the points those kills earn (Kills in Reach can be set to be worth, both positive and negative, 1,2,5,10 and 0 points, so can betrayals, suicides and all bonuses). This being said, I would most likely advance the required points from 200-250 to 400-500 (the maximum).

I really do hope that Bungie decides to take this and develop it with their vast toolbox, as it far outshines anything we would be able to do with the tools they have given us, but if they do not, or until they do, I don't think we sholud have to live on air. I thank the original poster and those who provided ideas along the path for inspiration, and will be making note of them in the descriptions of the Custom Content.

I will be developing said gametype and, if possible, maps, starting the day that Reach is released in the early afternoon, Central Time (as if it matters). My GT is The Ardly374, same as my UN here. Message me here on Bungie.net if you would like to be involved or would like to receive notice when something is finished and I will do my best to make that happen.

No offence, but NO DUH. Not trolling, but it's what were all thinking. I mean the part about the DLC, not the NO DUH part...

"Were it so easy?"

Im going to say no...just because it sounds like a really over complex Invasion, also the game could potentially last for so long it would get boring. Just my opinion.

I will place my knife between the notches of his spine, and my boot between his jaws. - ME!!! ><

Or it could be like -blam!- zombies where all the weapons are like on a wall so its like 100 points for an assault riffle 200 for DMR and so on.
