this is a great idea IMHO. If done correctly, it could be the biggest hit that the Halo name has ever produced.

great ideas. for the communication part, why not have a command channel usable onli by the individual team leaders, and a seperate team channel? meaning team members can onli talk to each other in the same team, but the team leader would have the ability to talk to the other team leaders too? so the team leader can switch channels, maybe using the d-pad, since it isnt used much... yup... just 2cs worth..

I just keep thinking about what else could be in this. It should be like COD. One side Human the other Covenant. ODST drop from space while the marines in pelicans. Brutes and Elites in the phantoms. How about drivable pelicans and phantoms. both switch between 3rd and 1st person views. Airstrikes like a barrage from a pelican. weapons drop from the pelicans like in the story of Halo 3 those pod drops. The covenant could call in a scarab and the human responce is a mac cannon blast. Ever weapon and vehicle from Halo 1,2,3,ODST,Halo Wars should be in here. Vultures from Halo Wars anyone? Classes like Medic for the ODST and Marines. Remeber they cant recharge like the Spartans can. Maps should be huge. New weapons like a grenade launcher attachment on the Ar and Br. Bring back the lock on on the rocket launcher. two last things that would be hard to do: 150 v 150 games (could be done with dedicated servers and also have a certain connection amount to join so if someone has a weak signal they cant join) and lastly maybe have it like ODST. Story on one disc and the entire multiplayer on the second. Would be easier to store more data on a completly new disc. I hope Bungie hears this and i hope the community likes this.

I've only read the first page of comments, and I'm going to say what I'd like to change from the original idea.

First, I like the idea of dropping into the map, but adding a ship interiors to the map just seems like a waste time to me. I'd be satisfied with a pelican/phantom (or a spirit dropship whichever the covenant was using at the time) drop in the beginning with some randomized weapons in pods attached to the ship. I also kind of like the idea of purchasing weapons, but maybe you could make a pelican drop the purchased weapons every 10 or 15 minutes. Maybe even set limits to the weapons for each drop so people aren't all saving to get a spartan laser or a sniper. Maybe even have some weapons caches for those people who don't want to wait to use their points.

Everything else seems fine to me. Bungie if you are reading this WE WANT BIGGER MATCHES :D

I like the idea of the 20 v 20, and the slayer -> assault gametype. Everything else is way too similar to Battlefield or CS and other games. Halo Reach needs to stay somewhat similar to the old ones.

The idea of "dropping" in to the level would be good if you had it only in one MM playlist (like the battle gametype in GRAW, player have NPCs fighting on their teams against other players and NPCs to capture points).

Getting access to power weapons by getting alot of kills before you die is stupid. Its like that stupid helicopter crap from cod4. Merging slayer with assault is odd and confusing.

Calling in vehicle drops in a multiplayer match though, thats quite cool.

TBH, any new game mode is good. If Bungie were to read this and take the mode away to produce and polish it, I would play it. The idea is good, but things like this take time to be made into the new modes that we love, like Firefight and Infection.

1 more thing though, a new mode of this caliber would need new maps, so that might take up some size on the disc. I think developers should consider putting multiplayer as a downloadable attachment to the game, so they can put more on the singleplayer game. Maybe a campaign that lasts more than 8 hours? Maybe something like the RPG titles which can take under 5 hours, but to fully complete everything it takes a long time.

This is just another idea perhaps the two teams could be covenant and UNSC (brutes without shields and marines) and the covenant start on covenant cruiser and the marines start on a UNSC carrier... just an idea to give it a possible story element to it.

Great ideas, I liek how you implement both slayer and objectives, maybe you can even have territories in their?
Like once you capture a territory,it becomes your teams,and gets supplies and weapons from drops from pelicans/ phantoms.
This should be a unique gametype like matchmaking and custom games and have its own ranking system, and stuff,
trying to think of more ideas, anyway great stuff , and Bungie, you should really take this into consideration.

