I see one possible flaw, although I love the idea. Once the losing team starts losing they really don't have much of a chance to start winning with people falling out of the sky with some of the best weapons in the game. So possibly, this might be stretching it too far but, once one team gets their bomb the other team goes into a mode where they get to call in a free Heavy Vehicle for a last stand kind of thing. Given them a little nudge to get back on their feet.

I think this is a fantastic idea. I'd like to say to whoever said you shouldn't be able to shoot down the pods that No, not on the first drops but after that you're free game :D I think the great thing about the HEV pods is, if you've read the Cole Protocol you'll remember the brilliant battle with Adriana and the ODSTs using the pods as cover and stuff like that, would be cool to do that.

So as far almost everyone has loved this idea, so why don't we have a go at coming up with a name for this gametype?

I tried for like half hour this morning and I came up dry but it may have been monday morning syndrome.

well if you get 100 points for 10 kills, how are you supposed to get 100,000 points in a game to 200?

It's a great idea.

I would change, as you anticipated, the part where we go and buy weapons with our points. Inside the Cruiser, there are numerous weapon stashes locked in chain-linked fences that become available every time you get a certain number of kills.

Each weapon stash, depending on how easy it is to unlock, would hold specific weapons (the stash that requires 100 points would hold ARs, Maulers, SMGs, and Frag Grenades. The last one that requires 100,00 points would hold a Spartan Laser, a few Swords, and a Missile Pod) These are just examples.

Ex. You get 10 kills (as you said) and imagine those 10 kills scored you 100 points. In order to open the first chain-linked fence to get to the first weapon stash, you need 150 points. Once you have 150 points, you can walk up to any of the stashes that require 150 points or less to unlock, and unlock it.

You bring up some good ideas.

Well, I love the concept.



But, instead of each team starting off in a ship, one team is UNSC, one team Covenant(well, Elites, unless we could spawn as different Covenant). Or vice-versa. Now, the the team on the ground would have a lot of defending anti air defenses (I.E, for the UNSC, Gauss cannons, mounted turrets. missile silos, etc.) Now, the attack team would enter in HEV's(UNSC/Covenant variants). These would be extremely hard to hit, one for the distance, and two, for the speed at which they travel. Once they land, the troops are fair game. Like you said, they could fight until two hundred points, and then they get a bomb to blow up the base, a beacon to place(sorta like assault) or, they have to capture the base(like territories). It would be two sided. So, say the defending team got two hundred points first. They would be able to call in a transport to be lifted onto the ship. Once on the ship, they would have to go to the center, and plant the bomb, capture the ship, etc.



Your idea is great. Pretty much functions the same way, just a my spin off is a different approach to your excellent concept.



Oh, and a name for it could simply be War, because it behaves like a war. Kill the enemy. Capture key points, etc. And don't say I'm ripping off CoD 5. I'm not.

For all the years playing numerous different games halo has been my favorite because of the flow of the game itself. Halo 2 was my favorite multiplayer experience. Halo 3 was changed because of the equipment, which changes the gameplay for some part, but overall was also a good experience. The thing about this idea is it is the Greatest Idea for Halo. It would bring the game to a whole new level and shut out any competitors. I have been wanting this since i started playing fps, especially with Halo. For a player to be competing along side a squad of about 20 other spartans would be SO intense.

ESPECIALLY since they did not bring back coagulation/blood gulch ( i know not big enough for this gametype ) it would be a great time having a convoy of tanks, warthhogs and mongooses roll up to an enemy outpost while snipers are flanking on a ridge. the thought of it makes me cream.. haha.

Great idea, seriously I'm very happy with it.

It's a good idea, but don't start thinking Bungie will use it. I would love this kind of game, and I like your bomb idea especially. They should make a Team Slayer/Assault Hybrid game like that. Not necessarily 200 points, more like 50.

and also in this 'weapons shop' / stash, you should be able to upgrade you weapons like put a lazer sight or scope on your weapon.....

I love your idea, but instead of buying weapons, I say that you spawn with a good weapon based off your medals/points earned in your prior life. But the primary weapon will always be the same, its your secondary that changes. For example lets say you got a double kill, you die and then you respawn with battle rifle. If you got a triple you could spawn with a sniper, so you don't buy anything, you just get awarded better secondary weapons for what medals or points you got.

You know what your going to be when you grow up, a game designer!! Yaay for you, heres my ideas.

Ok so like you said they start in their cruiser and come in on HEV's, and there are a few bunkers with radio's to call in vehicle and weapon drops (using their points) they could also call a small carpet bombing, so if any armour was inbound then then could weaken it up, and each time the player dies he spawns on the ship, but evry so often the ships moved, and on the move HEV pods were unuseable, so the players would have to stay on the ship until it stopped moving, but oonce it stopped moving the HEV's were useable again, Pelicans could be in the hangar of the ships, and now and again there would be a phantom in the other teams hangar, so battles could be fought on the ships, or when the team gets the bomb, pelican/phantoms become available, they have to destroy the enemy ship, so then the cruiser dies, then no more resources or respawns, so the team with the bomb can just clean up any survivers and the game would end, but in the lobby you can modify your weapon loadout in your HEV's weapon slots, Example: Primary: Br/Ar/Smg.. Secondary: Pistol(different kinds maybe, so maybe you could silence it, and so on) then Customize your HEV's colours and markings,

ok no one get mad at me because this going to be like COD4-5...i think if u get enough points u can call in like an air strike....1,000 points, hornets, 10,000 points, pelican, 100,000 points MAC gun. but u can only get each one once, if u dont use the first one and u get to 10,000 points, the hornets go away and u get the pelican. and when u get the air srtike, it doesnt just pop up for a little while and then slowly faids away, it stays there until u use it. so if u guys like it and u think there should be a different kind of vehicle that should be before the MAC blast befree to add it in.

this is a great idea, i like the idea of a dedicated server, it wouldnt work without it. i love the idea of a drop pod entrance, i think you should be able capture LZ's to call in vehicles and to drop in when you spawn. the score would have to be way more than 200 to cooperate with the points idea, maybe 500 points so it could be like a war. sorry if im getting a little off topic but to add to the game type i think there should be like a whole battle like in chromehounds and endwar. with different environments, like snow and rain. it would help get rid of the repitiveness. just a thought
