Subject: Bigger Big Team Battle?

Let thy be killed by my blade

How about a huge game with like 30 people on a huge map? Make a specific couple maps for this gametype and have it be flag or assualt with squad based idealogy. And have a lot of vehicles and possiple new vehicles. Come on like a MAG or Killzone type of BTB!

My new B.net account is Grizzled Ancient. If you see him, its me.

that would be really cool. but then the game would have to be like, 120 frames per second so there wasnt as much lag... but other than that it would be sick. 30 in all or 30 on one team?

I was thinking 2 options one for 30 to a teeam or 15 to a team.

Due to the way computers work, it'd have to be 16 v 16 max, or 32 players.

Study your binary children =)

And yes, this needs to happen.

30 vs 30 would call for so much lag. It would be unbearable. I would like 12 vs 12.

You'd be surprised.

The only reason lots of games lag so much and Halo doesn't is the fact that lots of games don't purchase good servers, and their lag programming sucks. Bungie has always been amazing and programming good lag systems, and we know they have access to the best servers out there, so if they go for 32 players or even 64 players, they could probably do so without lagging it at all.

Also, hilarious quote:

True. Now that I think about it having the -blam!- beat out of you with a pool ball in a tube sock by your degenerate pimp is the better choice.

Binary, which is how all computers work on the most basic level, works on an exponential system of 2s. Exponents of 2 are the only units of measurement on computers. Memory is the best example: 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB and so on. Also, 1GB is in fact 1024MB. There is always extra tagged on, and it's always an exponent of 2. This also applies to online games, if I'm not mistaken. You'll notice that most games have a maximum of 16, but if they go above, it ususally hits 32 as the next landmark, 64, and so on from there. MAG, the largest multiplayer game to date is going to have 256 players, an exponent of 2.

There you go =)

Some people cannot afford to buy faster internet, or do not have it available to them. Thank you for being an insensitive prick.

I intend to live forever, or die trying,

so far, so good.

That what I've been asking for.

A Battlefield Halo version, made by Bungie of course. With Pelicans and Scarabs. It would be sweet. Even have some of the stuff from Halo Wars.

They should make the next Console Hex, where it can read 16 states of information at one time, not just 2 states. This is what Military PC users, and why they are much much faster.

But as Time Glitch v2 has said, most games use this 8,16,32,64. Hex would still be the same. But have seen games have 30 and 50 players. But HEX would equal more flow of data, therefore a higher bandwidth required.

Unforuntely for me, I live in Australia. Our Bandwidth sucks.

It sounds fun, but if you can have massive lag in a 4v4 imagine playing 15 v15 or 30v30. THAT WOULD SUCK -BLAM!-

Not trying to undermine your computer knowledge, as I have a rough understanding of what your saying, but as a question, how does COD4 9 vs 9 multiplayer work?

  • 08.14.2009 12:29 AM PDT

Wouldnt it make too mch lag? i mean big team slayer isnt popular so it lags quite abit for me anyway cuz others who want to play are relli far away, bigger teams would make this worse. mayb it just me cuz i live in a retarded place in the middle of asia

Well here's the thing - alot of people play Halo so if Bungie if they were to have dedicated servers they would need a -blam!--ton of them. Too many for any sort of practicality cost-wise, space-wise, or time-wise. So here is Bungie's (and other developers for major titles) solution - have one person in each game host the match on their connection. This (usually) works fine in small games of 4v4, but as more people are in the game, the strain on that connection is increased to the breaking point. Home internet connections simply don't have the bandwidth to manage 30 let alone 60 players' game data in AND outbound. I'm sorry to tell you but it simply wouln't happen. Mabye 9v9 or 10v10.

PS: It's not that it COULDN'T happen - it's that it WOULN'T happen.

  • 08.14.2009 12:42 AM PDT

Halo is the biggest game in the world. It would be extremely hard to max past 16 players. If they did this in Halo: Reach, the max players would be 16, or 32, since it runs in a specific code made for computers.

7/1/09 Bungie Favorites- RECON Devil
9/9/09 Bungie Favorites- Champion
5/22/10 HaloCharts Favs- Prey

Dude I don't care and my grammer is perfect.I used "Big", as you recall it to mak is specific."to not do...",is incorrect beause "do" is present tense/perfect(or future) when it was a past tense.

32 or 24 total would do it for me.

Even a small increase, maybe to 18 total players would be fine.
