I definatly like this idea coming in on a ship would be awesome and calling in vehicles as well, this would also be great for heavy weapons kills, seeing as there are virtually no heavy weapons in competitive matchmaking. However I do think the the campaign scoring and weapons purchasing is a tad radical. Keep up the good work and if at first you dont succeed try try again.

I think there's something here...

The game sounds like the game Section 8 turned to 11. That game had some good ideas (vehicle drop, ODSTing, etc.), but failed to bring it together all that well. I think it'd work very well in the world of Halo, and would be pretty awesome... Maybe there could even be some lore to go with it!

Anyways, great idea. I hope that 343i has some way for us to request game modes in the next few Halos.

It would be a awesome idea could the enemy team place down aa turrets to destroy incoming pods but must be limited on the amount they drop or it would be impossible for the other team to actualy touch the floor.

Love the idea of vehicle drops, although you said that the map would have everything( meaning it would be big), spawning would be annoying because if you want to get to the enemy base it would take ages. My theory is that you could have some bases scattered around the map and territories in them where if you have them captured you can spawn in them? Also weapon racks seem a bit extreme why not you get a random weapon in your drop pod (Covy or UNSC depending what team your on)?

I hope this gametype gets off the ground with 343i.

To be honest, when I first saw all this in the weekly update I thought 2 things.
#1- there is an actual legendary ending but,
#2- No matter what anyone does,(kill all the bobs, hit all switches etc) that until the "time" mentioned in "There'll be another time..." is reached there won't be a legendary ending.

The weekly update by bungie has slowed my hardcore search for what unlocks the legendary ending.

If we hit 200 pages, we might be able to be heard. MIGHT

This is a really good idea but imagine this. It is always humans vs. Covenant. On one side the humans cruiser that they drop out of just chills in the sky, on the other side a covenant super-carrier that drops troops chills there. Instead of a bomb at 200 points what if the person to got the 200th kill was the only one that could go to the bridge of the teams ship and, for UNSC could call in a barrage of rounds from the orbital guns and for covenant they could fire the energy projector glassing the entire playing field. The team that fires the flagships weapon first wins. It would be a Modern warfare 2 nuke situation but the win would still count for the team that fired.

what about an invasion deal where as you or the other team gets points, a tier of areas and weapons is unlocked, got a couple of names for this mode: grand invasion, big team invasion, squadron invasion, flagship vs flagship... thats all i got for now post any of your naming ideas

You know what would also be awesome and badass? to be able to reach the battlefield in drop pods.. that would be f**king amazing!!!!!! you are in the cruiser, u seat on the drop pod, once u do, you will have the map appear and u choose ur location to drop.. OT ur idea is great

What if the game was 10v10? Instead of using more active players (because that would probably mess with the connection) give each player a squad of AI to command with the D-pad. For example you could choose to be an elite with a couple AI grunts to command, or a brute with a couple AI jackals in your squad. The D-pad would have four commands. That way the game would give the feel of a large scale battle without lag due to so many players sharing the connection.

Four possible D-pad commands:

1 Defend home base or location targeted with reticule (highlight the location you want them to defend)

2 Follow player and shoot on sight of enemy (including getting in vehicle player is in)

3 Follow player and only shoot after the player fires on the enemy (also including vehicles)

4 Attack destination targeted with reticule (for offensive purposes)

Wow what an idea, sounds like a great gametype to me! the only think i dont like is the points system, instead, there should be weapon drops, like in firefight, along with the weapons on the map

ok so this may have been mentioned before but i skipped alot of pages. i read up on a bit of this and it sounds like a great idea. Have the covies spawn in their crusier but have the spartans spawn on the ground. Give the spartans full control of the map but the covies can land anywhere. i like the idea of using mega weapons to finish it off.

I would change, as you anticipated, the part where we go and buy weapons with our points. Inside the Cruiser, there are numerous weapon stashes locked in chain-linked fences that become available every time you get a certain number of kills.

Each weapon stash, depending on how easy it is to unlock, would hold specific weapons (the stash that requires 100 points would hold ARs, Maulers, SMGs, and Frag Grenades. The last one that requires 100,00 points would hold a Spartan Laser, a few Swords, and a Missile Pod) These are just examples.

Ex. You get 10 kills (as you said) and imagine those 10 kills scored you 100 points. In order to open the first chain-linked fence to get to the first weapon stash, you need 150 points. Once you have 150 points, you can walk up to any of the stashes that require 150 points or less to unlock, and unlock it.

You bring up some good ideas.

Ok but i forsee some problems:

1. potentially massively unbalanced games in which one team can merely outgun the other. what would the default weapons be?

I propose you take a more invasion style approach. better weapons are available as the game goes on. But special weapons can be "purchased", perhaps air dropped via drop pod from a pelican.

or perhaps a team based choose a class. Such as only a certain amount can be a certain class at a time.

or there could be a *gulp im about to say it* a create a class function in which all previously featured weapon variants from other halo games are available.

Buying weapons would often lead to frustration as people are betrayed for good weapons or are killed and lose their investment.

A drop pod would be nice as long as its realistic & not made out of barricades. Also instead of JUST drop pods maybe have pelicans dropping soldiers into battle. Another good idea would be given a certain class like some will be ODST class while others Spartans or pilots, (Just an Idea).

Good idea, but instead of buying weapons with points it should be the more points you have the better the loadouts, and it could include insane loadouts for people who have a really high score. As for calling in a vehicle, instead of standing still for 30 seconds it should be press down on the d-pad. I think that would be possible since its how you call for evac on the mission "New Alexandria" if you lose your falcon. Unfortunately we will never get this... At least not in Reach.
