That Idea sounds great. I think it would be even better if they could make it even lager teams like 50 on 50. But that would have to be one powerful server.

"With each kill, I grow wiser. With added wisdom, I grow stronger."

I think it would be fun but honestly that would require so much extra programming that it would slow the best connection and practically freeze the slower ones. Another problem i see is that it seems like once one team starts winning they'll keep winning.

how about 30:30

I really like this idea, and I hope they do it. But there are some problems with having it in Reach.
1. Reach comes out this year, and this would push the date back even farther.
2. This combined with the data already used for graphics, campaign, and other modes would probably overwhelm the memory on there, and take away from other experiences too, but this can be fixed by creating another disc solely for this mode and firefight (the mythic disk is an example).
3. This is straying a little far from what Reach was planned to be, but it would probably work better as a separate game.

Despite these small problems, It's a great idea, and I'll contribute some thoughts too.

(P.S. I do not mean to steal ideas.)

For a name, how about Helljumpers, because you start the level pretty much the same way that an ODST starts their own missions.

I also like the ideas of a hangar, and the drop pods(Covenant too), because these add variety to the start, and their own dangers.

Drop pods go straight to the ground, and should have an autopilot and a manual pilot. the auto would allow the pilot to focus on discussing with his teammates a strategy, while manual allows more precise landing and dodging anti air and fighters that could shoot at you. also, the start of the drop should have a map that will divide the map into colors, or sectors. Green can be your teams side of the map, where it's safe, yellow is danger for tanks and anti air, and red for the enemy base, where you have a high chance of not finishing your drop.

Also, the pods will take damage in midair, but not to your health, because you could die with a still working pod, otherwise. The explosions from tanks and anti air tanks can send the pod spinning, preventing you from knowing where you're landing. Also, if your'e a spartan you can be like the chief and jump straight out of the hangar, with your suit protecting you from the fall, but with no shields and some health lost.

Ships are stronger, but aren't direct and can be shot down easy and have more health than the pod. also, entire squads can go in a single Pelican, Phantom, Spirit, or Falcon(new vehicle that is confirmed), or grab a fighter and go directly to the battle on the offensive.

I don't think there should be a shop(if you were a solder, would you pay for standard weapons?), but instead have basic weapons like the AR, BR, needler or plasma rifle( depending on faction) on a rack, and advanced weapons and ammo shacks as well as recharge stations(for batteries) scattered around the map. But you need points to use the reloading areas.
Points can be used to buy colors, insignia, or perms
To prevent camping, just make it so that the points they own start to do down for the campers, so that they eventually don't have any points.

MAC cannons shouldn't be used, since one is usually enough to cause massive damage to a Covenant ship.

20 vs 20 is a little much, as well as 200 points, so maybe 16 on 16 and 150 points would work.

maybe after planting the bomb, the game can end with a cinematic cutscene that shows the bomb eradicating the entire ship, leaving only fragments scattered around the ground.

Also, maybe you can explore hallways in the ship to find turrets, and other things too.

maybe, there can even be skulls that award a lot of points hidden on each map.

Also, some of the levels can be

The ark, with massive changes in terrain

Delta halo, with islands scattered throughout the level

Mombassa, with urban buildings and street fights(crash your pod through buildings, too.

Reach, a combination of the levels, with deep caverns and caves, flat plains, traversible mountains, and maybe a lake.

Also, maybe there can be a way to lower the shields of the ships so you can bring the bomb onto the enemy ship, then protect it until you move it to a power core, then evacuate by stealing a drop pod, transport, fighter, or(for spartans) jump off.

Hope my ideas help!

Siggy sig sig right here in this box

i love the idea i think u should have an ocean and boats too though. make it a jungle type map to with sewers and a hidden security room where u could activate cameras with points and drop them where u want and they would appear in a room on the cruser but if the enemy finds the camera they can dstroy it. make there be some natives to that can kill u.

I like it. But i think Halo Reach should have a playlist just like that new game "MAG coming out for the PS3. where you have some kind of massive multiplayer teams. i think that would be crazy! And it could compete with this new brand of FPS that MAG is introducing.

+theres alot of die-hard Halo fans/ FPS shooter fans that most likely think that the concept for MAG is genious, and they would (like myself)like to play Halo in a massive multiplayer setting.

Check me out on the Youtubez, IMADGI :)

this game mode would actually be awsome because it kinda has a point. like slayer just has kill or be killed, but this is like you have to blow up the enemy ship to win the match. this is the very first fourm i read aboot halo reach and i am impressed on how awsome this is. Thank you ujjval16 for having such a good idea. if you have to blow up the enemy ship and have already dropped, how would you get back up to your own to like defuse the bomb thats in your own ship.......... whatever just a thought but this sounds awsome and would be even awsomer to play it.

Death and Destruction! Ooh-Rah!

It would be EPIC. I've been waiting for a Halo game like this since Halo 1!

What if every single player was ranked[Like Halo 3] and the highest ones had access to Different characters like a Brute Chieftain[if they were on the Covenant side.]

So, the higher ranked you are, the more powerful you are.

  • 01.25.2010 10:16 PM PDT

Gods Must Be Strong

I think it included with all the other halo reach goodies would solidify this as the "Definitive Halo" even more

I love it

Probably if this game mode works out, there would be Pelicans and flying vehicles on the ground that you could use to fly up back to your ship, attack the other ship, or move around the map faster in a large group. Or maybe even for Pelicans and spirits to move vehicles and drop drop pods to your allies on the battlefront.

i think there should be like a heavy squad, reconaseince etc. that you cna choose to go in and ther should be a limit to how many people in the squad

i thought of this cause i saw the gameinformer and it looks like they can do it

i like the idea, but one if this weren't being made already it wouldn't be finished my reaches current estimated release dat (this fall i think?), two the matches would be REALLY long so people would quit and their teamates would get pissed off, and three even with dedicated servers this would be a massive undertaking. but it would be cool :D

This game mode would have to have large teams, probably like 20 vs 20

I stopped reading there.

if theres lag in a 16 player game (8 v 8), then 40 player game (20 v 20) would be impossible.

