This would be epic, I could deffinantly hang with something like this, though 20v20 is a little stretch, 10v10 or 12v12 sounds good, but thats just my opinion.

Positive vibes.

Looks like a creative idea, nice job.

Avatar was awesome! If there is to be a Halo movie, make sure James Cameron gets the job!

20 v 20? You obviously don't do games development ;] 10 v 10 would be more realistic, with up to 14 v 14 being a push. However, if Bungie could pull off 15 v 15, that would be pretty ground-breaking in it's own right. The overheads with that amount of data being transmitted would be a nightmare, it would need super reliability and I don't think Bungie, or any other games company for that matter, could so such a huge thing. Unless they specify a 8 Mb connection as a requirement. If you think that lag can be a small problem with 8v8, try doubling that...

By the way, the games mode sounds like a stripped down version of Halo Wars and mixed up with Halo 3, Sim City; morphed into an FPS. Dude, near impossible but A.W.E.S.O.M.E!

This game mode sounds awesome!

But there is one thing you didn't consider. I think that every player should be Spartan/Elite and they have there own squad of Humans/Covenant that they create in something similar to your character creator. For Humans you can customize thier class, thier armor, thier looks, thier weapons, thier names, and thier voices. For covenant you can customize thier species, thier armor, thier color, thier names, thier weapons, and thier voices. During the fight if you lose your squad you can pay points to get them back. Also each team will have computer controled Humans/Covenant fighting against the opposition so it will seem like a war. You can even call in an infantry drop or ODST drop near your location for some extra help.

When making your squad you have to create both your Human and Covenant squads. You have 4 squad positions. You unlock weapons and armor and classes/species for your squad as you gain ranks (I.E. once you reach say captain you gain ODST and Brutes for your squad). The Covenant squad can have two Hunters but each one costs 2 squad positions. Your basic stuff for Human is: Class-Soldier, Weapons-Assualt Rifle+Pistol, Armor-Standard (Basic Armor, no helm). Your Basic stuff for Covenant is: Species-Grunt, Weapons-Plasma Pistol+Needler, Armor-Standard.

Their should also be the choice to use non-sided units in your squad being the Flood and the Sentinals. Stuff you can change for the flood is: the species it has infected and it's Weapons. Stuff you can change on the Sentinals is: Which type of sentinal (The small ones cost 1. The big ones (The ones from halo 2) cost 2), what their weapons are (For the small ones you can change the color of their beam is. For the big ones you can chose if they have those rapid fire things or the missle one), and thier color.

I have been exiled. Disgraced in front of my men. Put down by those of higher rank. And now I am back. I have come for vengeance!

This is one of the best ideas ive ever seen. But I have a change of my own. So bear with me here. How about instead of chainlink fences, just have crates. Now when you drop down from the cruiser you land near your base which could be like a trench or a bunker. In the bunker are the crates. Some crates are already open because they're ammo crates. Now say Red team lands at the base and Blue team lands far back in the woods or desert etc. And Red team has to defend their base. And as i've noticed from the leaked screens that might or might not be real, seemed to have a better graphics engine. So a higher player count could be possible. So an all out war could happen with this. In a woodland map people who have acquired sniper rifles, they could take up sniping positions in the forest and wait. So Blue team could hide between trees or if possible on a branch and wait for a lone Red to pass by and take him out. Another thought I had was that the defending team has lives and the attacking team has unlimited lives. Defenders get 1 life. So when they die, they are out. But Attackers can die and keep coming back. But they have a longer respawn. Say 30 secs. or so. Making it so that the Defenders can get a break and recharge their shields and health. The Defenders will have an limited amount of health packs and limited ammunition. So when they're out of ammo they will have to rely on combat knives which one could be seen in the Halo: Reach wallpaper. One of the Spartans is holding one. And they can stealth through the woods, hiding from the Attackers. Taking up shelter in caves or up on hills. Sort of like a survival mode. Now, if the Attackers manage to kill the Defenders, the Attackers are awarded a certain amount of points each, say 50 or 100. And then the 2 teams swap positions. And then process repeats. Except for one fact. The new Defenders have points right off the bat to spend on opening the crates. Each crate contains about 2 to 4 weapons. However, in addition to the crates are a new thought that I just came up with. Weapon Lockers or Weapon Vaults. Each weapon crate will cost up to 100 points or so and carries 2 to 6 weapons maybe. And a Weapon vault only opens when you have 1000 points. And as an added feature, even if you don't have 1000 points, you can spend whatever points you have. You points you put into the vault is subtracted from the total 1000. Anyone can chip in to the total pool. When all points have been have been paid, the Vault will open. It will have every single weapon in the game inside attached to the wall. Your whole team can take a weapon from the vault. The Vault also supplies ammunition. No health packs though. Just so the game doesn't last forever. And if you want, there could be different gametypes. One such gametype that I came up with is called "Stealth". In this game mode, Red team must sneak across the map without getting spotted by Blue team. When Blue team kills a Red, the Red is automatically tagged. When tagged, the player can only watch. Now Red team gets combat knives. So if they choose, they can stealthfully kill Blue team members. When a Blue team member is tagged, its exactly the same. Neither team can communicate when tagged. Blue team must spot and kill Red team. While Red team must reach the LZ. The LZ is surrounded by a chainlink fence. The gate is closed upon starting and Blue team cannot open it. Red team has access to the LZ. As long as 1 Red team member reachs and Boards the Pelican Dropship, Red team wins. However, As soon as a Red opens the gate, Blue team now has access to the LZ. They can guard the Pelican. And since the Pelican is in a compound on concrete, Red team will no longer have cover. So if your a daredevil, you can charge the Pelican and try to board it where you are invincible. Those on the pelican can only watch. Your only chance now are Camo's scattered around the map. Find one and you may be able to slip past unnoticed. Now in addition to the front gate, is a back gate which needs to be blown open. Using a grenade or if possible a Rocket. Now this back gate takes you inside Blue's base. You must make your way to a door which only Red can open. Yes, I know. What's the point of having a door in Blue base when only Red can open it. Well its just so Blue cannot have access to the LZ until Red opens it. This back entrance is a secret so that the Red team can sneak onto the Pelican without the Blues noticing. The Blue's will be too busy watching the open front gate to look anywhere else. A Forest map is reccommended for this gametype. If Bungie does not see fit to add this to Halo: Reach which we all know they probably won't. I will personally Forge a map for this. Just without the gates and doors and crates and vaults. So please tell me what you guys think, especially ujjval16. Please let me know if you think its good.

