Thats not a new game mode. You just mix game variants, and starting points. You just waste my time, think 4 other ideas ;-)

  • 08.14.2009 9:09 PM PDT

awesome idea but i think it gotta be more than 200 kills lol

SHOTGUN FTW!!!!!!!!

To ^^^^^^^> It could be done with Spartans and Elites, it's just gameplay. Also, you could have radio channels for headsets, something like 1 through 77, and lets say that in the pre-game lobby you tell your team to go to a radio channel, so you can only hear like six people talking. Switching a radio channel would be as easy as pushing a D-pad button. Then, you could have designated "Hackers" on your team, that just sit back and search through radio channels to find out what the enemy are saying/ doing.

Like in real life "walkie-talkie's" you can accidently find someone elses radio channel. You know what I'm saying? That would be soooo epic. Of course you'd still have proximity voice, but come on, how does that radio channel thing sound? Your friends could all be set to a certain channel, lol.

In the pregame lobby it could tell each team a seperate radio channel, that's recomend, kinda like a default channel for the game.

I'm I getting through to you?

And Shishka, you'd better be listening to this guy, he single handidly thought of the best gametype of all of Halo.

Sounds like a great idea for the xbox to crash.

  • 08.15.2009 7:24 AM PDT

Yes, really

i like everything 'cept for the weapons shop thing. maybe just a little armory type thing with 2 rockets 2 snipers 10 brs etc for each team of 20

  • 08.15.2009 7:28 AM PDT

I think the game mode would be great and very addicting but I think you should lower the 20vs20 to 16vs16, due to lag. i think that another way to win is to destroy the other ship( but that would be very hard). Come on Bungie, make the gametype^_^

i think that would be good. 77 is too much for 40 people. and the hacker idea is just stupid

also /\/\/\/\/\/\ he said dedicated servers. even 8 vs 8 is laggy without servers. with servers, i think you could go to a good 32 v 32 if the server op has a good connection

Idk, if the game last too long people would start to quit.

  • 08.15.2009 9:38 AM PDT

yes I backed over the vampire... but I swear I didn't see him in the rear view mirror!

the problem I see with it is that alot of people would be like "omgs this game is taking 4evar" and then quit, or if I had to do something I couldnt just sit down play a quick game and then go do it, I would have to be sure that I had some time before I had to do anything else, sounds pretty cool though over all :)

The 77 thing was a joke, you know, with Bungie and all, lol.

And what's wrong with the hacker thing? You should be able to "intercept" radio transmissions from the enemy, and vice versa, that would be so bad ass.

I think intercepting radio transmissions is a good idea but people could just listen the whole time and know everyone's moves unless the other team planned an assault without talking.

  • 08.15.2009 1:11 PM PDT

this is probley the best idea i've heard in a long time it would be awsome

  • 08.15.2009 2:11 PM PDT

i like that idea because you could reproup with your sqaud in the cruiser or go straight into the action

Big Team Slayer has kills to 100, so having over double the teammates to get to 200 shouldn't be that bad.

And to all the people saying it will be too laggy, I used to play Battlefield: Bad Company alot and that could easily support 12 vs 12. That game is a year old. Reach is coming out next year. So it couldn't be that hard to implement(spelling?) a few more players, after all, technology is moving rediculously fast these days.

I think it's a great idea, I love the fact that you would be able to call in vehicles and have squads, that would be freakin epic.

Maybe if you got enough points in your squad you could order a MAC blast or something? I don't know, just an idea.

That would be cool.

Going along with that, I had another idea.

Assuming Bungie decides to make the multiplayer models regular marines/ODST's as opposed to Spartans, within your squad, there could be vote for somebody within your squad to become a Spartan for one life. And this could only happen if the squad together gets a certain number of kills or points.
But I love this and all the other ideas. Only idea I'm not too crazy about is the whole picking a weapon from the ship. Like others have said, I think it would work best if you just call in a weapons drop.