This would be great!!! But, there would be a playist for it. Great idea, I hope this will get in reach. 1 question though, what if you got in the pod, and landed on somebody, I bet that guy you killed would get pissed.

Edit: Ok my buddy and I were talking about this for some time last night. Ok, we were thinking there would have to be a different ship for blue team spartans and blue team elites, same goes for red.

Elites have a different ship and different weapons and vehicles. Spartans have human weapons and equipment and vehicles, while elites have covenant weapons and equipment and vehicles.

When elites call in a weapons drop/vehicle drop, a phantom drops it off, if you are a spartan, a pelican drops stuff off.

Since, to me at least, this map will have to be HUGE, you will need transport, how about a pelican, or phantom depending on whether you are elite or spartan, it has an ai driver. You pay with your points, it can hold 12 people I think, plus 1 vehicle besides the elephant, ill get back to the elephant later, to get the vehicle on the pelican, a gold holographic ring behind the pelican will pick up any vehicle you park in the ring, limit 1 vehicle in the ring. you tell the pelican where to go, once you're inside the pelican, a map will show up and you press A any where on the map, and that's where it'll go.

Also do you guys remember the 1st level in halo 1 where you had to get your armor on. Well when you respawn in the ship, you still have your points, so spend it on armor. You can only buy armor that you have unlocked, then, in game on your ship, you can change it around with the armor builder and bnow, instead of pretty much every armor has the same damage, it will be different. A guy that buys haybusa armor will go a faster and jump higher, but cant take much less damage.

Your teams can also pay to use the mac gun, with your points.

If you're reading this far I thank you. Now the elephant. It will be much faster and carry more in the bay.

But after the initial drop if you die do you respawn back on the planet or back in the ship?

and also i think this is a great idea obviously we need to figure out how to fix it so the map is not so big that its hard to find anyone and that we cant get any exploiters.

Also would be good to have more players, bigger maps and tactics.... would be awsome if your friend was holding out in a building waiting for back up and you drop down in front of the building ... mount a machine gun and then take out everyone trying to charge the building.....

but really tactics dont work much because no one cares if they die because they can just respawn 5 seconds later so either we need a way to makeit rewarding to stay alive while still getting kills.

Over all this is a great idea, and I think that getting pionts is also a good idea, however getting different vehicles to drop feels a lot like call of duty (gettung enough kills to get a uav, airstrike etc.) i think they sould have the pelican come down randomly in set spots for vehicle drops instead of calling them in the spot your in this could probably be manipulated by glitchers to get in special spots.

It would be awesome if you controlled your hev.
There shouldn't be weapon drops though, it should be more like the halo scheme where you find weapons, but maybe there could be like a vip or something where they pick what weapon they want. not like vip game mode but it's just a random person gets to pick a weapon and it recycles through. also if you were picked randomly and you were still alive it would take you to a menu screen and you would be invincible for 12 seconds to pick your weapon then get the heck to a safer place if you were picked say, in the middle of a big squad clash...

This is a good idea, making it feel like you are in a real war and how war's are fought, but having weapons unlocked by kills would suck. If someone wanted a weapon, but they suck and kept on dying every time he fought, how would he ever get a better weapon then an assult rifle something similar? The slayer then bomb one is a bit sketchy, but who wouldn't want to have a little fireworks to end a game right?

Great idea the perfect map though should be a city and in the middle is a giant park perfect for snipers with trees. Also you should be able to go in the buildings which gives better advantages for snipers and also can lead to some close quarters battles in the building as well.

I pretty much like what I've read here, something to remind everyone is that the Covenant do indeed dog teabag the UNSC. However, if the odds were a little more even I think it would indeed be the other way around (pretty much the covenant arsenal of weaponry is homotastic, compared to the UNSC weaponry, but physically they do indeed win with giant brutes and crazy elites, numbers, etc).

In other words, there has to be some kind of stuff the UNSC gets over the Covenant, because everything baseline for each side the UNSC pales in comparison.
