...Does anyone really read these?

From watching the IGN e3 videos i noticed when Dr. Staten started the campaign the level was Mombasa streets. It started off as the Rookie in his drop pod at night. this might be the equivalent of Sierra 117 in Halo 3. The first mission in ODST would actually be the training mission like Arrival. This first mission would include that first cut scene we have all seen and a speculated "training". I think the training will take place on the ship possibly before they drop or there could be no training mission at all and the game just starts at the cut scene. Just a guess.

Yes i used the search bar you bunch of 8 year olds.

Does anyone want to talk about my idea?

  • 08.14.2009 3:52 AM PDT

Hmmm, none of the Halo games have ever had a training level per se, the first bit of the first level is usually enemy free so as to get used to the control system but other than that.....

I just don't think you'd need a training level.

Your lack of searching disturbs me. So does the lying.

That is completely different to what i am saying. You were talking about a full mission. i am just talking about the inverted controller and controls thing and mission starts. Thanks for putting thread commercials in my thread.

I'm curious as to what you put into the search bar. Couldn't have been anything related to this particular thread.

>=( I am saying that he started on the Mombasa streets level which did not include the first cut scene so so there is supposedly another mission before such as a training mission. Maybe i am wrong. "Just a GUESS "

I think if there was a training little thing it would just be shooting your gun...and then I think after the training the Rookie falls asleep. ( Explains why he is asleep)

If there is a training level its probably going to be onboard the ship.

I say this because judging from previous Halo games, Bungie have made an effort make the "training" level plausible; testing the shields, getting used to new armour in Halo 2 etc. The only way to have a training mission in new mombassa would be having text based instructions on screen which would cause a lack of immersion, something Bungie have avoided previously.

Actually having said that, I remember a message telling me too crouch by clicking the left stick in Halo:CE. I can't remember what Halo 3 did either.

One other possibility that came to me as I wrote this was maybe you access one of the SI's terminals straight away after landing and he guides you through some kind of training (possibly virtual). However I don't think the SI can talk other than certain pre-recorded messages (Keep It Clean) and so I can't see how this could work really.

In Halo 3 i believe all they had you do was look at a light(a marine was holding it), up and down, then asked if you wanted inverted or not.

i bet they'll have dutch do the light thing with you before he hands you the the smg

I think you do the look up/down thing in the pod.

  • 08.14.2009 6:43 AM PDT

7 lines isn't long enough for a signiture! =P

MegaHaxPwnage

It would be a very good idea, although the only reason i can think of there not being a training level is the fact that it is an expansion for Halo 3, meaning that most players 'should' have played Halo 3.
