How about this:

Make the game purely objective, make it so there's not a slayer style game. Instead, after you reach a certain number of kills, you unlock a new group of loadouts.

0-3 kills

Grunt with plasma pistol and two stickies
Grunt with needler and one sticky
Jackal with plasma pistol and shield
Jackal with needler, no shield

4-7 kills

Skirmisher with needle rifle and one sticky (hologram)
Skirmisher with focus rifle, no sticky (high jumping)

8-17 kills - all with 1 sticky

Elite with plasma repeater (evade)
Elite with needler (active camo)
Brute with spiker and plasma pistol

18-29 kills - all with 2 stickies

Grunt with fuel rod gun
Brute with gravity hammer and spiker (armor lock)
Elite with concussion rifle and needler (evade)
Skirmisher with needle rifle and needler (active camo)
Elite with plasma launcher and plasma repeater (jetpack)

30 kills - Hunter

not sure if 45 seconds is long enough, alittle longer and it mite work, i think a good idea would be a saber vs orbital banshee gameplay. but there would be major lagg if it was 20v20. just a thought though.
i would also like to be able to play as a normal marine, not some super soldier, or some high skilled "odst",, but a unsc marine. i would find that very hardcore based, like call of dutys hard core mode, no hud since you dont have a helm with a visor,also when playing as a marine, i think it would be very neat if when you are on your squads chat line, if you have a squad mate near and your next to him/her and trying to figure out a good plan, when you talk through the mic, ur marines lips are moving along with ur speach.
i've been playing halo since it came out on "xbox" hell, i was a major fan of Marathon, but all this time ive wanted to play as a normal soldier of the unsc, when odst came to place and bungie tryed to make it seem as if you were just a simple soldier, but really they just changed the name of over shield to stamina, im in dieing neeeed to play as a marine, just to see the intensity of the battle through the eyes of a unsc inf grunt, sprinting through smoke and ash to asist ur squad members as then you thought you were going to make it but then an elite moves infront of you, looks at you straight in the eyes, from here you know that you dead, you have no chance for survival. as the elite moves on your position you see him stop and begin to fall to the ground, standing over the elite's corpse, is a spartan(a player that has made a very very very big part on the battlefield). you regain hope and you maniged to get to ur squad and fight the fight.

now if only Bungie would really do somthing like this.

also, is it just me or am i getting the drift that the mission "LoneWolf" would make a blamin awesome firefight map, but there are no respawns, and 16 players, im just very curious about how all those corpses of the spartans and marines got there, i really want to see how much covenant it took to take out all those spartans. Anyone agree????

Live life to it's fullest

For the most part, I like the idea of it. Im not the biggest fan of trade in points (ala COD killstreaks). I really did like the idea of a 200 pt slayer game followed by assault. It would really give Reach the feeling of a major epic battle. Im not 100% sure Bungie or 343 ,for that matter, would have the ability to run something of this magnitude along with everything else they have going on.

I just mapped how players could progress through the ranks of the Covenant side (check a few posts back). So now I figured might as well do the same for the UNSC side. I really like the idea of using the number of kills in a game in order to gauge who gets to play as the powerful characters. I have laid out the setup for the Covenant and UNSC sides, but these are just my first thoughts. I would like to see other people try and make up possible layouts.

i think it will be an epic game mode...like a real war with out the campers and i got an idea that you can shoot down the pelian if you have alot of rockets but the person dosent die just crashed landed in the area around it with half health

its a Great idea!

but the only problem is its to massive for a halo game.i think reach was made to play into teams or squads.20 people is nice but,the lag and the people quitting would be a pain:( not to mention there should be a limited amount of weapons unless its going to be a symmetrical map.really a person wants to be the only sniper taking out the opposite team because its bad ass.i think you had the idea for a point system but its like your adding two different game variants in one game.i think it be more easy for a game to put into chunks where you kill this many people and get a upgrade.it seems more fair.AS for the "perfect map" i think its a map that has quality of team work and multikills.

To OP: I like everything up until the weapons or vehicle shop. It isn't a bad idea, but I like the traditional halo with weapon spawns on the map. I just think having a shop would slow down gameplay and complicate things more than necessary.

Maybe have a secondary objective (if possible) where you get weapon drops from capturing certain areas (like in Invasion slayer, except have the capture points in not so closed spaces with adequete cover) or just at regular intervals.

This sounds pretty B.A.. But idk. There is some things that should be changed. And it definitely should not have its own section along with campaign and firefight. But it should definitely happen. Do I think Bungie will actually do this? No. But not posting this wouldn't increase the odds

I would love to just see explosions everywhere, and out of no where like five rockets hit the wing of a Pelican and then watch it spin out of control, and even if its going down, it would be nice if the pilot still had some control and he could crash land right onto an enemy vehicle, then have it actual go intp the ground on the map and just stay there the whole game. that would be nice (:

no, it wouldnt work... not with bungies servers. they or 343 would have to invest in dedicated servers to be able to play a map of this scale.

marine fud suggestion: heart rate moniter, ammo moniter, and a weak motion sensor. (TEAMBIO for squad leaders)

also, if hangers are implemented, you could have a way of having the players use the pelican to bring vehicles down. making vehicle drops an option so you can either use points or hop in a pelican.
