excellent idea, FYI i voted yes. i would like to suggest that instead of having to buy weapons you just have troops dedicated to the weapon. Snipers spawn up top. Soldiers with BR's spawn at the front line. Soldiers with rockets and vehicles can be scattered about. Where you spawn can depend on scores from previous games. Maybe if you have >500 headshots you qualify to spawn as a sniper and so on. And of course there will be snipers on the map for those who are looking to get their sniper score up. The only thing I can not think of is how spawning would be determined if everyone has over 500 headshots or zero headshots. I would definitely play a 20v20 playlist.

Some ideas:
1) When each team enters the map for the first time, there is a assault rifle in front of the pod for your first use, it would contain 2 clips.

2) Each team is given a beacon at a certain point in the map...when any player reaches their teams beacon, they can open a menu that, when seleted, gives the option to bring in any vehicle from orbit. Like you said you would have to wait 30 seconds for the pelican to come and drop off the vehicle.Of course anyone may take it at will.

3)Lets say you had a 20 kill streak before you died, you spawn in the cruiser, you take a way down to the ground(see next idea)and instead of going to a gun shop, you can go to your beacon and call in for: Light weapons for 100 points:Pistol,SMG,and Frags. Standard weapons for 400 points:Assault Rifle, Battle Rifle, Frag, Shotgun. Heavy weapons for 1000 points:Rocket launcher, Spartan Laser, Frag, and Missle(spelling) Pod. This makes it safer instead of running out trying to find a gun to use.

4)When a player dies and respawns, they are given the option to
A:Take a Pelican down for a longer but safer ride down to the ground.
or
B:Get back in a HEV for a faster but more dangerous ride down. Do to the force when hitting the ground, your shields will take a decent amount of damage, leaving you vunrable(again sorry for the spelling) to getting killed easier.

5)I'm using the 20 kill streak again...if you deside to not spend your points then you will of course be able to save up to obtain a better weapon supply.

So far that's all I got...hope i can come up with more. :]

Some people might ask: How would you get back up to the ship?
Well, after you die, how about your just injured(spelling i think) and can't fight. your body lays there for a minute. Then, after 60 seconds, a pelican comes and picks up the people that have fallen and gives them treatment. then they are ready to be sent back down.

How about 21 vs 21, because that way 1 stays on the ship to act as captan(spelling). that way it brings some MORE strategy. Then for the leader its kind of like chess.

Why...would you want to go back to the ship? It's multiplayer, not campaign, you don't NEED to survive. In fact I'd think it a lot easier to just die and respawn with full health since this isn't a deathmatch style gametype.

I like the idea of a weapons shop on the map but not that you can get killed. It would be too easy to kill someone. Maybe they have a time limit, like 30 seconds, to buy a weapon and get out, otherwise they can get killed. i also like the idea of calling in a vehicle. but instead of going directly to you, they go to a specific team drop point. like red team has a specific spot and blue has a different spot, so you have to go and get there, but only your team can enter the drop zone. if you dont get there in time, your team can take the vehicle.

Maybe for assault, instead of just planting it once, plant it 3 times so if one team isnt as good at slaying, they have a chance to catch up.

Also you can only call in vehicles from certain spots, like a vehicles shop, so its not you get a certain amount of points, you press a button and yo ucall in a ghost. Too much CoD.

But otherwise that is a sick idea. I love it.

Bungie if u have had the chance to see this idea. DO IT!!!! please! its a very good start to what could become a very brilliant idea,the part that I do not like so much is the part where your able to go to a weapon store and buy weapons, but the idea where you can call in a pelican and get it to drop off a veicle for you is sooo smart! the thing I would say though for that is that you would need a spacific amount of kills and then hold off that position for a spacific amount of time!!! ( the better the veicle, the longer you need to hold off your position ).


Ok so if you like this idea please give me a message of a scale of 1 to 10. Because what i think of this idea is just sooo epic!

Why wouldn't you want HEVs? They're deployable anywhere. Also, if your pelican is taken out, you and your passengers are dead; a HEV being taken out consists of a single death. It's part of the orbital insertion doctrine.

I like your ideas a lot. Especially the spawning in a ship and dropping in a pod. I had the same idea a couple of months ago. The weapons lockers are a good idea too. I think that at 0 points you should start with a magnum and have access to BRs and ARs. A choice that many people would enjoy having. However, you can't take both. You have to keep the magnum as your secondary until you get to the surface. So even as you unlock more powerful weapons at higher point values you can have a sniper and a pistol, rockets and a pistol. No sniper and BR, no rockets and AR, no energy sword and shotgun.

I think you could have the system work with any gametype. Not just slayer+assault like you originally suggested (a good suggestion by the way). In assymmetrical games you could have the attackers drop from pods and the defenders wake up from cryo in their base which they have to defend.

Some great ideas in this thread.

I think u should only be able to drop down onto the map once. This would speed the game up and i think that each team should have a base that they can buy weapons from instead. This would be the bomb target. I also think you could incorparate territories into it and make more bases scattered around the map which could be captured and then captured by your enemies if you didn't defend them very well. You could spawn at each of your bases as long as no one was capturing them. Your main base woulden't be capturable.

I doubt the engine will be able to handle this. You'll need a VERY large map with a huge skybox not to mention details on the insides and outsides of two giant cruiser ships.

Great idea though.
