I do like your idea. The Halo multiplayer should have a massive multiplayer experience much like Killzone or Mag if the 360 is to compete with the PS3. I like the idea of a massive Team Slayer battle. 20 on 20 sounds great. Like you said, it needs dedicated servers...
I very much dislike the idea of a "weapons shop." Well, I dislike the way you decribed it. Players, once dropped on the map should be restricted to stay on the map. That means no respawns in UNSC bases or cruisers. Such respawns would take away the "feel" of the Halo Multiplayer Experience. The option to choose weapons before respawning would make the game more like Call of Duty, and to be honest, I like The Halo Multiplayer idea of finding your own weapons... Here's a thought. A player can access the shop, during gameplay, but not before respawning. (The player should first make sure there are no enemies around, as they can kill him or her while he or she accesses the shop.) 20 to 30 seconds later, a UNSC or Covenant (depending on player class 'Spartan,' or 'Elite,' or anything Bungie may want to add) weapons drop takes place on that location. But like you said, it would cost points earned from kills. I do like the idea of pelicans or phantoms dropping vehicles for players to use...
Which brings me to my next point. Before the teams can access the bomb, and make their final assault, they need to reach a total of 200 kills. Not points earned from kills...

In addition to the idea of "the perfect map" why not create a few perfect maps? Instead of one?

Ever play Gears of War? I like it's game type Warzone. This game type has rounds of elimination in one match. I would like to see something like Warzone (team elimination with rounds) in Halo multiplayer. And I like the idea of 20 vs 20.



I don't know if the 360 could handle massive online games like MAG. Maybe it could do 20v20 but I heard that PS3 beats 360 in processing power or something like that.


for the game phantsy star univers you easily had over 40 people on one floor where everyone could see you and know what they were sayin when they typed it in public chat so i dont think it would be a problem for the 360 but the issue may lay with the servers

So this is how the game begins. I can't find the thread for it but somebody came up with the idea of spawning in a UNSC cruiser(or a Covenant one) and entering the battlefield with a HEV. I like this idea. So the game starts off with both teams in a UNSC cruiser. You have to find a HEV pod and go down to "The Perfect Map"

"The Perfect Map" is a map, imo, that utilizes everything. That means every weapon, and vehicle. That means that the map must have large open areas for snipers, vehicles ect... but, it must also have tight areas where the shotgun would be the best weapon, and everything in between. It would be a hard map to make but I believe Bungie would be able to pull it off.

When you enter the map you will start off with normal team slayer. The score will be 200. Once you're team scores 200 kills, you will be given a bomb, and you must finish up the game with a game of assault. However you will ONLY be given the bomb if you reach 200 kills. If blue team has 200, but red team only has 150, then the red team won't be given a bomb. Once red team also get 200, the get their own bomb.

Now there has to be a few twists. A big one I think would be adding Campaign scoring. so every time you kill somebody you get points, and you get more points when you get medals. Now obviously these points can be used for bragging rights, but maybe they can do more. Ok lets say you were doing really good, you just got a killing frenzy, but you died. You have a lot of points, because you got 10 kills, and not to mention the medals. So you spawn in the cruiser, but instead of going straight down, you go to a weapons shop. With those points you can buy a secondary weapon. Now I bet the thing I just said probably made 50% of the Halo Reach forum's population get mad, but just bare with me. These weapons would be expensive, so even though you got 10 kills, maybe you only have enough points for a Battle Rifle, or Carbine. In order for you to get a sniper, you would have to have way more points. However to keep it fair you can only buy 1 weapon at a time, so you can't go down with a sniper and rockets. Don't worry though, there will still be weapons on the map.

Now if you have been reading this far and aren't mad at me, you might like what's next. Ever been in the position where you need a vehicle, except you can't find one. Well I think we should be able to call in vehicle drops, from a pelican. You would obviously call in the drops using your points. So lets say I called in a pelican to drop me a mongoose. I would have to hold my position, for 30 seconds, until the pelican comes. If I die, the pelican will come anyway, and drop the vehicle, anybody would be able to take it.

So that is the basic of the mode I am thinking of. Obviously there are problems with this idea, like communicating with a team of 20 but people have said a squad system might work. So yeah, this is my idea, and tell me what you think.

I would post them, but I don't have enough room. Ok, I have gotten a lot of post saying I've copied this idea from Section 8, and I would like to say I didn't. I had no idea what Section 8 was when I made this thread. I just found out about it when someone mentioned it a couple of pages on, and I then googled it. I watched some gameplay videos and all I found similar was dropping from orbit(in Section 8, it's more like the sky). And so I am sorry if this idea isn't "New" enough for you guys. Next time I make a thread about a new idea, I'll make sure no other game has ever done it before.


I like this idea, also, did you mean that each team has a cruiser, if you did maybe you could plant the bomb on the enemy cruiser by taking a multi player flying vehicle to a hangar, from there to get the the bridge of the cruiser and plant the bomb, you then have 10 seconds to get off the ship. I think this would be a very good map. Also maybe have a version where you don't need so many ppl, like 5 vs 5 or smiting for little games with less lag.

Sounds too long winded to me. Considering most people have the attention span of a 5 year old in a lollipop factory, and with the way people quit out, I don't see it happening. Good idea though

I agree so I think you should be able to do quick join stuff. Like just have an option to join a game in progress fill in the people not playing.

use the system of choosing weapons in the reach beta, but, like in invasion where different tiers are unlocked as you progress, they are unlocked individually, through a certain number of kills

Not sure if this has been posted already, but what about new/different loudouts that are obtained, say, every so many personal kills, or when you get specific things. Possibily predefined, as in you can customize what loadouts you want availible, using a forge like money system, better loadouts costing more, with a money limit.

