he would say not yet because hes a spartan who is not afraid of death.. he expects to die that's why.

That's a very simple minded way of putting it. I won't believe it for a second.

Chief's a simple guy. If you watched the whole trailer you'd see he jumped into a platoon of brutes.(Straight towards the Chieftain) And you say he fears death. Pffft...

The implication of the video is that the boy is John when he was a kid and the girl is presumably Kelly or perhaps Linda. The reason why these memories are stirred is because John is temporarily knocked out and is dreaming or revisiting these old memories. Dreams are more likely. He is seeing through the eyes of his younger self when he starts regaining consciousness hence him seeing his mjolnir helmet. As he gets up you can hear the girl still talking to him saying "Time to go".

The problem is the kids never got time off to just hang out and stare at the sky. The trailer is based on Earth and John was never on Earth as a child, hence it was him dreaming whilst temporarily knocked out.

The point of the video is that as a child the MC may have indulged in thinking about meeting an alien race and that when he grew up he did but not in the way he would have ever considered.

Oh and that he's badass.

Don't know how this links to the Reach game. Or why this could even suggest time travel.

Signatures are for squares.

Sigh.

Just because Chief says he isn't dead yet, doesn't mean anything about Time Travel. It's an expression. He was stating that he isn't out of the fight yet, but he expects to die eventually. His luck has to run out sometime.

then your a fool. and this was a trailer for halo 3 not reach.. your looking way into this and are letting your imagination take over what really makes sense.

You are the fool my friend. What makes sense then? How do you explain everything i mentioned? The children talking about if they will ever meet them? Master chiefs helmet? You would rather believe the easy thing of oh he's going to die anyway. Your little mind isn't strong enough to fathom anything i mentioned here.

Or, it could simply have nothing to do with Reach, because the people who did the video had nothing to do with Halo 3.

It was a video made to advertise Halo 3 by a third Party. No way in hell they were advertising a game they didn't know existed.

John never traveled to earth until he became a SPARTAN. He was born on Eridanus II, and grew up there till Halsey conscripted him into the SPARTAN project, so its clearly not John's memory, since its obviously the cliff side in Voi. And it doesn't suggest time travel at all.

I don't know, I'm pretty sure Chief is a bottomless reservoir of luck and badassery. Just listen to how Cortana tells it.

Maybe you should read all post before assuming anything. In fact I was defending myself from another post who was calling me a Fool. Get your facts straight ok? Either that or take a seat.

Actually, his current posting record indicates that he can. (I have seen on the forum at least five different threads entitled "Will Reach have Balls?" written by him.)

It seems that even though he is asking us a question, he is not willing to listen to an answer other than his own.

There won't be time travel becuse that is the worst idea ever Bungie would never do something so dumb

  • 08.14.2009 4:02 PM PDT

I would say the "Starry Night" trailer is memory of when John was younger, back on Reach in the begging of the Spartan II program training. Being knocked by(Banshee fire, explosion, ??) he may have slipped in to unconscious for a few seconds and remember that memory/had a dream or both!

And of course Bungie going to put hints in a commercial for a game that was still a year away from retail release, about a game that they may or may not have even thought about at the time.

  • 08.14.2009 4:03 PM PDT

I am not sure about time travel, but maybe because of the relationship between matter and spacetime Halo: Reach is in fact taking place at the same time as the rest of the Halo series, but just appears to have happened before.

I have posted a theory about Reach. I am not say this is what happened, will happen, or what I want to happen. It is just a theory.

Just because you think it's the worst idea ever makes it not true? Please take a seat on the ignorant train my friend.

"HSP: 'Time travel' has been decried by some readers as one of the more hackneyed plot devices in story telling. The events of Sep 7, 2552 at Reach provide ample possibility of that device being employed in Halo 2. What comments do you have in regards to time travel, Halo 2, and storytelling in general? [Or, paraphrased] Time travel is a little corny, don't you think?

JS: Absolutely. Teleportation is a different matter, however. Used sparingly, it works great as a plot-device without stepping too far outside the hard sci-fi boundaries of the Halo universe."

JS = Joe Staten

Again, just because one doesn't like the idea, does not make it untrue.

That is Staten. You know, the guy who writes the Halo universe?

Also, if the Chief went back to save Reach, and did save it, Halo 1-3 would have never happened, preventing him from going back. It creates a time paradox which can't be undone because no one in the different time lines knows about it. Time travel just wouldn't work.

... maybe he had a change of heart and put time travel into play. Maybe his dog told him to do it and he agreed. There is no reason why H1-3 wouldn't have happened either.

I could say the exact same thing about your thread my friend. I have THEORY here and nothing else. That doesn't require people to automatically assume it's wrong just because they don't like or think it's possible as your thread says. I have a base for this theory, so it's not some random thought.

Is this a joke? You're looking way too deep into this. I doubt Bungie even knew they would be making Reach when that trailer was created.

Halo 1 happened because of what happened at Reach. Halo 2 happened because of Halo 1. Halo 3 happened because of Halo 2. If you STOP the glassing of Reach, the first Halo ring would have never been found, preventing subsequent events from happening.

Your "theory" has no hard evidence. It is NOT a theory, it is an idea. One that has been proven impossible by the person in charge of where the storyline goes.

None of that matters. The person in charge of the story could have changed his ideas. I have provided evidence for this theory. The trailer with alot of clear facts that are being over looked. You limit your mind to what someone else says, even if the 'person' in charge says it's not true.

But you are wrong. If you actually read other people's comments, you would've seen that they all proved you wrong on so many levels. Maybe you should familiarise yourself with Halo canon and the timeline before you start making retarded theories.

And if your are 15 or older, I will be very suprised.
