I would say team members can see and take the weapons, while it takes them 5 seconds to pick up, while you can pick up instantly, and the other team can't see the weapons, but, if they do find them, they can pick them up with the five-second rule.

Good idea. this is wat we need

So, this is what i think of it, with a few changes.

Spawining

(This would be like a cutscene type thing, but in 1st person. You could look around, but your movment is scripted.)
I think at the beginning of the game, you should spawn in either the UNSC or Covenant cruiser, depending on which team you are on. You would spawn in a barracks type thing, your own personall quarters, there would be a whole hallway of them, one for each person on your team. From there, you would run to the hangar, where you would go to your HEV drop pod. Along the way to the hangar, running down the halls there would be alarms, and flaring red lights, and voices on inter coms saying to get ready for a combat drop, and the planet surface under attack, and stuff like that. So you get to the hangar, and you enter the drop pod, and are shot down toward the map.

The Map

This map should be a huge map with all different types of terrain and eviornment. There would be deserts, snowy mountains, forests, plains, and fields, towns, villages, and forrunner structures. There should be an urban close quarters desert town, where you can enter and exit almost every building. The shotgun, and energy sword would dominate in this area.
There should also be large open plains and fields, where vehicles can easily manuever through, and sniper can set up in the large grass or hay, or a small cliff overlooking the field. Snipers would do good here, but vehicles would dominate this part.
Large snowy mountains that you can climb up would be very cool, and snipers could easily nest up here, and snipe their unsuspecting targets below.
Dark, dense, green, forests would allow players to tactically and stealthily move through this area, where the AR or DMR would be best, but the active camoflauge would be invisible.

Weapons

On your spawn cruiser there would be a weapons shop. There ould be a desk, with a chainlink gate (unsc) covoring it, and a marine, or ODST behind it, working the shop.
You could go to this shop once you get enough points, and buy a secondary weapon of your choice, with the correct ammount of points. But you could only buy weapons that work with your team, UNSC - AR DMR SNIPER SMG COVENANT - NEEDLE RIFLE CARBINE BEAM RIFLE PLASMA RIFLE.. ect.
The only way to aquire the other teams weapons is to pick them up off tghe ground from a dead enemy.

Respawning

When you respawn, you will appear in the Med bay of the cruiser, where you will work your way back to the HEV's and be, once again, dropped into the map.

Vehicles

You should be alloud, with anough points to throw a smoke grenade, and wait about 30 seconds for a pelican (or spirit) to come, and drop off a vehicle of your choice.
With enough points, when you respawn, you could buy a pelican in the Hangar of the Cruiser, and load it up with your team, and fly it out to the map, drop off your team mates, and fly around shooting people, untill you get blown up.
You could also buy longswords in the Hangar, and air strike your enemies.

Teams

One team would be the covenant, elites, and the other team would spawn as the UNSC, SPARTANS. The UNSC team would soawn in a human cruiser, take human HEV's to the surface, and buy and start off with human weapons, and vehicles. The HEV's would land at a small UNSC outpost, or town/village. While The elites spawned in a covenant cruiser, took down covanent HEV's and landed in a covenant outpost, with covenant weapons and vehicles.

Armory

There should be an armory in the oupost or on the cruiser, that lets you change the camoflauge on your armor, and on your weapon. Along with changing what armnor you are wearing mid-game. So if you wanted to do some close quarters combat with a shotgun in the forest, throw on some CQB armor, and some woodland camo, and your set to go. Or Put on your recon or scout armor, and some fall camo, and crawl out into the hay field with a sniper rifle.

Squads

There could be 4 suads of 5. The squad members could only talk to the people in their squad, so it voice chatter would not be so chaotic. There would be a squad leader for each squad. The squad leaders would have to be elected among your team, by the majority of votes, so you dont get the kid with no mic, or the screaming 9 year old as your squad leader. The squad leader could talk to squad members, and other squad leaders, so that if 1 person comes up with a clever idea, he can tell his squad leader, who will share it with the other squad leaders, who will tell theire squad.
For example:
squad 1 member of a CQB squad thinks of a sniper ambush.
squad 1 member tells squad leader.
squad 1 leader tells sniper squad (squad 2) leader.
squad 2 leader tells his/her members where to go and what to do.
Also the squads could have different jobs, or classes. One squad could be assigned to guard a base. One squad could be a sniper squad where they just sniper. While another clopse quarters (CQB) squad could guard narrow halls, or allays or building.

Planting the Bomb

When 1 team reaches 200 kills, ill use UNSC for example.
-UNSC gets 200 kills.
-A door opens, with a bomb on a pedestol.
-take bomb.
-Get to enemies base.
-plant bomb at covenant base, under the ship.
-bomb blows up base.
-enemies respawning stops, so they are on their last life.
-once all covanent team members (elites) are killed the game ends.
-goes to cutscene of the UNSC ship shooting at the Covenant ship.
-covenant ship retreats, but blows up due to a MAC strike.
-match ends

what the hell, this is some combo between Halo and Section 8, the vehicle drops got me mad though in Section 8, two people would boost, one would get a tank, and then all -blam!- broke loose.

but still, good idea, I think it would be better though if one team were Spartans, and th other would be Elites, make it a lot more fun

I think this is an amazing idea, and i would love to see it in the final game, even though i have no clue what a dedicated server is... but if i dont see it in the final game, i will be very upset with Bungie.

When they're in the beta, that means they're almost done. If they have the multiplayer beta going live soon, this won't make it with the game when it ships. Maybe as DLC.