Or you could have a 45 second time limit to leave the cruiser. Other wise you die, loose all your points from that round and it adds 5 seconds to your respawn time each time you do it. So next time you die you'll have about 8 seconds. And if you stay in the cruiser too long again, you'll be up at 13 seconds, and it builds from there on. Something like that so one team doesn't get tons of points and then hide in the cruiser.
Yeah another good idea. Like I said there are many problems with this idea, but there would always be an alternative.

EDIT: to the second part of your post, maybe your teammates can see the weapons, but they wouldn't be able to take them.

no, this is not halo, you don't BUY weapons, you pick them up, the map would be too hectic, evenutally, the strongest weapon on the battlefield would be rockets, laser, etc, as the destroy vehicles and people nicely, this wuold eliminate the need for other items, and rendering vehicles useless. Bad idea, the perfect map does not work, But the HEV pod idea, i do like the sound of, but that is the only bit

That must be one heck of a long game but heck yeah that is an awesome idea.
What should we dub it?
I think we should call it.... Assult\

OOH I've got an idea for solving the issue about the number of players.

The less players there are, the smaller the map. The lower the required score. The less weapon drops available. Alright?

Who likes my idea?

halo 3 vs. gears of war 2

It's a great idea.

I would change, as you anticipated, the part where we go and buy weapons with our points. Inside the Cruiser, there are numerous weapon stashes locked in chain-linked fences that become available every time you get a certain number of kills.

Each weapon stash, depending on how easy it is to unlock, would hold specific weapons (the stash that requires 100 points would hold ARs, Maulers, SMGs, and Frag Grenades. The last one that requires 100,00 points would hold a Spartan Laser, a few Swords, and a Missile Pod) These are just examples.

Ex. You get 10 kills (as you said) and imagine those 10 kills scored you 100 points. In order to open the first chain-linked fence to get to the first weapon stash, you need 150 points. Once you have 150 points, you can walk up to any of the stashes that require 150 points or less to unlock, and unlock it.

You bring up some good ideas.

20 vs 20 is easy for most gaming company to hold on a dedicated server i have played a 40 vs 40 computer game so it can't be hard alos i would like to see people dropped of at tatical points in pelicans so that the map can be bigger

just noticed this is starting to sound to much like COD modern warfare 2

I always liked the idea where you spawn in a ship over the map and drop down on it, it give realisim to the spawning and you can choose where you spawn. But I think that you would need something like AA cannons like in section 8.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

This is an incredible idea. I would pay MS Points or wait an extra few months for this to be incorporated into Halo: Reach. I think that this would satisfy all types of players by giving them the environment that they desire in one large map.

The spawning would be my favorite thing and it should be as if a map is displayed and players choose a spawn point on their own territory and deploy their HEV on that point. There are areas that players cannot spawn such as boundaries, enemy territory, etc. The only problem that I could see with drop pods is that there would be a huge glitch if two players landed on the same spot. Perhaps a restriction from landing on small points in which other drop pods are sitting?

