Campaign is the meat of any game, regardless of personal preference. The MP shouldn't be ignored, but the campaign shouldn't take a back seat to the MP component.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Counter Strike, Star Wars Battlefront, Unreal Tournament, Quake Arena.

Campaign? Sure. A nice one with a good story, non repetitive gameplay, characters, etc would be great.

But 2 years in, Im not going to be playing the campaign. I am going to be in Matchmaking. So if I have to choose, it will be multiplayer because I am going to get the most use out of it, and every campaign in the Halo series had at least one element lacking, whether it be repetitive levels (H1), terrible cliffhangers and frustrating level design (halo 2), needless game-interrupting cutscenes (H3) or plot holes the size of the Arc (halo wars). So my hopes aren't too high for the campaign.

Vancouver BC, Canada.

The Campaign needs to be solid. Always.

The Multiplayer needs to keep players attached for as long as they play the game. With the never-ending Firefight, I believe this will be accomplished.

I vote for the Campaign.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Needz better Campaign

Campaign tells the story, Campaign is the reason the game is happening. It needs to be improved on.

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

Campaign should never be ignored for multiplayer, this is where Bungie needs to spend most of their time. Multiplayer should be considered a bonus to the game.

wes smith

where's the optin for both

the storyy of a game sells alot of games

but MP also does-since alot of people say halo 3 SP sucks-which in my opnion it doesn't

Just enjoy the damn game!
Who cares about BR vs AR

Multiplayer in Halo 3 had its flaws, but i felt cheated by the campaign. Dare i say it, but I thought it was poor compared to other Halo games. It had a fantastic story, and wrapped up the series, but the individual missions were poor.
Campaign, even though I will play MP more.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

In order for it to have a fantastic story wouldn't it need a story to begin with?

I'm not sure I get you here, what exactly are you refering to, Reach, or the campaign on Halo 3?
I was trying to say it had the fantastic story that was present throughout the entire series, but Halo 3 just didn't have the quality of missions to maximise the experience.

Halo 3's story was mediocre, it was a letdown after the stories of Halo CE and Halo 2.

that and Halo 3's missions sucked.

I understand what you are saying, but your missing my point. Campaign is the meat of gameplay, it's the core, the center, whatever you want to call it. That doesn't mean the campaign directly effects a games longevity (the good ones sure as hell do), but no matter what anyone prefers the campaign is the main portion of any game that attempts to have a story.
