This snipe was brought to you courtesy of Paradox V1 :) Have a nice day

halo 2 is an fps classic, and no one could ever kill it. without it what would all those people who have had to get red rings repaired do otherwise? what would all those people who dont have a 360 do? i dont think there are any xbox original titles worth playing online anymore except halo 2.

I think the original xbox game "MechAssault 2" is also worth playing online. And also, Red Rings don't happen anymore for new or repaired xbox 360's. And even if someone does get red rings, how are they supposed to play Halo 2 without an Xbox 360? A lot of people sold their original xbox's when they got a 360. I kept mine but most others sold theirs.

:( why microsoft, why must you end halo 2. we don't want more friend list spaces, we want to play halo 2 online. seriously having 100+ friends on your friend list is too much. keep halo 2 alive.

xbox live will become a dark and gloomy place without halo 2 and it will be a sad day indeed when halo 2 is shutdown.

retard so many hackers, modders and cheaters! im too many glitches too, worst halo game out of all of them. halo1 success halo2 fail halo3 sucess and odst success.

Halo 2 was the BEST Multiplayer Halo Game. Period. I have some of the Best XBL Memories on that game, but all of that will be gone. And it absolutely Boggles my mind that One of the worlds largest Companies that has all the resources in the world, and they can't even implement a way to work around this. Saddening, really.

You clearly don't understand anything about how Xbox Live works. They can't work around it because it's hardcoded into the games. It's the same reason why we can't add jet engines to old wooden planes or rocket engines to commercial airplanes. It just won't work without rebuilding everything from scratch. Halo 2 is not popular enough to justify rewriting Xbox Live from scratch and getting it to be compatible with everything. And even rewriting Xbox Live from scratch won't fully solve every problem. Original Xbox Games would all need to be re-written and released to finish fixing everything. That would cost Microsoft too much money. Halo 2 is a dead game compared to all the other modern Xbox 360 games.

Like I mentioned in another post, Microsoft has to shut down Halo 2 eventually. As Playstation Network and Nintendo Wi-Fi improve, Xbox Live will be left behind in the stone age just because of Halo 2. Fortunately Microsoft will never let that happen. But they'll have to sacrifice Halo 2 as well as every other original xbox game.

Good bye halo 2. online games and friends now unable to play together, but the hours spent on that game...priceless memories. Never forget the first online game that brought fun to simple gaming.

I'm so glad this was a rumor. Today I was actually going to start playing Halo 2 more and when I saw this thread I almost had a heart attack! But, after reading this makes me want to play even more so good riddance to Halo 3.

Was actually going to play some H2 this week to relive old memories, this thread scared me half to death. But Achronos edified us and brought an end to this madness. I love H3 more than I loved H2, but I still don't want to see H2 die anytime soon.

Like I said, rumor or not, it's going to have to happen eventually. Original Xbox Games including Halo 2 are holding back a lot of progress on Xbox Live. If Microsoft wants to continue competing with Sony and Nintendo, they'll have to make some sacrifices. And since the Xbox 360 is all about next-gen gaming, Halo 2 does not fall under that category.

I know how you feel. I've only been able to play online for a month.

Long live H2!

halo 2 will live long indeed. In the hearts and minds of the halo 2 fans.

There is still a way to play. If you want to play Halo 2 or even Halo CE you can play for free on Xbox connect. It's a tunneling software that you download. Just google it; it's hard to miss. I think it would be good if a lot of people used it. You never see anybody on it anymore and an increase in users would really help them out. And plus, how embarassing would it be for Microsoft if right after they shut off the Halo 2 servers all the H2 players dropped their live subscriptions and went to play Halo on Xbox Connect

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! More friends versus Halo 2? I'd choose Halo 2 damnit! And what of the poor fellows stuck with original Xbox consoles who yet played Halo 2 Live? Screwing them over that's what this is doing! One of my best friends, Peter is in suck an unfortunate position. Is it just to take this away from Peter and those alike? Is it just to take away such from anybody? I'll be damned when I get an honest yes for an answer. Are these bleeding updates always for the greater good? Last time Microsoft gave us the great update which turned 360 gaming consoles into Wiis. And I suppose the 'final solution' is next? It is not always about moving ahead. History is what is becoming of Halo 2. We shall not forget it, as long as it is still played. In a sense, this is being taken away. Shame on me for not admiring Halo 3 or ODST very much...sure if that is what you see... if that's what you see you are certainly missing my point entirely. It be not of advancements here. This here, Halo 2 is of a view, expressed in multiple ways by all fellow gamers alike. Hell, not only gamers even, but kin who have thee in their everlasting thought. Thou shall ever reckon thy Halo sequel, H2. Shall Halo 2 be nullified, sent to the great journey unto thy valley of the shadow of death then so shall thy everlasting thought. Think not of the third. Think not of the new. Think not of thy sacrifice and it's accomplishments. Think of thee, as a memory. One memory that in time may rule all, all of thy kin. To crave. To crave thee. This decision be not of the greater good but of starvation. To end the hunger is to end thee. One can not survive a world of advancement without thy history to look upon for comparison. One may not advance without just. One will not survive whence stripping thy fellow of thy wonderful creation at which thee crave. Aye, bungie, I speak of thee. You mustn't act upon such advancement by taking the history away, look upon the past as a guide. Thy unfortunate Adolf of deutschland realized this however 'twas too late. Shall thy fellow bungie of Kirkland make madness of old similar? No, think not of it I mustn't. For the decision is, however shan't be made. Weep not I must. Onward I speak. Thy lame words are ill. Poisoning. Perhaps thee will not learn from thy mistakes. Perhaps thee will epic fail? Forgive me father Achrones for I have sinned. Not of thy commandments but of they hierarchy thou has but created. Now I shall take up an offer of the cold night, and take rest. Think not of thy words as ill but as constructive. Think of thy poop Peter, of thy fellow people of the new world you are degrading by stripping thy classic Halo sequel. Long lasted thee. Forever it shall stay within memory... or will it? No, it will not be clear to thee now, not immediately. Though thy decision shall become pity whence your future you've created arrives. In effect you are the harbingers of your doom. I see you're quite the poet.