With maps this large, I think that it would be good to put the Pelican and Phantom as a playable vehicle. They would have stamina which would drop as it takes more fire. They are slower, but can transport 6 passengers at a very quick speed which includes 1 pilot and 1 gunner. Players will simply fall out if they are not seated. The vehicle can be hijacked to rip off turrets and kill the pilot. If the vehicle looses it's stamina or the pilot gets out/dies in midair, the vehicle will fall, crash and explode. You can see all of my ideas for these vehicles on this thread at Forgehub.

If I could think of any names for this feature, I would probably go with something like:

"Warfare"
"The Front Lines"
"Conquest"

I think spawning in the cruisers is cool but I have another idea where when you are respawning (Lets say respawn time is 8 seconds) it goes to a screen where you choose where you want to land. If you do not choose by the time it gets to 0 then you just drop where your marker was sitting. Instead of spawning in the carrier, you would spawn in the drop pod, and, well, drop.

My other idea is that you and can "buy" bases. The bases would look similar to the ones on valhalla. Lets say there is a unbought base. The base has a closed door and seems to be of no use. There is a panel where you press "x" and a picture of a control pad (The one on a xbox controller) pops up. Press up on the CP to spend lets say 50 points. (idk what the scoring will be like) Left is 100. Right is 200. Bottom is all. Once enough points are spent the base comes alive.

The door opens revealing a small armory, and sentry guns fold out outside. Only the team that bought the base could pick up the weapons, this would be to protect from leeching from the other team. The whole team can contribute to the base.

Little ideas:

If one team liberates a base, they still must buy the base.

The base cannot be bought until the base is cleared of enemy defenders and sentry turrets.

The bases would be out of the way of "dropping zones" so people can't just drop in.

Along with the points spending would be a little menu to pick what thing you want to buy with your points.

EX. Weapon drop, Banshee bombing run, LS (Longsword)Carpet bomb, things like that.

EDIT: Also just for Aesthetics the ships could be battling.

So thats my ideas...

If they can't manage to support the amount of people needed for this gametype, they should at least keep the HEV drop system, at least during the opening rounds or on a timed setting.

I also would like to add a new topic to discussion:
I know a few people hear would like to add another interesting gametype on the same EPIC scale. It consists of two teams, one defending a scarab and one trying to blow it up. This could be implemented into this gameplay with the attackers (UNSC Spartans) droping down in HEV pods and attempting to destroy it. The defenders (covenant Elites) could man the turrets and possibly control the scarb. Best out of 4 rounds wins with the scarab team trying to survive for a set amount of time, say 5-10 minutes.

In this way, Bungie could still create the feel of an epic game type, with less people and proccessing power.

Tell me what you think.....

Its good, but remember its Halo.
We all love Halo because its fast pace.
I feel that this will be more like battlefield than Halo, not that thats bad, but lets think about that for a second.

I honestly like Halo because its simple gameplay that focuses on skill and weapon control than on complex things like buying weapons and vehicles.

If the winners get to buy the strongest vehicles, how the heck is the losing team going to come back and beat them. Then the winners get more points and the losers get less and they keep buying overpowered weapons and the game begins to be one sided spawn killing mayham.

What I'm trying to say is that maybe we should give the losing team something special if they are falling to far behind. Maybe a MAC-Blast or some kind of large scale vehicle (scarab) to turn the tide back to even gameplay.

I'm all for this gametype, although I do believe that some people are thinking a litle too big. Sorry if I repeat ideas, I don't have the time for 40+ pages of reading right now.

First I address where the map would actually be set. I would love to see Mombasa or maybe a Dela Halo w/ ancient arcitecture included environment, the Ark, maybe even a Pillar of Autumn map where reinforcement come through airlocks and hangers and it would be a battle for ship control. And the idea of capurable bases is awesome, which leads me to my big thinking.

If all the players are sparans or elites split into human vs. covenant than I think their should be a ncp spawn in bases and maybe able to be called in via pelican (or phantom) of marines and grunts. Then there could be more elie troops which would be ODSTs and jackals, these ncps whould follow one of two objectives, defend or attack a base, with multiple diffrent assault approaches so the AI itself could have basic programming for where to go but sronger programming for fighting basically your average every day campaign AI. For Delta Halo or the Ark their could even be flood or sentinels. This would also make a bit more since with a VIP mode where your leader was S-117, Johnson, either of the Keyes, Buck, or the Admiral for human and Arbiter, Ship Master, or Tartarus (even though he's brute and I was hoping to avoid them but I needed more options)for the elites because then a normal human player wouldn't be forced to just chill out in the back.

My last thought is no space combat and no driveable pelicans, longswords, phantoms, or seraphs.
