If you fail on your first attempt, try cheating

Posted by: Sh1n1ng Wolf
I love this idea, but I have a problem with the weapon purchasing system.

I mean seriously, I shouldn't have to get 10 kills just for a shotty I'm going to lose when I die. I actually think the weapon you buy should be a one time purchase, but you lose your ammo when you die and you have to rebuy that.

Ex: A shotty or BR cost 10 points for an empty gun, but 6 shells or a single BR magazine would cost 2 or 3 points.

Since Rocket Launcher are so godam powerfulz, a launcher would cost 25 points for the launcher itself, and 2 rockets would cost 10 points per purchase.

This kind of a game system would never really work out to well. If one guy gets lucky and gets 5 kills at the start of the game and gets a sniper or rockets when every can only afford a br at most, the rocket guys will get way more kills and have infinite ammo because he gets so many kills on AR people. This idea worked in -blam!- zombies because you were not playing other human controlled characters.

"This party's over." ~Mace Windu

PPPPPP--POWER!

Not a bad idea OPer, however it definitely needs to be tweaked a little. For instance I don't think the buying weapons would really make much sense in the type of warfare Reach is aiming for.

AWESOME IDEA!
But lag maybe a problem......

Which is why dedicated servers might be a lovely option to offer. I never realized that a famous German dictatorship party was a word that got blocked. Wow

OH MY GOD! They killed Forky! You Covenant b*stards

that sounds awsome!

Man is born free but everywhere he is in chains.

This is a really creative idea. Props to you, sir!
I think this would make a fantastic multiplayer game on its own, but if it was on the Reach disc then that would be even better.

I think u should only be able to drop down onto the map once. This would speed the game up and i think that each team should have a base that they can buy weapons from instead. This would be the bomb target. I also think you could incorparate territories into it and make more bases scattered around the map which could be captured and then captured by your enemies if you didn't defend them very well. You could spawn at each of your bases as long as no one was capturing them. Your main base woulden't be capturable.

Your trying to have fun not see how fast you can win

KOTH 8:14 - Don't spawn, just don't

I love the idea! Dedicated servers are a must.

Stay Frosty

Me and my friends were talking about this kinda game mode earlier today and thought it would be fun as hell. Ive always wanted to see a massive 20 vs 20 battle in halo. Great idea I hope bungie seriously considers trying to make this game mode. Now when you say like airdroping weapons and vehicles would it be kinda like the airdrops and kill system in Modern warfare 2? When you get a certain amount of kills you just call in and in few seconds the plane (or phantom/pelican) drops off the vehicle or weapon. And maybe instead of the fence and store maybe the more kills(or the farther the game progresses) more areas of the map are unlocked and there are more advanced/powerful weapons and vehicles in that area. and for weapons maybe a COD 5 WAW -blam!- zombie weapon buying system if nothing else works out you see the weapon outline on the wall and can buy it and buy more ammo for it and possible upgrades .

I thought that firefight was very fun and have racked up many hours playing it, but found it rather boring into the later sets. I think it would be much cooler if you had to defend something, and could buy new rooms like nasi zombies

Melonious Monk - Scourge of the OIFY.

I think the size of the battle and the diversity of combat would require a level of teamwork that is near impossible with the tools players are given, and would undoubtedly confuse and frustrate the average inebriated college kid (or kid trying to pretend to be an inebriated college kid) that is so common on Xbox Live.

I'm certainly not saying this is a bad idea, and I encourage you to explore this on your own, outside of the Halo environment, and if you have the motivation, try to make a game similar to what you described.

Sadly, my basic AP Computer Science course left me a bit short of knowledge in epic game design. I just hope the multiplayer is different enough to feel I got a whole game, not halo 3: reach

Don't waste time or time, will, waste you.

I have an awsome couple of ideas though they may be a little to crazy. Flyable pelican/ phantom. Imagine one player who earned enough "points" to fly a pelican/ phantom down from a cruiser. It would be armed with all the fire power they have in the cut scenes from halo3. And teammates could spawn inside to be dropped anywhere on the map. Plus gunner/gunners on turruts.

And would be to crazy for there to be classes? Just throwing a few ideas out there.

  • 11.30.2009 3:24 PM PDT

I dont think that would happen EVEN if bungie made another Halo game.

So people will be getting 25 kills from the start of the game, kill 5 people per rocket to be able to afford unlimited ammo, and never die from any other players who purchased higher end weapons?

Are you kidding me? A player with rockets would have to doing well before he got his rockets, not to mention, to get those rockets, he had to get 35 kills to be able to use the freaking thing. If that guy dies, which he will eventually, he loses ALL of his rockets, and has to get ten more kills just to get two more rockets. Two rockets aren't going to get you ten kills unless you get incredibly lucky.

The point of this idea was so players who did well wouldn't be entirely screwed over when some dude comes in and kills you right after your Overkill which caused you to lose your shield. Does that teabagging noob really deserve my shotgun?

And what zombies are you talking about anyway?

First I posted nasi zombies from CoD WaW, but the name was blocked for some reason. Second, I have gotten overkills at the start of games from a lucky play, does this mean I deserve a better weapon than everyone else. On Assembly in ranked TS(at 40+) I got an extrm will one nade and some BRing. I dont think it was skilled, but lucky 3 guys stood next to a exploding coil. If I have a rocket, and a guy kills me, its my fault and he deserves the rocket. If you disagree find some ancient game that does not include the pick up system, because almost all games do

"Reason is Treason, but how is Philosophy Atrocity?"

?.

I love this idea, but it needs fodder if it's covenant vs. UNSC. Have AI enemies not worth as much and a firefight/campaign type scoring system. If it has nothing to do with any campaign or storyline, then you must balance the weapon types between the forces.

  • 12.01.2009 12:21 PM PDT

What?

Pelicans or other vehicles could drop in machine gun turrets and plasma cannons for points also, and a person could also buy grenades and equipment.

  • 12.01.2009 1:05 PM PDT

And if you betray you get put in the Cruisers Prison :D

i have only read up to page three so sorry if my idea is a repeat. I think that the drop pod is a good idea and should definitly be in the game, but i think you should be able to guide or just pick a spot for your pod to drop because its not always fun when you die and spawn away from everyone when all of the vehicles are taken. If the map would be as big as i picture it then it would suck to have to walk longs ways away to get to the enemy. tell me what you think.

or how about once you get the said amount of points to go up into the weapons shop, a pelican swoops down only pocking you up, and you could get halo wars air strikes, cryo bombs, etc but you get them call of duty style, by a certain amount of kills. Although there would have to be something to balence it, like it uses up your points when you call in air strikes and stuff like that. Oh and as like an AC-130 substitute, once you get a lot of points you get to fly a longsword.

Section 8 did that (hot dropping like ODSTs onto the battle field) and it's epic in my opinon. That's a wicked idea dude, but I'd hate to imagine the coding that would be required to pull off something so massive... Remember the limitations on Halo 3 due to time restrictions and the one level they had to take out that involved new forerunner sentinel units because they didn't have time to finish it?

I sure as hell hope the incorporate your idea somehow though.

I agree with the fact it would be epic, but its unrealistic because it sounds so detailed and high tec, i dont think programming can handle it right now. If anything I just hope there is a system of bases or checkpoints, like territories, but with real value, not just a point.