On the whole a good idea, I would cange a few things though, for instance you choose your weapons and armor abilities inside the cruiser then drop to the battlefield. Once down there you have to secure one of two bases (your team can only ever hold one base at a time). These are where you spawn when you die, if you cant get to one you take longer to spawn and you cant change your loadout. Also there are certain areas on the map you can hold for weapon or vehicle drops, you get no points for this it just shakes things up a bit. Thats my input anyway, hope you like!

I think this is a brilliant idea, it would definitely add an interesting twist to the game :)

There is one thing I might add though, maybe it would be better if it was based on ODST's, rather than Spartans, as the ODST's are the only one's who make extensive use of HEV's. (yes, I know Spartans do, just not so much)

While it could be in Halo Reach, maybe it could be an add-on for ODST? 800MS Points?

That's just my opinion, otherwise, brilliant idea mate xD

Great idea. If they cant do the map and 20vs20. I would LOVE the spawn in a phantom or a UNSC cruiser. It will bring a real war feel to the game.

Sounds like a good idea but one thing.

This kind of sounds like a First-Person-RPG-Shooter with a little bit of Halo Wars. And you also said Everyone would spawn in a UNSC Cruiser. What about the Elites? Would they spawn in the Covenenant Cruiser or The UNSC Cruiser?

Some of my ideas to make this GameType the best

-Offer alot of Skill and EXP

-If you want to drop as a Squad or something, you can use a Pelican [Or Phantom]

-If yor Squad mat quits, instead of fighting alone, your squad mate gets replaced by an AI

-When calling in a Pelican Drop [Or Phantom Drop], if possible, put a few AI players on turrets for protection

-On "The Perfect Map" offer a few Covy Bases, a few UNSC Bases, and 1 Fortress for each side [Covy and Unsc]

-Plant the bomb in the Fortress as mentioned

-For every team [Covy and UNSC] a few infantry units such as Grunts and Marines spawn in secluded Bases outside the map and come into the fight via Pelican [Or Phantom]

- Have lots of hills, trees, small brick fences, Shrubs, Rocks, One big mountain in the center of the map, and Crash sites to hide behind.

-Like in invasion slayer, capture a teritory and hold it for 30 seconds awards a Pelican Droped [Or Phantom Droped] award

-Lots of Easter Eggs :D

-Let the Cruisers have open landing pads so if you have a Hrnet [Or Banshee] you can fly into your cruiser and buy something instead of comitting suiscide

-You can fly into Enemy Cruisers

-You can destroy a Pelican [Or Phantom] with a rocket or Spartan Laser

-If you want to deny enemy fire power, you can fly into their Cruiser and destroy their power core, thus giving you 30 seconds to EVACUATE

-Falling of a Cruiser will engage Drop Lock

-If you are Covy and you reach 100,000,000,000 points you have the option to deploy a Scarab which can be destroyed like in Halo 3{THE SCARAB DOES NOT ARIVE AT THE MAP UNTIL 60 SECONDS AFTER DEPLOYMENT}

-If you are UNSC and you reach 100,000,000,000 points you have the Option to deploy a Carpet Bomb witch can be stopped if you get into a UNSC Cruiser, locate and destroy the Beacon before it gets to the map 60 seconds after deployment

What would be cool to add is you could call in a squad of two ODSTs that would follow you around until they died and be the olor of your team. You would have to buy them with your points, and then they would shoot down in pods, but they wouldnt be really hard to kill.

Its a good idea but the only problem with this is how would the connection cope games types in other games this large lagg so much so if this could be sorted it would be a great addition to Halo: Reach

Im glad you posted this ujjval16 because me and my friend were actually talking about this type of thing in my 3rd hour. I like the idea of the ship. the idea we had was that while the respawn counter is counting down your falling in the pod and when the counter hits zero your pod hits the ground and opens up. So it makes waiting interesting because it will allow you to see action on the field from up high and give you that feel of suspense. Very nice idea though

It has potentiol, but it would take Bungie damn near forever, take alot of resources, it would be the laggiest gametype in gameing history (even with deticated servers, 2 cruisers, possabiltiy of multiple pelicans vehicles etc. all on the perfect map, which would be freaking HUGE for a 20v20, you get the picture) It would jsut be all round freaking insane.

I think (as I have said before in one of those posts, probably lost forever in the sea of major postage) that this is good, but it reminds me "SOMEWHAT" of Battlefield 2142's Titan gametype, just not as large. Personally, I'd like that gametype to be apart of Reach, if possible. But it doesn't look very possible for a few reasons. One, Reach is already almost finished. Two, Bungie has always been reluctant to go over the 16-player limit (dedicated servers might soften this). Three, Invasion is likely an answer to the call for such a gametype as this (and don't quote this over and over saying "Oh, Invasion is nothing like this gametype!" We haven't seen Invasion in the full game, so perhaps [pretty sure there will be,though] different versions of Invasion, maybe like the slayer/assault kind of gametype this thread is suggesting).

Those are my only reasons that would stand in the way of this gametype becoming Reach legit.

I feel I would enjoy it (though I hate how I am to late into the discussion to really be noticed or credited, so I will give up on trying to imput cool ideas). And for those saying it would take forever- I seem to remember about 3 motivated members of the Halo 3 team worked their butts off during the last few months to give us the great FORGE mode. If those 3 members miraclously see this discussion, then all of these people's hopes with come to fruition.
