Halo player since 2002.
"Ignorance is Bliss"

There will never be a perfect map. You can never have perfect object placement, weapon placement, or spawn placement. People will always find a way to exploit it and find camping spots that give them an unfair advantage. And 20 vs 20 seems like wayy too much. It's way too much action, really, for one map. Even in Forge World, it's a bit too much.

I'm not for the idea, but if you tweaked a few things it could be a pretty good gametype. :)

LEO

I think its epic, just having a area for snipers and every other weapons, GOOD IDEA MATE!!

I'm not sure I like the weapon purchasing, I think you could modify the tiers of loadouts like Invasion does. The think I like most about Invasion is that I can really focus on the objectives instead of kills, and if I am focusing on killing it's usually funneled to an objective and I'm helping my team either way.

"The Perfect Map" I think of mainly Headlong and Waterworks, Containment too but not so much. Halo 3 didn't really have any good BTB maps.

I remember having long nights of BTB with my party of friends in H2 that filled our team, and the coordination that was usually needed to win a match. Instead of racing to power weapons we would have predetermined roles, i.e. banshee pilot, tank pilot, rocket rusher, sniper, hog/ghost guys etc. It's too bad most of my friends migrated to pc gaming or don't play games too much anymore. It would be really cool to see this come back, I'm really getting sick of everyone voting for things like SWAT, Infection, and Race when I wan't a game that requires some coordination besides typical baiting/assists/locations against evenly matched opponents.

This would definitely be a good game type. I think that it would give it an intense feeling of being in battle having the pelicans dropping of gear to those who bought it with their points. I hope Bungie allows this to happen for you one day.

the shopping idea can be improved
how about being able to share cr with allies so u can pay for a weapon they couldn't alone
or vice versa
also the idea would follow with armor abilities
another idea would being able to "borrow" covenent shields
the cover ones
except they have a damage counter till they break
as for the pelican drop how about the select/back button it isn't used for anything really anyway.
or being able to purchase armor upgrades to make ure abilites last longer or do more damage or take more hits from certain weapons

I'd call in a Pelican to drop a Pelican.

  • 09.23.2010 2:10 PM PDT

I like the Idea but you could probably set it up like and invasion mode for weopons and stuff like once u get the 200 kills it opens up more options and then there would have to be two cruisers and a way to get the bomb to each one like a grav lift or a cruiser that everyone could take or instead of 2 unsc cruisers have 1 UNSC and one covenant cruiser and put the covenant on the defence and once the spartans hav 200 pionts and then they get the bomb and when the elites hav 200 the rounds over but it would be awsome

I am the Kirbler.

I'd rather see the shopping idea removed entirely. However, maybe have a Battlefield 2-esque system, where you have multiple 4 or 5 man squads. And maybe one Commander. All squad leaders can request artillery and vehicle and weapon drops, which can be granted by the Commander. The Commander can place supplies or artillery anywhere on the map (aside from the enemy base), unless the corresponding side they're on need to rearm and restock. Also, the squad leaders and Commander should be able to place waypoints.
The whole team slayer thing, IMO, isn't a well thought out plan. You should have it as follows: Everyone drops into battle via HEV or Covie HEV. After that all future spawning occurs at bases the teams take, but unlike in Territories, you can take bases back. After going around the map, scarabs firing, and Elephants hauling, and get 200 kills in the middle of it all, you will get an even larger area of the map to play on.
Now, you will be tasked with taking more places for the Covenant/UNSC, all the while holding the same area you were in before. You will have to protect someone carrying an MFDD, and get them to a Covenant Carrier (or UNSC Frigate). Once they throw the bomb, you have to minutes to either A.) Diffuse the MFDD if it's in your ship or B.)As the people who put the MFDD in the enemy ship, get all your team the hell out of there in 2 minutes.
It still has some flaws, but it seems better than random killing, than assault. Adding Territories while doing both gives it more meaning.

Lockdown

A map for the classic gametype "Cops n' Robbers". Fun to play with friends. If you enjoyed the map please like it so others can see it.

Its quite unfortunate bungie would never release anything like this. They havent even put conquest in matchmaking. Sometimes I feel like they never listen =(

  • 09.23.2010 8:12 PM PDT

I am the Kirbler.

True. They seem to never listen to our ideas of DLC, of Forge, and of new gametypes. But if we make ourselves heard, however we can, Bungie may listen. But look what happened to LTG.