Warning: You may find that my, or someone else's opinion does not comply with yours. Side effects of disagreement may include (but are not limited to): flaming, irrational behavior, broken keyboards, and/or nervous sweats. If you experience any of these symptoms refrain from communicating with others until the symptoms have subsided.

This is a great idea.

As for camping in your cruiser. You should have one minute in the cruiser, at one minute you are automatically sent to your teams base rather than being "Dropped."

As for the radio channels. If you find the "Enemy's" radio channel, there should be a lot of static when they talk, so you can only make out some of the opponents strategy.

If this can be done, do it. If not, then hopefully they could make the Covenant Team AI. I don't know how that would work, but it might still be awesome.

Or you could have a 45 second time limit to leave the cruiser. Other wise you die, loose all your points from that round and it adds 5 seconds to your respawn time each time you do it. So next time you die you'll have about 8 seconds. And if you stay in the cruiser too long again, you'll be up at 13 seconds, and it builds from there on. Something like that so one team doesn't get tons of points and then hide in the cruiser.
Yeah another good idea. Like I said there are many problems with this idea, but there would always be an alternative.

maybe you could have like 5 mins or somthing to prepare and your ships gets attacked by an enemy ship for example your team spawns and there are some minor weps like ars and smg or a pistol and you get ready and sirens flair like after 2-5 mins different every time if possible so you dont feel the same every time and then your pods come out if you dont leave your idea happens also like youhear some screams like "move marines we gotta go" and they say we are under attack hurry" and there could be a funny easter egg when you activate something a marine says "wait i cant i didnt wipe yet" so consider it

  • 08.15.2009 8:27 PM PDT

lol

Sorry if someone posted something like this before. I read through most of the posts...but there are so many.

I really like this idea. Although the weapons shop would probably not be used much, it should still stay. I'd say, instead of buying the weapons, have the players start in an armory with racks and tables full of various weapons (ordered by type). The players will spawn in waves, starting at the armory. Each player will pick their weapons for free instead of paying for them, and then go through a door to the drop bay. The players will then be dropped into the map. The enemy down below can scramble banshees and AA batteries to take out a few pods before they hit the dirt.
Once the humans get to the ground they should be organized into squads automatically; since this is a 20v20 gametype, it can turn into a confusing mess if there's no resembelance of organization (just like real combat). There will be four squads of five players (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo), each led by a designated squad leader (maybe highest rank?). The squad leader's HUD, in addition to the standard shields, objectives, and weapons, will have a realtime display of their squad's status.

From there, the humans will be able to assault the defending players (perferably taking cover in structures with an objective within).

I also like the idea of calling in support, like vehicles, reinforcements, and air support. I don't think it should be a COD style kill based support option system, but rather the squad leaders will start with a certian amount of points to spend. On a seperate menu (maybe as the pods are dropping), the squad leaders will be able to spend these points on a few support options they can use conservatively throughout the game. For example, reinforcements would be a time based support option where, instead of dead players waiting to spawn in waves, they would be instantly loaded into HEVs (or a pelican?) and sent down to their squad leader who requested the support.
Air support would be conducted by a Longsword high in the sky above the battlefield. The squad leader would have a laser designator that he/she would have to keep pointed at a target location, and then the Longsword would drop its payload on that location.
Vehicle drops would work like how the OP said it would, a pelican would drop it off. (I say pelicans should be able to be shot out of the sky :D)

In order for this gametype to work, the comm has to be limited to the squads as well to avoid miscommunication. This gametype would be incredibly hard to pull off, but I like it a LOT.

you had better watch out, better not pout!

I personally love this idea. Though I think it could be something like a ship battle in orbit over earth and you have to try and destroy the other ship by bringing a bomb over by using pelicans and phantoms. Then if there are any survivors of the destroyed ship, you can try to kill them. But if your ship is destroyed than you are out of lives.
