Bump because I <3 this idead : )

Chance
GT: The ch33b

Actually for the most part it sounds bad ass. I commend you for such a great idea (which does have 1 thing i don't like; the part with weapon shop or whatever the hell it was). It'd have to be an entirely seperate playlist though. But, I'll admit it, I'd more than likely get most my EXP from this if it was real.

Believe. Bungie.

Well if people were to complain that this idea has been taken out from Section 8 then go read some Halo novels and see that ODST are talked about way before Section 8 was a dang storyboard.

This is an excellent idea. Unless it has already been added, I doubt it will be seen in Reach. Maybe DLC Bungie please?? That would really be some great DLC and I think they should add more gamemodes to DLC instead of just maps.

The 20v20 sounds awesome. The only problem is the weapons shop thing. If one team is winning and they get weapons like rockets and snipers, it will be hard for the other team to catch up with them. Also, instead of having the bomb thing when the team gets 200 kills, the bomb thing could be a different playlist, with team flag and king of the hill.

Have fun!!!

I think this is a really good idea! Love it!

  • 04.21.2010 5:49 AM PDT

I think it would be cool if you could steer your drop pod wherever you want

  • 04.21.2010 6:30 PM PDT

From the looks of it this idea is already partially implemented. The new gametype Bungie just announced, Invasion, is, in some ways, very similar to this. Since that's the case, I don't think this will actually fully see the light of day. There is one thing that could make this possible though: Gametype Hybrids. IF Bungie were to add the ability to combine gametypes, then this might, might just be possible.

You're right...Invasion is almost exactly like this game idea, just without all the complicated stuff.

If you go read all the links that crazy ole Urk posted today, you can see that one of the Bungie employees (I think it was Carney) actually said that the played around with the concept of earning and spending credits to purchase gear based on your performance during the match, but when they tested it, it was way too complicated.

um probably be called spawn killing and it would be dumb of them or have sheild door type stuff around it Good idea?

  • 04.22.2010 8:12 PM PDT

This is an awesome idea but it sounds a lot like Section 8. I don't think thats bad cause Section 8 is one of my fave games so just pointing out the similarities.

Sounds WAY too much like Section 8

Sorry, good idea but almost everything you said that game has in one form or another other than the whole weapon shop

I would think that the game mode would be better if there was an elite cruiser and UNSC to where the new mode of elites vs. spartans would come together in this giant battle. or i would think of making a map of an elite cruiser vs. a UNSC cruiser. that would be really a good type of game!!!!
Posted by: ujjval16
Ok, first of all I would like to say that this is a new game mode, not the entire multiplayer experience. It gets it's own special spot on the main menu, along with forge and theater. This game mode would have to have large teams, probably like 20 vs 20, and it would only be possible with dedicated servers, due to lag.

So this is how the game begins. I can't find the thread for it but somebody came up with the idea of spawning in a UNSC cruiser(or a Covenant one) and entering the battlefield with a HEV. I like this idea. So the game starts off with both teams in a UNSC cruiser. You have to find a HEV pod and go down to "The Perfect Map"

"The Perfect Map" is a map, imo, that utilizes everything. That means every weapon, and vehicle. That means that the map must have large open areas for snipers, vehicles ect... but, it must also have tight areas where the shotgun would be the best weapon, and everything in between. It would be a hard map to make but I believe Bungie would be able to pull it off.

When you enter the map you will start off with normal team slayer. The score will be 200. Once you're team scores 200 kills, you will be given a bomb, and you must finish up the game with a game of assault. However you will ONLY be given the bomb if you reach 200 kills. If blue team has 200, but red team only has 150, then the red team won't be given a bomb. Once red team also get 200, the get their own bomb.

Now there has to be a few twists. A big one I think would be adding Campaign scoring. so every time you kill somebody you get points, and you get more points when you get medals. Now obviously these points can be used for bragging rights, but maybe they can do more. Ok lets say you were doing really good, you just got a killing frenzy, but you died. You have a lot of points, because you got 10 kills, and not to mention the medals. So you spawn in the cruiser, but instead of going straight down, you go to a weapons shop. With those points you can buy a secondary weapon. Now I bet the thing I just said probably made 50% of the Halo Reach forum's population get mad, but just bare with me. These weapons would be expensive, so even though you got 10 kills, maybe you only have enough points for a Battle Rifle, or Carbine. In order for you to get a sniper, you would have to have way more points. However to keep it fair you can only buy 1 weapon at a time, so you can't go down with a sniper and rockets. Don't worry though, there will still be weapons on the map.

