I can't read all of the posts so, sry if posted before.

My suggestion:
Have the different armors actually DO something.

My ideas, although are subject to change if I wake up better:

EVA armor lets the player jump out of the ship towards the other for a mock boarding action. same for Ranger.

Operator lets the player have a mild highlight of enemy players when using binoculars (not scopes). Officer would have same effect, but with added waypoint because of limited-ness.

EOD replaces frag grenades with AT mines, small explosion so not to kill ppl unless by accident, but strong enough to severly damage a wraith/scorpian.

ODST allows for longer or faster sprint, but weaker shields. Also gains access to SMG varients.

Air Assault gains higher jetpack altitde, but weaker armor. Shields are same. Ranger also gains this.

Grenadier carries more frags and plasmas, but moves slower.

HAZOP allows for better shields and armor, but reduced visibility.

Pilot would allow for better air vehicle control, but worse for land vehicles.

GUNGIR reduces bloom on all weapons, but does not eliminate it. but, again, reduced FOV

Scout gains a larger radar jammer effect from AC. Spec-ops also gains this.

Recon gains better zoom for all, even binoculars.

Mark V gains better shields, but changes hud back to H1 style. (could mess with newer players)

Mark VI gains Mark V shields without HUD change

Commando would help with either listening in on enemy comms or having a "lead crosshair" (like elites have when holding a PRe, PRi, PP, Needler etc).

CQC increases melee speed. While CQB reduces melee damage to armor.

Military Police gain dual wielding, but only with Magnums, PRi, and PP.

Zealots would gain an even bigger speed to movement and melee, but losing vehicular capability.

Ultras would gain a better "lead crossahir" that expands to all weapons, not just PRe, PRi, PP etc

Spec-ops also lose some of the AC movement penalty. but it would still be there.

Elite shields get stronger based on rank, but are only allowed to have a limited number of each. (only one General [or whateve the last rank is], with minor being the most common)



Most of the effects would probably only be turned on if you have all neccesary pieces. Like ODST chest, shoulders and helmet. Or GUNGIR Helmet, shoulders and knees.

TACPAD could be used with commando to help find enemy comm sources. Like a minimap but only for people who are talking with 30m in front.

Bracers would be part of the CQB/C sets.

Hard Case would be part of Grenadier

Sniper shoulders (Jun's) and Tactical/Patrol would be part of sniper set

Security would be part of MP set

Can't think of anything else, mostly because I can't remember what everything is.


I agree with that but make it when multiple people have the same armor but go over the cap and at a high rank (Spec ops and higher).Have it where like an elite general gets killed some one else playing who has the same armor will get "promoted" making it where he becomes the elite general.

I suggest a defense and offense squads of 10 to keep the communications simplistic and straightforward but the ability to switch com channels or squads if the other needs backup. Also the ability to pilot your HEV to wherever would be cool, but a problem would be people using them to constantly hit other players, which would be pretty funny... especially since people have armor lock.

To have a balanced map for snipers, vehicles, and CQB, make the map nice and open, but objectives you need to capture are in enclosed spaces. So snipers have a chance at taking out enemies trying to get to the objectives, but once they get there, they can take out the sniper and fight on their own turf.

Also, this seems like a reversed Battlefield game mode that I can't remember the name. You get launched UP instead of DOWN into the ENEMY'S ship, where you have to blow it up from the inside. But I do like the idea. Hopefully lag won't ruin it like it did for Halo 3.

I think what you're trying to remember the name of is Titan Warfare in Battlefield 2142. Truth be told, I miss playing it. my d*mn laptop kept kicking me out of the online games and my homecomputer would cause the game to freeze up. I'm with the idea of this game mode all the way! and maybe even have a version for Ship-To-Ship combat. haven't read all the posts on here so just making a suggestion.

well over all yes good idea. bungie shouldtake it into consideration. but ya gotta keep it haloized. ( yes a new word ). buying guns. sure would be sweet. but not halo in any way. nor close to halo. so thats a no go. and a pelican droppin you vehicles. would be cool. but not halo. thats for campain. multiplayer is a spawning enviroment. but a cool idea none the less and i give you props for the creativity. besides that. i like the idea. me and some friends made a map a week or so ago with a gargantuously ( new word. i know ) incredible amazing giant castle. in a attack and defend kind of scenario with a range of vehicles all over. including rocket wartogs built into air defense turrets. big front gate that you can explode to open. very cool stuff and my personal favorite. a falcon flying with mongooses to spawn on top of it. for an air lift to attack the castle. I hope bungie will put some thought into this atleast.

maybe we should collaborate with my map and make the general idea become reality. i know someone who does halo forge art and probably could make a ship. and makes it legit. It would def be fun to make. but the 20/20 is the major road block

Just a couple of thoughts to build on your idea. Great idea by the way.

The way I understand your idea is a "bigger" team battle on a larger map. Which would include features from other gametypes. (ie slayer, invasion, etc.) Right?

The only thing I would leave out would be the in-game weapon purchase system. I think it would be easier to implement unlocks at certain checkpoints. Like armor abilities at 50 kills etc.

To add to your idea...I would imagine a huge map maybe a long oval shap with 5 sections. Section 1 would be the red base. Section 2 would be the blue base, I would like it to be a very large futurisic version of a WWII beach landing craft. 3 would be a very small urban city style section connect to each base via highway. 4 would be the rocky/mountinous, forge world style section of the map. And 5 would be a flat area with tall grass, forests and lakes.

Both teams would spawn at their respective bases and go on seach and destroy mode until the 200 kill mark is hit. From then as you said the mission changes to a ctf like gametype.

I would like to see a gametype that would take 40mins+ sort of how on Forza you have the option of doing short races or endurance style races.

but you should send it to 343 i bet they would love it. maybe this idea could be the great start to the halo universe for them.
but if u think about it they may be done makeing the halo games but not updating reach theve put in team snipers more ranks infection play list swat playlist they may be done makeing it but not updating it

yep I have such a big idea... FORGE DAY!!! We could have groups of 16 or 18 in forge lobbies. We could all build this "Perfect Map" Don't know where though... Forge World maybe. Then after each group completes each map they put them in their file share. If we can get enough downloads it would be put at the top. Then if Bungie sees it maybe we could put the link to this forum and if Bungie has time they could look up this forum. Then add all ideas up and start to build it.But this perfect map would be a prototype. Like we could pick out a specific date and we would do this.
