i really like this idea. Maybe there could be a option to make it forced species. On team our elites and the other are spartans. The spartans would start with human weapons, there would be human vehicles on there side of the map, ect. The same would be for the elite team. Maybe there also could be mini objectives that might put the game in favor for the team like maybe capturing territories to limit areas were the other team spawns, or destroying a bridge so the other team has to take a longer or more dangerous path to get to your base.

- We all get tea bagged from time to time, just deal with it...

This idea I believe is getting too far away from the core values of Halo...it is starting to sounds more like MAG with the amount of players and huge battles...Although, for regular gameplay, I like the idea of the weapons locker, vehicle drops, things like that, because I can still see those aspects being added to regular gameplay.

Super Halo Fan & Graphics Designer.

I think the main idea would be soooooooo
AWSOME!

  • 02.28.2010 1:20 PM PDT

I am AtomicRavioli, you can find me all over the web

it seems like a good idea

  • 02.28.2010 2:26 PM PDT

I'm a hardcore fighter who won't quit and finishes with honor, so if you're fighting me, you better make amends...

Pure Genius!

Having to drop out of a cruiser in orbit to fight would be a great perspective for the player. Buying weapons, and multiple objectives, is mind blowing. With these capabilities you really have to strategize on what weapon fits the job. Spawning back in the cruiser for medals is a pretty good idea too. They're like perks, you get points for getting them.

I vote to put it on Reach.

A new Great Journey will start with the Sons of the Covenant

Well I like the idea, except for the part with both starting on the unsc cruiser. I think that the covenant should start off in one of there massive slag ships both in orbit, but before you "drop in" you can choose what weapon you want instead of having to search the map or fight over/rush the weapon you want..... Besides if you start on the covenant ship you can get a first person look on a covenant ship, maybe gravlift down wraiths and ghost, like order them for drop

  • 02.28.2010 5:26 PM PDT

its a great idea i would change a few things but its great i would love this gametype

  • 02.28.2010 5:50 PM PDT

My tweeks: 10 pts should get you more then a BR, and first TS should be less then 200 kills. More like 150.

Otherwise, YES

HEV respawns/reinforcements?

The helljumping (a.k.a droppin hot from high orbit to ground) is a brilliant idea, as ive said before a couple o times.. But i disagree with players having to drop via HEVs everytime they die. I think that it would reduce the flow of the game and people would have to wait longer.. and seeing how the game would need to have up to 200 kills to go to the next stage.. it means you would have to wait for 200 drops to reach that stage.. (of cource u can start early and shoot the HEVs in air.. but wudnt it be funny if one went of cource and splattered you?) neways, my point is to introduce dropping in the very beginning of the game and after you have landed and died, u respawn in a base on the map. Now heres the catch, the flow would not at all be taken away in this case, but u can also have some Orbital dropping action peppered throughout the game: The third way to use ure points is to call in reinforcements, This would make a person who is dead and in black screen ready to respawn, get a message saying you are the reinforcement (of cource the players who get the message are random) and these people would have to wait an extra longer to respawn inside one of maybe 4-5 HEV pods ready to land beside the one who called in reinforcements. People already do this in halo games indirectly.. if their teammates are dead in MLG, the last guy can wait by a certain area to make their teammates spawn in that general area... in this game mode, you use ure points to make ure teammates spawn in the general area.. beside you. get it?

Hey i like this idea but what if you can spawn in a pelican for faster respwan but at the loss of points

This is genius & its about time that someone did some thing like this.

i love the idea i think you should go through with it

Ok, first of all I would like to say that this is a new game mode, not the entire multiplayer experience. It gets it's own special spot on the main menu, along with forge and theater. This game mode would have to have large teams, probably like 20 vs 20, and it would only be possible with dedicated servers, due to lag.

So this is how the game begins. I can't find the thread for it but somebody came up with the idea of spawning in a UNSC cruiser(or a Covenant one) and entering the battlefield with a HEV. I like this idea. So the game starts off with both teams in a UNSC cruiser. You have to find a HEV pod and go down to "The Perfect Map"

"The Perfect Map" is a map, imo, that utilizes everything. That means every weapon, and vehicle. That means that the map must have large open areas for snipers, vehicles ect... but, it must also have tight areas where the shotgun would be the best weapon, and everything in between. It would be a hard map to make but I believe Bungie would be able to pull it off.

When you enter the map you will start off with normal team slayer. The score will be 200. Once you're team scores 200 kills, you will be given a bomb, and you must finish up the game with a game of assault. However you will ONLY be given the bomb if you reach 200 kills. If blue team has 200, but red team only has 150, then the red team won't be given a bomb. Once red team also get 200, the get their own bomb.

Now there has to be a few twists. A big one I think would be adding Campaign scoring. so every time you kill somebody you get points, and you get more points when you get medals. Now obviously these points can be used for bragging rights, but maybe they can do more. Ok lets say you were doing really good, you just got a killing frenzy, but you died. You have a lot of points, because you got 10 kills, and not to mention the medals. So you spawn in the cruiser, but instead of going straight down, you go to a weapons shop. With those points you can buy a secondary weapon. Now I bet the thing I just said probably made 50% of the Halo Reach forum's population get mad, but just bare with me. These weapons would be expensive, so even though you got 10 kills, maybe you only have enough points for a Battle Rifle, or Carbine. In order for you to get a sniper, you would have to have way more points. However to keep it fair you can only buy 1 weapon at a time, so you can't go down with a sniper and rockets. Don't worry though, there will still be weapons on the map.

