The initial idea was not to have a structured class based gameplay, but rather have the players decide what role they would play in their respective squads on their own. It'd be like an organized version of regular Halo multiplayer in terms of player roles.


ya i was just saying you know and i would have my squad like that each of us getting the weapons we can use pretty good and ya i know that would be obvious but i would remind my group to make sure

Oh and i think the squad leader should be able to cycle through com channels to talk to the other squad leaders and i support the weapon drop and vehicle drops and that you should hold your ground for a set amount of time before they come down

No way.

This thing sounds long and boring. 200 kills? Holy balls.
People will quit from boredom, which will make gameplay uneven, which equals a sucky game.

Hosting hundreds of 20 vs 20 games will put massive strain on their servers. Current halo 3 games are a maximum of 8 vs 8, and I dont think Bungie will want to DOUBLE that figure.

Well I love this idea but why not make it to one team is elites and the other team are Spartans. And you can customize your player except for the chest. Then if you get a certain ammount of points then you can buy chest armor. If you bought EOD then you would get spotlights. But if you bought CQB then you would get a combat knife. Same for elites only they can get zeolot armor and get a sword. But both can have the ability to wield any wepon lying on the battlefield. Then for one map it could be an assult where one team has to boured the enemy ship and place a nuke in the ships reactor.

So? Halo uses a lot of idea's from other games. People could say Firefight is like Horde. I could say that lowering the gravity in the game is taken too, because I remember it in an old 007 game.

To sum up on what people have said, i have came to a list of posts i found while reading through the thread that i thought i might put into a list also adding some of my own ideas to it. Although i might miss some of what the past posters have said, i have come to the conclusion of adding what i could find to the list hopefully helping the thread starter to summerise what everyone have said.

in simpler words {weapon stashes where you open after a certain amount of points gained, obtainable only to you like on call of duty world at war when fighting the zombies you have to buy the guns on the walls}

FlapjacksNsyrup's idea
in simpler words {you have a time limit on the cruiser that once reached will activate some kind of device, killing you and after each time you die your waiting period is extended}

in simpler words {once dropped onto the map you stay on the map and when obtaining weapons, instead of the shop suggestion made by Urine you call in weapon pods from UNSC or Covenant after a period of time while waiting/ as well as making more then one perfect map}

In conclusion to the posts i read i have decided on my own suggestions as well as adding some of the posters ideas to the list, well here goes:

1.For people who would stay on the cruiser the entire game, i like the idea of flapjacks from where they die after a certain amount of time but combined with soulreavers idea of where a enemy ship attacks the cruiser making you die and respawn on the map below.

2.Also once landing or spawning on the map you hear an explosion of where the cruiser you were on is destroyed and crashes off into the background as well as the enemy ship flying off into the distance.

3.Maby instead of weapon stashes we have weapon drop pods in which your weapon you have chosen on the ground from a sub menu is placed in the pod and sent from the cruiser you were first placed on before dropping to the ground in a HEV pod. Also implementing vehicle drops as others have suggested.

4.More vehicles such as longswords pelicans, walkers like in halo wars, scarabs, submarines etc which would make for a challenging game since it would involve staying covered from flying vehicles, running into buildings from a land vehicle, trying to swim to shore while running away from sea vehicles or maby flying down to the atmosphere of the planet you are orbiting from within a space vehicle while trying to evade pursuing enemies.

5.I also like the idea pocket syndrome said as where you have a hanger bay from which you can retrieve a vehicle to drive off onto the map below, just thinking of the feeling you would get as you slowely descend onto the ground from the hanger bay while watching as you see others behind you or from the enemy cruiser doing the same, it makes me want this to be implemented even more.

6.Objective modes such as ship assault, one bomb, ctf, slayer etc.

7.Some kind of last stand vehicle that does not cost points as sinomen suggested.

8.I also like the idea of where you spawn with weapons earned from badges or points but also implementing the weapon pods as you might not like the weapon you have but would like to spend some of the points you have gained on a weapon or vehicle lowering the chance of gaining a good weapon the next time you respawn.

9. If assuming logaspartan's idea of bungie making us normal odst/marines then his suggestion may work as it involves the entire squad to choose their spartan for one life.

10.Finally squads, i think squads may work in some cases as for when most of the squad has a mike so the squad members may talk to each other and by pressing a button like left on the d-pad to talk to other squads. This would make for some really good battles seeing as it involves in alot of strategising but may work against the squad since maby the squad members may have no mike. Also lolsandwhich's idea is good on the part of where you are automatically assigned to a squad since it may get a tiny bit hectic when coming to the part of squad choosing. Such in many circumstances you may hear the following "nah i only want my friends in this squad" or "i don't like him, don't invite him to the squad" those are just two of the many comments people would now and then say, which would slow down the gameplay.

Additional Idea

Say you kill someone (In any form does not matter) you could run up to there body and pick up some sort of "Dog Tags". Now you may be thinking "Oh well what would the Dog Tags do?", well, they are there to serve some bragging rights. With those Tags you would be able to put them into "The Locker".

"The Locker", as I would like to call it, would be in the main menu. If you click on The Locker it would open up a screen that shows all of the Tag's that you've collected and the Tag's you've collected would be visible to everyone (Say you kill Walshy and nobody believes you, bust out the Tags...).

Now here's the cool part, you're probably wondering "Are the Tags going to be the same for everyone?". Well no they aren't actually, they would be different for everyone. Here is a rough sketch of the Tag, here.

And I suppose maybe if you kill someone and take there tag you would be able to wear it on your Character kinda like how the Predator's would wear skulls around there necks.

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

I would give it a shot.

I don't think it will happen, since Bungie said during H3's development that Halo loses a lot of it's fun if the player count goes above 16.

The ODST 251st

Good idea and all, however in order for it to work you would need team sizes close to the amount of Resistance 2 (60v60). If not then you would have to use the map Longshore. Unfortuantly you would not be able to call in any vehicle unless you had a MASSIVE amount of points. If you dont then maybe you can call in a mongoose to get around quickly. I also dont see the spawning on UNSC carrier working unless it was done a la Battlefield 1943 style. IF done so, then you would have to have flags that you would need to capture (Battlefield 1943) and can spawn there after you capture them. With the weapons choosing I think that the BR, AR, and the carbine would be the cheapest weapons (instead of spawning with an AR, spawn with scoped pistol). However I think you should be able to buy two weapons upon spawning, one basic (AR, BR, plas rifle, etc.) and one power (should you have enough points of course) (sniper, rockets, shotgun, etc.). Those are the only things I would change about your ideas.

i like it but what would be cooler to me would be it would be Spartans vs. Elites. So one side starts in a Covenant Cruiser the other in a UNSC. And it would make your player model into a Spartan or Elite depending on your side. Then you could have your own colors like in FFA.

I'm a bit iffy about the whole idea, but I think it'd be a great game type to play as, but spawning on the UNSC cruiser really reminded me of Star Wars Battle Front II. The only reason I disliked it is because I sort of have a feeling it may ruin the gameplay of Halo, but of course it'd only be optional, and I liked the idea of being able to call in for vehicles and the like. Great recommendation.

Having a space battle and ground battle going on at the same time would be nice and if the space battle was going badly the people on the ground could be affected via less HEV pods being dropped (longer respawn), and getting supplies dropped off less. BTW starting off in a HEV pod sounds similar to burning in that's in Section8.