Why is this so appealing to so many? It's just like throwing a bunch of gametypes together, it really doesn't seem like that much fun at all to me. I don't know if you guys played Big Team a lot when they still had it, but more does NOT equal better. It would just be chaotic and random. And with the map, no offense but honestly all you said was basically: throw everything together in a big giant map that it will all work on.

Idk about this, I could see similar things in other games but not this one, it reminds me of Section 8's random mission things and also the upcoming game Brink's different objectives too... it seems like great ideas in those games, not so well in this though. And besides, that damn bomb would NEVER get armed... how do you even BEGIN trying to use teamwork with 20 people, it wouldn't make a difference if you were in that game or not, you would still win/lose whether you were there or not... I'm sorry. It just sounds really bad to me.

actually, i love big team. I like more people, it makes it funner, and more chaotic, and realistic.
Also about section 8, i wouldnt know, i played the demo n ddnt even think about buying it, because the deemo was crap, so i ddnt even bother wasting money on it.
about the teamwork, for planting the bomb, squads. Maybe squad leaders could talk to other squad leaders, so they could communicate. when 1 squad leader comes up with a plan he can share with other leaders, who share with their squad.

  • 03.29.2010 3:04 PM PDT

I loved Big Team too, got a 44 in it before they removed it. Personally I squad battle more, because it's big-team based game, but not so many people that it's just people running around chaotically. 6 is a good limit for large teams where teamwork can still be involved and it's not just people mindlessly running around, shooting everything.

I'll admit, Section 8's demo was trash, personally I only think it was because of the servers, that was the worst way to advertise something, ever. But reading up on the game before-hand, made all the stuff in it sound really good TBH.

And with the whole squad leaders thing. This is Halo a fast-paced first person shooter, not War Conference, a thinking and strategy game. That sounds a lot like battlefield with the whole "squads" thing... And all that communication within communication would honestly take some SMART people to deploy it well where it turns out to actually have a lot of teamwork in it... and most online gamers are idiots, truly.

(besides it's not all that cut to work out, you could have the kid with no mic to be your squad leader, or worse. that one little screaming 9 year old.)

Its a shame Bungie can't post on this topic. This idea is very good, I understand they are taking our ideas into account, but it is very disheartening when they post on stupid threads and not on intellegent ones.

Who knows maybe it will be in there or DLC after all this post has been going on since last year, who knows maybe they have read this and are putting it in.

I like Halo games, nuff said.

Two Ideas: You could have a pelican that drops off a large # of people at the same time like at the start or if a lot of peoople die at the same times and it would have unguided rockets to prevent spawn killing and would be flown by a person for a short period of time until he is auto-forced to go back base and drop down in an HEV pod to drop into the battle. If in the case that many were killed at the same time, then the pelican's missles may turn the tide a little on the ground.
#2: You could have a mobile command base (sorta like a new game coming out called Dust 514) that you could call to maybe pool some points to drop in a couple of power weapons for the team. It could also call in like a turret kit to defend a statgic position and if you are covenant then can drop in a sheild to defned a HEV Designated Drop Point designated by the mobile command Base. Also, the person in the command base would serve as a squad leader that could zoom in on everyone on his team and set rally points based on a toopographical map available to him with red markers showing enemy's last known position.
That's my idea.

Yes. It reminds me of the old days of halo Custom Eddition where players could fly Longswords and so-on. Really a good idea, as long as not everyone plays it all the time, I do like to pwn sum guys in matchmaking.

OBVIOUSLY they won't be able to add this in by the end of the year. but they should add it to DLC. this is DEFINITELY a DLC people would want, because just plain mappacks are getting abit boring.

also probably a gametype within this gametype but how about a flag after you put the bomb in their base? and when you actually PLANT the bomb and it explodes the building holding the plantiing point should ACTUALLY fall apart! (this of course being in addition to what Half Demon ANBU said!)

ALSO this gametype should be spectator friendly! i would SO spend an hour or so watching SOLELY these people play this gametype while im taking a break from playing while eating!

That would be cool if it you could have spectators in the game.

i'm thinkin that besides all this, you should be able 2 choose how heavy or light your armor is. your could also choose if this affects how u look or not. Lets say ur a sniper. u could alter ur armor 2 b lighter at the cost of bullet protection. if u were a cqb person, u could in protection at the cost of speed. the game then would give u a preview of wat its armor suggestion is, and the u could decide if u wanted that or wat u already have.

It's a great idea.

I would change, as you anticipated, the part where we go and buy weapons with our points. Inside the Cruiser, there are numerous weapon stashes locked in chain-linked fences that become available every time you get a certain number of kills.

Each weapon stash, depending on how easy it is to unlock, would hold specific weapons (the stash that requires 100 points would hold ARs, Maulers, SMGs, and Frag Grenades. The last one that requires 100,000 points would hold a Spartan Laser, a few Swords, and a Missile Pod) These are just examples.

Ex. You get 10 kills (as you said) and imagine those 10 kills scored you 100 points. In order to open the first chain-linked fence to get to the first weapon stash, you need 150 points. Once you have 150 points, you can walk up to any of the stashes that require 150 points or less to unlock, and unlock it.

You bring up some good ideas.

so, u mean COD:world at war style?

  • 03.31.2010 2:34 PM PDT

Once isnt enough, when six rolles around im starting to get satisfied.

Yo. This $h1t sounds awsome! I think you should be able to call in support fom the cruiser such as an air to gound attack. Or bomb drops on enemy territory like in Halo Wars. And limited lives would be cool... but only if your teammatecanrackup nouh ponts to buy you back ino the game as reinforcements! and oe this ive alwys wishe w an option was instead of forced color teams, ave one team as UNSC and the other as Covenant. Spartans vs Elites h3ll yeah!!!