Now if you have been reading this far and aren't mad at me, you might like what's next. Ever been in the position where you need a vehicle, except you can't find one. Well I think we should be able to call in vehicle drops, from a pelican. You would obviously call in the drops using your points. So lets say I called in a pelican to drop me a mongoose. I would have to hold my position, for 30 seconds, until the pelican comes. If I die, the pelican will come anyway, and drop the vehicle, anybody would be able to take it.

So that is the basic of the mode I am thinking of. Obviously there are problems with this idea, like communicating with a team of 20 but people have said a squad system might work. So yeah, this is my idea, and tell me what you think.

PLEASE READ
Oh and if you want to see everyone's idea's, go to page 8 and go to AbruptArc's post. Also I highly recommend you guys look at Half Demon ANBU's post on page 10. I would post them, but I don't have enough room. Ok, I have gotten a lot of post saying I've copied this idea from Section 8, and I would like to say I didn't. I had no idea what Section 8 was when I made this thread. I just found out about it when someone mentioned it a couple of pages on, and I then googled it. I watched some gameplay videos and all I found similar was dropping from orbit(in Section 8, it's more like the sky). And so I am sorry if this idea isn't "New" enough for you guys. Next time I make a thread about a new idea, I'll make sure no other game has ever done it before.

I do like your idea. The Halo multiplayer should have a massive multiplayer experience much like Killzone or Mag if the 360 is to compete with the PS3. I like the idea of a massive Team Slayer battle. 20 on 20 sounds great. Like you said, it needs dedicated servers...
I very much dislike the idea of a "weapons shop." Well, I dislike the way you decribed it. Players, once dropped on the map should be restricted to stay on the map. That means no respawns in UNSC bases or cruisers. Such respawns would take away the "feel" of the Halo Multiplayer Experience. The option to choose weapons before respawning would make the game more like Call of Duty, and to be honest, I like The Halo Multiplayer idea of finding your own weapons... Here's a thought. A player can access the shop, during gameplay, but not before respawning. (The player should first make sure there are no enemies around, as they can kill him or her while he or she accesses the shop.) 20 to 30 seconds later, a UNSC or Covenant (depending on player class 'Spartan,' or 'Elite,' or anything Bungie may want to add) weapons drop takes place on that location. But like you said, it would cost points earned from kills. I do like the idea of pelicans or phantoms dropping vehicles for players to use...
Which brings me to my next point. Before the teams can access the bomb, and make their final assault, they need to reach a total of 200 kills. Not points earned from kills...

In addition to the idea of "the perfect map" why not create a few perfect maps? Instead of one?

Ever play Gears of War? I like it's game type Warzone. This game type has rounds of elimination in one match. I would like to see something like Warzone (team elimination with rounds) in Halo multiplayer. And I like the idea of 20 vs 20.

I don't know if the 360 could handle massive online games like MAG. Maybe it could do 20v20 but I heard that PS3 beats 360 in processing power or something like that.
Xbox and PS3 are nearly equal when compared, but xbox would probably not be able to handle anything over 30 VS 30 people online unless the graphical requirements are GREATLY REDUCED (not going to happen) and we would also need LOADS of dedicated servers for this game mode.

i cna just see it now.....lag everywhere, another thing. who would moniter it? 4o people on a map? you either have to be a robot to moniter or have a team of people controlling it. another thing is game chatter- everyone talking even if it was limited to ur team would be too much, there is a fine line between awsome and just plain insanity. i like the idea...i reallly do. but think realisticly how much space would this take up on the game? they would have to make a seprate cd just for that mode and if your getting special edition and if that already has 2 disc, thats 3 dics. how much would that cost. plus there is time- the thing is...its coming out this year, to make something that huge would take eon's. ....but then again it would be fun....i reckon eventually something like this will occur but in time.

even though my post pretty much shows how probable i think it would happen i would still like it, in the viddoc:unto the breach they had 30 v 30 with AI right? people would be easier since we have our own minds, it's just lagg issues and the size of the map, so it's possible. u cant have it too big otherwise you would die as soon as u spawn cause of some guy with a sniper miles away u cant even see.

The Marty Army

Believe.

Yes.

  • 03.01.2010 9:29 PM PDT

tl;dr

lol jk

its a good idea, but the problem i have is the perfect map part. its really not possible. a large vehicles based map doesnt become as close quarters map just by adding a few tight areas. It would have to be enormous, meaning it would be impossible to coordinate only 20 people, you would need way more, otherwise there would hardly be anyone to kill. maps also arent perfect just because they include every item.

Think about how sandtrap has close quarters areas, but these areas are really inconsequential to the game. Im not saying its impossible, but they would need time they probably dont have, and lots of new gameplay mechanics. what you have is very RTS like, and I dont think they will give us anything like this, cool as it could be. perhaps the closest thing would be an expanded firefight mode.
