Ahh but your so called fact, has no evidence or proof to back it up. I'm not really interested in another Halo 2 vs. Halo 3 argument. I've already been through like 5. But I guess you leave me with no choice. So here it is:

My fact:

Halo 3 > Halo 2

has plenty of evidence to support that fact. The ratings between the two games says it all. And if you're going to count other things like Gameplay, Graphics, Sound, and Features, it's obvious Halo 3 is better in all of those categories. As for multiplayer, it's debatable, but Halo 3's multiplayer does have more features. So there's my evidence. Where's yours?

Ratings are opinions. Gameplay and sound are both opinions. Graphics and Features can be factual in that Halo 3 has a higher level of graphics and a greater number of features, but whether or not one enjoys one over the other is entirely an opinion.

I can't provide evidence for an opinion, and me stating my opinion as a fact was just my failed attempt at humor. I respect your opinion and hope you respect mine.

"Microsoft believes gamers will forgive them for it."

Screw you, Microsoft. I didn't even play Halo 2 at the time it was popular, but I enjoy popping on there every so often to check out the old maps. I don't stop playing a game just because it's old.

Maybe, just maybe, Microsoft will release Halo 2 for Xbox Originals, except ACTUALLY CHANGE SOMETHING and bring the friend list up to date.

Anyway, since it appears they haven't shut it down yet, hopefully this rumor is simply false. I still want to be able to play it when I get done with my other games.

You just became my new bestfriend. =]

Actually, most people will stop playing games once they're old. The world's very first video game called "PONG" is no longer played by the majority of games. I don't see MLG hosting "PONG" tournaments. I don't see any modern gaming leagues hosting "PONG" tournaments. Eventually, not yet, but eventually, Halo will end up like "PONG". Of course that won't be until like 50 years later. So we have about 50 years to enjoy Halo until it ends up like "PONG".

Everyone cares about opinions, that's why we socialize on a forum with strangers.

PONG is a bad example because it's quite possibly the most simplistic game known to man. People still play Pac-Man, don't they? They still play Tetris. Just because a game is old doesn't mean it's no longer popular.

And besides, Bungie's very first game was a PONG clone... released in the '90s. You can't tell me nobody plays PONG anymore if Bungie was able to make any amount of money on that game when it came out at the same time as games like Doom and Super Mario World.

This is just my opinion on online gaming between Halo 2 and Halo 3. I have more memorable moments playing Halo 2 online then if I played Halo 3 online. Halo 2 was more balanced and there wasn't as many ways to die in one shot. For example, Halo 2 had only 4 ways to die instantly: shotgun, sword, rocket, sniper. Now in Halo 3 you can die instantly in 8 ways: shotgun, sword, rocket, sniper, missile pod, fuel rod, spartan laser, brute shotgun thingy that you can duel wield.

I think when the game is more challenging to kill someone, such as Halo 2, it makes for a more fun gaming experience. I remember getting home from school and playing Halo 2 online was the first thing I did. I got a Xbox 360 and played Halo 3 online a lot but didn't get the same experience of awesomeness and fun playing it. It wasn't as fun as it used to be.

So during this summer I sold my Xbox 360 and went to Craigslist where I bought an original Xbox Halo Edition and enjoy playing Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 like I used to when I was younger. And am soon going to get Xbox Live again and play Halo 2 online.

That is just my experience of what I think of Halo 2 and Halo 3 playing online.

風 Swift as the wind
林 Quiet as the forest
火 Conquer like the fire
山 Steady as the mountain

That article has been disproven the Halo 2 servers are not being shut down.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

1. Pac Man is also very old, and yet it has a lot of fans. Same with Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, or other 80s arcade games.
2. Screw MLG, they also dont host Team Fortress or CS 1.6 or quake or other tournaments either, yet hardcore games like those have many people on. Oh, and pong is NOT 50 years old.

I doubt they'd shut it off just like that. I would expect at least 6 months notice - at least they best not shut it down before I get to enjoy 5 year anniversary celebrations!

I would love it if they produced a patched Halo 2 (With the friends list issue fixed, nothing else needs touching) for download on marketplace, I'm sure people would buy it - especially if they added some achievements. I guess I can dream...

They have achievements on Halo 2 for PC.

Alright fine, PONG is almost 40 years old. I occasionally enjoy Pacman from time to time. But obviously I prefer Halo over Pacman. And MLG doesn't host those games you listed because MLG is a console gaming league. So they won't host PC games. There are other gaming leagues out there that host PC games.

  • 10.09.2009 10:03 PM PDT

Heh, I played Pong when it first came out.

-blam!- friends, i think the average person has about 30-50 friends on their friend list. why would we need 100+ more? i doubt people even play with the half they have! and how does shutting down a game server help increase friend space?

MLG also doesnt host other popular tourney games, as there are many good games that are fun to play in tourneys like melee or quake or unreal and those are on consoles! Not to mention, you can even have a game tourney with 2 Game Boys and a link cable.

I don't play H2 much, but I still hope they don't take out MP. It's fun to get on and play some old school maps every once in a while.

That's just wise old M$ for you. What hell do I need 100 friends for? Having 100 virtual friends probably means you have 0 physical ones. I never have more than 10 people on my friends list at a time, and really neither should anyone else if they kept it updated and deleted people they never talk and/or play with on a regular basis.

I'll be silently raging about this for a long, long time to come. Halo 3's MP doesn't hold a candle to Halo 2's. All I've ever felt like doing during MP in Halo 3 is snapping my disc in half.

Relax people, halo 2 is not shutting down. That was just a rumor from oxm which was proven to be false.

Actually, if you have over 100 friends in real life that all have Xbox Live, then you're going to run into problems due to the limit on the friends list. Plus, some famous people or groups like Rooster Teeth might find it useful to have more than 100 friends. And the friends you have aren't virtual. They're all real people as well.

This is -blam!-! I have a 360 and Halo 3 but I play H2 online with an original. My internet is not compatible with 360 Live. Even if it was I'd still play H2 more than H3.

Halo 2 is outdated unfortunately, and some people want over 100 friends. I can no longer find games in matchmaking and have given up.

halo 2 is great, i never got to play it online and i want too but 100 friends is already enough. halo all the way