  • 01.26.2010 7:51 PM PDT

Yes This would be awesome and i would definitely buy it

I reckon they should make like a platinum halo thing with:
Halo 1 campaign
Halo 2 campaign
Halo 3 campaign
Halo 3 multiplayer (Like slayer and CTF)
Halo 3 ODST campaign
Halo 3 ODST firefight
Halo reach campaign
This idea
Halo wars

It would come in like a massive as container with 4 or 5 disks each containing a couple of these.

My ideas for this...

Make like another map (along with all the others like jungle, outskirts and stuff) that's in the sky. And everyone would have a ship and it would be like epic. Then when you get to the other team's base you hop out in a hangar and there would be alot of corridors and stuff like the pillar of autumn. You would find a central core and you would have to use like 5 grenades of that amount of firepower to destroy it.

to solve quitting or AFK people there should be like people in a lobby looking for a game and if someone quit of if someone reported someone else as being AFK then the people in the lobby would get a message saying there is a free space would you like to join.

Seeing as it's before Halo 1 then you should have the old pistol with a scope and stuff like that.

With the two factions there should be matching troops

Marine Brute
Odst Elite
Spartan Cheiftan

Maybe there could be like a thing where you have NPCs like grunts and Stuff. For the UNSC there would be like untrained people like those guys in the campaign with Hard hats and magnums.

Hello there friend. enjoy my profile page. I'm not sure why you are here, but have fun anyway

it is a very good idea, however, you do not want the drops to be like the airdrops in MW2. those were terrible. i do see where you are coming from, and i would love for that to be a game type

Ok, first of all I would like to say that this is a new game mode, not the entire multiplayer experience. It gets it's own special spot on the main menu, along with forge and theater. This game mode would have to have large teams, probably like 20 vs 20, and it would only be possible with dedicated servers, due to lag.

So this is how the game begins. I can't find the thread for it but somebody came up with the idea of spawning in a UNSC cruiser(or a Covenant one) and entering the battlefield with a HEV. I like this idea. So the game starts off with both teams in a UNSC cruiser. You have to find a HEV pod and go down to "The Perfect Map"

"The Perfect Map" is a map, imo, that utilizes everything. That means every weapon, and vehicle. That means that the map must have large open areas for snipers, vehicles ect... but, it must also have tight areas where the shotgun would be the best weapon, and everything in between. It would be a hard map to make but I believe Bungie would be able to pull it off.

When you enter the map you will start off with normal team slayer. The score will be 200. Once you're team scores 200 kills, you will be given a bomb, and you must finish up the game with a game of assault. However you will ONLY be given the bomb if you reach 200 kills. If blue team has 200, but red team only has 150, then the red team won't be given a bomb. Once red team also get 200, the get their own bomb.

Now there has to be a few twists. A big one I think would be adding Campaign scoring. so every time you kill somebody you get points, and you get more points when you get medals. Now obviously these points can be used for bragging rights, but maybe they can do more. Ok lets say you were doing really good, you just got a killing frenzy, but you died. You have a lot of points, because you got 10 kills, and not to mention the medals. So you spawn in the cruiser, but instead of going straight down, you go to a weapons shop. With those points you can buy a secondary weapon. Now I bet the thing I just said probably made 50% of the Halo Reach forum's population get mad, but just bare with me. These weapons would be expensive, so even though you got 10 kills, maybe you only have enough points for a Battle Rifle, or Carbine. In order for you to get a sniper, you would have to have way more points. However to keep it fair you can only buy 1 weapon at a time, so you can't go down with a sniper and rockets. Don't worry though, there will still be weapons on the map.

Now if you have been reading this far and aren't mad at me, you might like what's next. Ever been in the position where you need a vehicle, except you can't find one. Well I think we should be able to call in vehicle drops, from a pelican. You would obviously call in the drops using your points. So lets say I called in a pelican to drop me a mongoose. I would have to hold my position, for 30 seconds, until the pelican comes. If I die, the pelican will come anyway, and drop the vehicle, anybody would be able to take it.

So that is the basic of the mode I am thinking of. Obviously there are problems with this idea, like communicating with a team of 20 but people have said a squad system might work. So yeah, this is my idea, and tell me what you think.

PLEASE READ
Oh and if you want to see everyone's idea's, go to page 8 and go to AbruptArc's post. Also I highly recommend you guys look at Half Demon ANBU's post on page 10. I would post them, but I don't have enough room. Ok, I have gotten a lot of post saying I've copied this idea from Section 8, and I would like to say I didn't. I had no idea what Section 8 was when I made this thread. I just found out about it when someone mentioned it a couple of pages on, and I then googled it. I watched some gameplay videos and all I found similar was dropping from orbit(in Section 8, it's more like the sky). And so I am sorry if this idea isn't "New" enough for you guys. Next time I make a thread about a new idea, I'll make sure no other game has ever done it before.

I think this is an awesome idea. But maybe some of the larger maps on halo 3 like sandtrap and avalanche could be used as maps but they could also add some maps dedicated to that server. I dont think 20 vs 20 would be to much trouble for the 360 as ive played some large games modes like ground war on cod4 and social big team on halo3 without any lag atall