Sprechst du Deutsch? Hast du ein Xbox 360 und Halo 3? Halo 2 ist nicht gut oder es ist sehr alt.

Hope you can really speak german to understand that phrase.

Anyways, sure there are a few people stuck with original xbox consoles. But it's not that many people. Not enough to hold back progress. You see, this whole argument is really an argument between liberals and conservatives.

The liberals who support progress and advancement tend to not care if Halo 2 is shut down or not.

The conservatives who support holding back progress just for one old outdated game tend to become very concerned if Halo 2 is being shut down.

Now, if you can forget about the past and start using modern english instead of ancient shakespear english, then we can have a decent argument.

There's a reason why we use lightbulbs today instead of oil lamps. It's newer technology. Well, Halo 2 is like the oil lamps and all future Halo games are like the lightbulbs. Being a liberal, I'd prefer to use lightbulbs than oil lamps.

Now as I said, I do acknowledge that there are still some people who are stuck with the original xbox. Well, this country is a capitalist country. If we were a communist country, then we would have a standard xbox live service with both systems having the exact same features. Well we can't let that happen to Xbox Live. For the sake of progress, Xbox Live needs change! It's change we need. It will happen! And it's not if we can, but rather Yes we can! Those words are a slight modification of the wise wisdom of President Barack Obama. Like the health care system, Xbox Live needs reform.

Just like how our constitution is constantly amended as time goes on, Xbox Live also needs to be changed as time goes on. Being stuck in the past is not a good thing. Over the years, in order to form a more perfect union, ensure domestic tranquility, and provide for the common defense, sacrifices had to be made. Laws had to be passed restricting certain rights in order to protect other rights. Well, Halo 2 needs to be sacrificed in order to progress into the next-gen Xbox Live and attract more gamers of all types. This is a critical moment in Xbox Live history. Either stick with the past and keep living it while other systems move on to the future or make a tiny sacrifice and progress ahead of the other systems. We didn't get to the moon by trying to build a giant wooden ladder. We did it through innovation.

Hopefully, that knocked some sense and logic into you.

Danke Shon! Du bist sehr interessen. Dein Englisch ist alt. Du bist ein conservative. Du musst habe das future sehen.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

They looked much better than Halo 1, and they were on the same system as Halo 1. And even though there were other games that had better graphics (Half Life 2, DOOM 3, Ninja Gaiden, BURNOUT 3), Halo 2 still had some of the best on the system.

Oh, and Halo 2 is NOT being shut down, it would make as much sense as Valve shutting down one of their games, as even though they shut down their older games, they made updated STEAM versions of them.

The problem is, Xbox Live works a lot differently than Steam. The only solution to save Original Xbox games would be to re-write all the games so that they fully support the new xbox live and then re-release all of those games.

Actually young sir, I do understand. My xbox 360 is currently inoperable therefor it is no more. I rid myself of all but the past for micro-soft is seeing its end in the near future. The 360 was doomed before the ship even sank, using out dated hardware somehow managing to adapt new software and make it so... somewhat. Though it works well when operational there just are too many problems the xbox has that is impossible to prevent. Halo 2 was my favorite for multiplayer, screw graphics. Kids these days want too much in terms of everything: realism, instant gratification, "things," etc. Do you understand my point though? Sometimes life is at its best simple. Not to put anyone on this forum down... but look at retarded people. They see the world without all the wants but through needs and we as the majority normal see it as weakness when it ultimately is easy living. Now do not misinterpret thee, I do not wish for us all to run around as a bunch of insane baboons to live right, (although I'd hate to say that it already happens just look at us Americans,) but rather to progress with our past in tact and in memory. If Halo 2 is to be discontinued over as it was then I seek reassurance it will not be lost for good... perhaps conventions. Times as such to enjoy the past. More I have to be said however I hope I won't have to explain, for thy ears are wise are they not? Übrigens, wo haben Sie Deutsch lernen? ~Cm
