To add on to this game mode i would like to see AI go along with the picture.

Bases: 2 Bases are at each side of the map. Covenant vs UNSC every minute or so some units spawn out on a path towards the enemy base. encountering the enemy squad about center if not helped by the players.

General Idea:squads of covenant and marines pouring out of dropships to fight eachother in a linear map.

Objective: your mission is to help these units along on the ground. have the units reach the enemy base they will attack the barracks or covenant halls which spawn the units for that lane.

Terrain: i was thinking about three lanes seperated by mountains/rivers/forest where all three lanes rech the enemy base. each lane has a barracks which can be destroyed by the team.

Vehicles: each base will also have a Garage or Covenant Vehicle spawn. which spawns vehicles every 30 seconds. ghost, warthog, spectre, tanks, wraith. air spawns are AI controlled.

Rewards: So as the player you will fight against the enemy AI and players. earning points to call in squads of your own. 15 points without dieing calls in your own 2 marines or 1 elite. 30 points calls in a squad. 50 points allows you to call in some air strikes from your orbital ship. im sure there would be better rewards than what im thinking up. mine arent very creative i know.

Points: points are earned by gaining metals and killing units. 1 point per unit kill. 5 per player kill. and medals are worth their own assigned points.

Endgame: lead the AI to the enemy base where they will destroy it. or use the bombs provided in the vehicle base to do it on your own. where it blows up in 45 seconds if not contested.

please add on to my idea i know i left alot of gaps in information i just probably didnt think of it at the time. this gametype i know will never make it because of the current gen processor but i can dream cant i?

I think that the idea is great but there are some drawbacks to having all of those features. I believe that if you have the "buying weapons feature is great and all but I don't think that will make it a halo game. I (my opinion) think that it just won't feel right having to buy weapons.
On the other hand, the main menu having its own game mode instead of going to custom games sounds good too so you don't have to go searching for it or simply so you can just enter the special mode.
The bomb thing though I find it easier if its just one objective not being 200 kills and then getting a bomb. I just think it would be easier to focus more on one objective (slayer, assault, etc.).
I personally really love the idea of starting and spawning in a ship like a pelican or the phantom. You'd be able to see your teammates before battle and it would have this large grand scale feeling of epic getting ready for the big battle.
Another thing I really loved that was mentioned was the "send in vehicle" feature. That would be really awesome if you could get an option to call for a ride but I wouldn't know how that would function. I think it would be cool if you get like 4 kills in a row without dying and you could call it but then that would be like stealing killstreaks from Modern Warfare 2. Love the idea of calling in vehicles though.
For points, meh. I don't really think it matters; I think it's optional. The only thing I can think of that matters to points is the team scoring or who's winning or losing. I wouldn't really know what the campaign scoring would be for (taking out the buy weapons idea).
Something else I just thought about is choosing your own weapons in the beginning of the match. Not like Modern Warfare or 2 but so that you have a select few weapon choices to choose from in the beginning. For example, (not classes) but being able to choose a battle rifle and an smg in the beginning of match. Or another is having a shotgun to choose from along with a pistol. Of course this would be too cheating for the normal Halo matches like team slayer 6 vs 6 or something like that. But then this is just for the "special game feature" anyways so then it would be equal. It's not the feeling that "oh he started with the shotgun and its supposed to be like you have to get here to get the shotgun its unfair that you just get it in the beginning. But another thing I'd like to say about this weapons feature is that it should be limited. Meaning that you shouldn't be able to start out with a rocket launcher it just would be unfair. Only small weapon choices like instead of starting with AR always or BR,DMR,etc. You should be able to start with just a few selectable choices. Anyways that's my own opinion I know at least one person will go against it and that's fine.
Besides other things I think this is a great feature mode.

id like to see instead of partys- squads. so if your in a party/squad you can join your friends in the squad- and so a random player in the squad could fly a pelican- which cant leave until 3 of the players in the squad are there the rest can go in drop pods (HEV or ODST)

when your in the HEV or drop pod you have a second camera-to show you where your going to land- also an altitude meter and a brake- if you breake too early, you will gt picked off from AA or something else- if you breake to late- you will probably be knocked out for a long time- depending on when you breaked. your shields will also go down and you are vunrable to any attack. if you break at a very very short distance, you will probably die, or need to get rescued. any teammate can do this, when a SOS beacon will appear on the HUD so you can get to him/her

I havent read everyone's responses to this...just because there is way too many but here are my thoughts on the original idea.


Call this gametype: Marathon

200 kills is good and if we could get a 20 vs. 20 gametype then it would be an avg. of 10 deaths a person so not too bad but if not a 10 vs. 10 and 100 kills isnt too bad of an idea also.

Now once a team pass's the kill objective they get there bomb...however they are not able to plant it becuase the bomb spot is locked up.

Have 3 places where the team that has the bomb has to go to unlock the 3 doors needed to unlock the bomb spot and make this territories...in which they have to stay at for a short period of time in order to push the button and unlock.

Once all 3 buttons have been pushed you may then plant the bomb. However the game wont be over when the bomb is detenated. However a mass explosion occurs causing the base to almost be destroyed and causing new door ways to open up and old one's be closed...but the kicker here is that the flag was on top of the base out of reach until now in which a few ramps have opened up to get to the flag. In order to win the game you have to capture the flag.

Not sure if this is a great idea or not but I felt it was a good addition to your original gametype in which would suit the name of "Marathon" in which they have already created a game called this as well as allowed for most of the gametypes in halo(slayer,territories,bomb,ctf) to be placed into one gametype.

they could just make it so that the players that leave can drop in to anygame which would solve that problem and also mean faster matchmaking

as for the couple of AI ideas ive read, it would be better if the spawn times were increased and so that the AI's that spawn can be upgraded with points and gradualy get better over time. As for vehicle AI's there could be special team powers that are unlocked by acheiving different objectives or taking important stratagetic points or even by upgrading forces using points. These powers can range from short sword bombing runs to mac blasts as well as large waves of vehicles (like large air forces ariving from the horizon or warthog rushed from the barracks). Of course these abilities would be changed up for the covanent team.

Anyways i think its a good idea but probably a little late in the game for Bungie to actualy put this into the game as it seems to require a large amount of work.