Game type sounds great i also want to be able to choose swat. all the time

This Gametype sounds realistic, and is just the twist Halo needs to redistinguish itself and push off all the other shooters that have been rising to the top recently. I'd pay for this. But I'm not sure Bungie is up to it.

"No hunter of the sky should die as prey. Better to die on the wing than on the ground..."

many say the xbox wont be able to handle the game type.
unfortunately that is true. the xbox is one of the older consoles. any who are still using 360s from a few years ago (myself included) would put extreme stress on their console. the new 360 might have fixed the red ring, but the old one...

could make it like a shield door....like the hanger bays on covie ships? so you can only walk through it with so many points?

  • 09.24.2010 7:42 AM PDT

sick man

  • 09.24.2010 8:11 AM PDT

heres an idea... randomly thought of this.. maybe bungie could make a world... yes an entire planet where players go to fight in a huge battle planet wide... and there will be space fights and it could be like the fall of reach MULTILAYER! lol idk its just a thought

if fantasy star universe is capable on older xbox's then this would be too... remember its a dedicated server, not P2P hosting

This concept is sounds just like bf2142's titan mode. Start in a huge a ship, use pods, jumping or air vehicles to get to the ground and take control of points. The other team does the same. Once the contorl points wear down the enemies ship's shield. Once the shields are down, u have to board the enemy ship, destroy some consoles that lead to the core and destroy the core to win.

It's a great idea.

I would change, as you anticipated, the part where we go and buy weapons with our points. Inside the Cruiser, there are numerous weapon stashes locked in chain-linked fences that become available every time you get a certain number of kills.

Each weapon stash, depending on how easy it is to unlock, would hold specific weapons (the stash that requires 100 points would hold ARs, Maulers, SMGs, and Frag Grenades. The last one that requires 100,000 points would hold a Spartan Laser, a few Swords, and a Missile Pod) These are just examples.

Ex. You get 10 kills (as you said) and imagine those 10 kills scored you 100 points. In order to open the first chain-linked fence to get to the first weapon stash, you need 150 points. Once you have 150 points, you can walk up to any of the stashes that require 150 points or less to unlock, and unlock it.

You bring up some good ideas.

this would be an awsome idea if instead there is a cache your WHOLE TEAM has to fill to unlock a respawning (obviously slow) weapons cache... EX:

theres a cache with a assult/sniper/RL for 200, while a cache with a RL/SPLZ/energy sword would be 500, and you would continually put in points to gain weps, but your points drag over from cache to cache, so some noob doesnt "accidentally" buy a pistol and a Assult rifle, you just carry over points, but someone has to actually go up and buy the cache.
----------------------
also, you should have INDV points that you could use to have wep drops (similar to vehicle idea), except that its only 15 seconds and the pelicans/phantoms can be shot down with rl/splz/frg/plasma pistol (temporary)/ or the target locator (KABOOOOOM)

Play the Halo games, play till' you dead. if you say ps3 betta, i'll shoot you in the head.

the thing is you dont need to get a weapon if you dont need too or want too. i like the vehicle care package idea. perfect gametype. but the gametype should just be in the matchmaking lobby. not get its own. but if it did it should be called something simple like battlefield or warzone it could also be the update of invasion. great idea.

the back button cant be used for the care package thing it's used for showing score. but you could do up on the d-pad. only used in forge. i think it should be any button on the d-pad

You're either first or you're last.

You'll never amount to anything, go back under your bridge.

Would you like this new game mode

By new game mode I mean the perfect game.

Of course everyone would, it's just not possible though.

  • 09.24.2010 7:12 PM PDT

Yea.. I think your idea is what Bungie was attempting to procreate into Halo -- You gotta remember these guys took over the storyline... Kinda why, they are familiarising their self to the title...

They have done a superb job on the multiplayer - The story is kinda....... There, yea its just there... But the Multiplayer is quick-paced and fun to play.

I've been thinking about making a level with a destructible super ship. BUT I would probably only have enough pieces to make only one...
If you look over the game modes you can create -- you could make an invasion style game play. Make one big ship that is destructible.
Yes, you can make a destructable ship, you just have to work around balance and corresponding objects.. With a concept of: making a ship using a deck of cards, but couple pieces would have to be, fixed -- The destructable explosives -- Can be fixed... once they blow up, everything falls apart. I've tinkered with the explosives, and you can place them as phased so they hover, and they can balance objects on top of them...

Once you make a Core of destructable objects... You would have to do a balancing task, because -- in order for objects to fall apart they would have to be in normal mode and not phased.
Balancing objects on explosives is possible, but very- very difficult and time consuming..
