I had came up with this idea shortly after Halo 3: ODST. I can't say you stole it because many people have similar ideas, few go through with it. I had a whole fifteen page document on ideas, maps, purchasing, ect. Here is an simplified version of how mine would have worked.
Orbital Drop:
Two teams of 24 each.
Spartans vs. Elites (or E vs. E or S vs. S depending on gametype).
4 person squads.
Six squads per team.
Based heavily on Section 8 with a Halo twist.
It's just a massive Team Slayer game with side objectives.
1) Score a total of 5000 points (500 kills if just going off that) to win.
a) Each kill is worth 10 points.
b) Side objectives are worth much more but are a bit more difficult to complete. (roughly 100 to 500 points)
2) Vehicle/weapon purchasing costs credits (in-game only, not for armory)
a) Weapons are cheap and you can drop them wherever you want.
b) Weapon pods are locked against other players for the first five seconds. This ensures that only you get the weapon instead of wasting money.
c) Vehicles are a bit more expensive.
d) Can be dropped off by dropships and wherever you need them)
e) Certain vehicles cause you to be respawned in them (i/e. Scarab, Mythos)
f) Whoever purchases the vehicle is the only one allowed in first. After that the vehicle is fair game.
3)Side objective are varied and random. Completion allows your whole team to gain massive points.
a) CTF: Similar to Invasion's CTF. You must capture an enemy core and return it to your objective. (250 points)
b) Territories: You must capture three different locations and hold them all at the same time. Depending on how many you control by the end of the timer the more or less points you receive. (100 to 300 points)
c) Assault: Just go out and bomb something. Simple enough. (250 points)
d) Headhunter: Not like you think. At some random time an enemy squad will be selected. Your job is to take them all out within the time limit (just kill them once and you'll be good) Use your imagination, nothing is against the rules (except cheating) (500 points)
e) VIP: Someone out of your whole team will be selected. Make sure he doesn't die before time runs out. (100 points)
Dropping in and loadouts.
1)When you die, you respawn in your team drop-pod.
a) You are given a quick loadout option and then asked where you would like to land. You could alternatively hit the squad spawn and drop in near your buddies.
b) After dropping for quite a while, you are given the option to brake and finely adjust your landing. You could skip this though, pound into the ground, and destroy any enemy that is unfortunate enough to be beneath you.
i) Using the brake to drop on a vehicle doesn't really work. You will be tipped over and forced to exit sideways. Does work on infantry though.
ii) Killing with your pod gives you twice the points of a normal kill against the same thing.
c) You have to pop the hatch before you exit. You just have to press a button on your controller rather than hitting four buttons like in Halo 3: ODST.
i) Hatches can kill enemy players (instant splatter points)
ii) If you do not leave your pod you can be killed by enemies willing to shoot a sitting duck. Don't go around thinking you are invincible.
Squads
1) Squads can hold up to four soldiers.
2) Your buddies always appear with their call signs above their heads like in Invasion or Bro Slayer.
3) There are six squads per team
a) Alpha
b) Delta
c) Gamma
d) Omega
e) X-ray
f) Zulu
4) Squad member listing is on a ranking basis.
a) Highest ranking officers gets to be the leaders.
b) Remaining 18 soldiers are put in randomly.
c) If slots are available, players can change squads.
Environments
1) Mostly large outdoor environments to allow players to drop in.
2) Different types of environments available.
a) Urban combat zones
b) Open desert wastes
c) Immense arctic tundras
d) Huge Forerunner vistas
e) Large forested areas
3) All are vehicle friendly.
4) All are infantry friendly (except when there are vehicles)
In-game credits
1) Credit are earned for doing various tasks in the battlefield.
2) Credits earned are 1/2 the total points for whatever objective you participated in (i/e. 250 point objective gives you 125 credits). Kills earn you five credits.
Weapons and vehicles
1) Weapons are cheap. Often around 25 to 50 credits but up to 100 for extremely powerful weapons.
2) Vehicles can be purchased for a hefty price. Vehicles cost around 100 to 500 credits.
3) Uber vehicles cost 1000 credits.
a) UNSC Mythos. Basically a flat elephant with an Onager (Mass Driver) rigged in the back. Requires driver and gunner.
b) Covenant Scarab. Know your role. Requires driver (controls main beam) and gunner (back turret)
Understandably, if anyone were to make this real, I would love you. It was originally supposed to be a mod from Halo: PC, scrapped, then to be built using CryEngine 2, perhaps 3 as of recently. It could've been awesome. I'd love to see this work though.
If you used any part of this, give credit. I basically told you all you need to know. It was an original idea, like hundreds of others like it. If you aren't giving credit, go find someone else. If you are basing it off this, give credit.
