Instead of buying weapons on a cruiser, I think thee player should be able to call in weapon drops and such.
If you hold the Y button, you pull out a Drop Zone Locater that can be used like the Target Locater in Reach to designate a spot for a drop. After pulling out the weapon and selecting a target, a menu comes up where the player can choose what the drop is going to be.
Options for drops could be,
-weapon packs
-vehicles
-health and ammo
-armor abilities (if you dont start with them)
-artillery (MAC blast or wraith barrage)
-emp (maybe)
-air support (maybe) (pelican or phantom)
This sounds like a really fun game, and although Invasion was somewhat like this, hopefully Bungie incorporates this at a larger scale into their next game.
Edit: And you can only call in something, every one or two minutes to prevent people from abusing artillery and to prevent air space from becoming too crowded.
Yeah, there should be a "cool-down" time between weapon drops.
Just going to say, this whole idea is epic.
I really like the idea of an in-game point/cR system to purchase weapons/vehicles/etc, and the drop pod spawns.
Here's my two cents:
Instead of starting in a cruiser, you spawn and respawn in drop pods that come from your respective ship. I think it would be cool if you could manuever your drop pod on the way down (kill me for referencing this if you want, but think of the Predator Missile from MW2, controls similar to that). That way a player can control to some degree where they're going to spawn and makes them less helpless if someone on the enemy team decides to snipe-spawn the drop pods with a Spartan Laser. Also, I think players should take a small amount of damage when the drop pods impact, giving incentive to spawn behind your own lines and with your squadmates.
As far as squads are concerned, I think 5 squads of 4 would work nicely. 4-man teams seem much more natural to me. And it would be cool if they could be named Red Team, Blue Team, Green Team, Gray Team, etc. as the Spartan teams are in the Halo novels. I'm not sure what for the Covenant.
Remember the map of New Mombassa you could access in ODST? I'd love to see a battlefield map similar to that, showing all of the squad positions, weapon/vehicle drop positions, etc., and maybe a way of being able to mark enemy locations for a short period of time.
Anyways, those are my thoughts. Keep it up, Bungie needs to see this!