Now if you have been reading this far and aren't mad at me, you might like what's next. Ever been in the position where you need a vehicle, except you can't find one. Well I think we should be able to call in vehicle drops, from a pelican. You would obviously call in the drops using your points. So lets say I called in a pelican to drop me a mongoose. I would have to hold my position, for 30 seconds, until the pelican comes. If I die, the pelican will come anyway, and drop the vehicle, anybody would be able to take it.

So that is the basic of the mode I am thinking of. Obviously there are problems with this idea, like communicating with a team of 20 but people have said a squad system might work. So yeah, this is my idea, and tell me what you think.

PLEASE READ
Oh and if you want to see everyone's idea's, go to page 8 and go to AbruptArc's post. Also I highly recommend you guys look at Half Demon ANBU's post on page 10. I would post them, but I don't have enough room. Ok, I have gotten a lot of post saying I've copied this idea from Section 8, and I would like to say I didn't. I had no idea what Section 8 was when I made this thread. I just found out about it when someone mentioned it a couple of pages on, and I then googled it. I watched some gameplay videos and all I found similar was dropping from orbit(in Section 8, it's more like the sky). And so I am sorry if this idea isn't "New" enough for you guys. Next time I make a thread about a new idea, I'll make sure no other game has ever done it before.

  • 04.23.2010 9:25 AM PDT

For Realz Yal?!?!?!

I think that would go on for a little too long. Just thought someone should say it.

  • 04.23.2010 9:27 AM PDT

NEVER WOULD BE POSSIBLE OR EVER HAPPEN!!! Get out of dream land and be happy with invasion.

  • 04.23.2010 1:23 PM PDT

I

Cool. But you copied section 8 'cause i own the game.

Scarpio, Sniper till the grave

I do like the idea, but you do have to realize that Halo has alwase been about the smaller more personal combat, even in big team battle you only have 8 people you have to worry about and tell which ones you have to keep track of. (example-if someone on the other team is actually good with the sniper you will know very quickly and either go after him or be able to stay out of his way). This lets you enjoy a game without having to worry about the one uber player on the other side. With the larger games like Killzone or MAG for the PS3 I found that you cant keep track of the players that will give you a hard time and ultimately cause you to throw your controller in anger.

Another issue I have is that for this game to be pulled of you would have to have games that last more than an hour or two, thats a long time to be playing without seeing your stats increase or being able to take a break. Again I found with those long games like that on the PS3 you find yourself getting tired of the game. So even because this is a seperate gametype, a large number of players will play it, and get a game fatigue, and want to put down the game (NOTE: this obviously doesnt go toward all gamers only towards those that play casualy)

Like I said I like the idea as a whole but even if the astronomical chance that bungie would put this in the retail game succeeds I wouldnt want to play it more than once or twice. I think I will stick to the smaller more personal style of combat.

No wonder the Covenant lost as soon as the Elites came over to our side. After that, we had all the re-spawning troops, and they were stuck with the soldiers who only could die once. Kind of a crappy decision on their part.

Overall, this is a great idea. A few changes that could be made though.

1. You should not spawn in the cruiser. Maybe you can guide your drop pod to a certain location, and choose to spawn either in your drop pod or in a team-held base/location.

2. When you get points, you can access a "drop menu" from the start button. From here, you can use your points for either a weapon or vehicle drop off at your position. Maybe, you could even drop off Covenant tower-like positions, with turrets and guardrails that could be destroyed. When you drop things off, though, a marker will be visible to allies and enemies, and it will take a few seconds to drop off.

3. You should also be allowed to "Invest" your points, which would help the team's overall score but prevent you from getting drops with them. Lets say if you had 15 points, it would be equal to one kill for scoring purposes.

what if the teams of 20 were split into squads of 5. Each squad would have a specialty such as snipers or anti vehicular troops.

My opinion is better than yours because I have a somewhat good K/D. And I'm 14

Sounds cool the buying a gun part is a little weird though

Hello! I'm Bunie.net's resident medical student (hell i'm sure there are more but I'm the only one who openly declares it!) I love my emblem, and I am periodically active.
I have a Twitter

I would so love to have it but the sad truth is it would be way too hard to implement

Hell Yeah! Your Rite On Track With This One. But For This Game Mode, It Should Have A Few Differnt (2-?) maps Because We All Know The Same Maps Get Boring All The Time

I have to admit, I was pretty surprised when Bungie pulled this one.
I don't see why it wasn't kept as an employee's thing, while the Legendary edition owners get something else, like a chrome jetpack or something.

But yeah, I doubt it will be that common.

  • 04.24.2010 9:30 AM PDT

This seems like a beast idea. it sounds complicated and really hard to pull off, but i personally think that a complicated game type would be fun. but thats just me.
