One day... I am gonna grow wings... A chemical reaction... Hysterical and useless... hystecial and let down and hanging around... crushed like a bug in the ground.

"uBER fACEPLAM"

Lol No

That was a good threoy but it is very unllikley.

If you have read Halo: Genisis you should no about how fast signals sped across the outer and inner colonies.

And the UNSC can jump huge amounts of space.

The marines are Johnson and another marine.

The connection is that the kid is most probably the Chief. The chief has been temporarily knocked out (and his helmet has been knocked off), and his mind is conjuring up old memories.

Ok then, but that is not the point of the post. The thing is that waves/particals dont travel distances in an INSTANT. Additionally, the presence of staisis pods seem to indicate that it takes long periods of time to get to places, even with the human version of the space slip. This means Reach could NOT have communicated with Earth.

We know Bungie is developing a new game after Halo:Reach.

I have hear of no such thing. In fact Bungie won't have full rights over the Halo series soon.

Humans use slipspace which is like jumping out then back in to space. In only takes 1-3 mounths.

Aww... but I WANT to rant without reading your theory! (*Walks Away*)

I like your sense of humor. We need more of that.

Thanks for the info. I have not read the Halo books series. This was just a theory I thought up and wanted to see where it would go. The entirety of my theory is based off of real life physics. But then again, its a video game.

Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

I find it funny that people make these threads, even though bungie SAID it's a damn prequel.

Yes i came up with the majority of this theory yesterday. I tried to explain it the best i could but everyone flames it until there was nothing but ashes. I believe the "Starry Night" trailer is not limited to just a Halo 3 commercial. Most on here get upset because they don't want to believe this has been sitting under our noses before H3 even launched. I find it very interesting the chief responds to marines asking if he's dead. "NOT YET" he says. Also, at the end of Halo 3, Master Chief says to Cortona..."Wake me WHEN you need me". Not Wake me if you need me. But When! And exactly when he says this...Cortona looks very concerned. This could be a relation to they are heading towards Reach.

"Wake me, When you need me"

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Frankie confirmed that Starry Night takes place on Earth and the children aren't connected to John in any way.

The whole "not yet" thing is John responding to the Marines on the COM who think that he is dead.

You are completely missing the point here... It's not that MC is saying he's alright. He's saying "Not Yet" as a way of he knows when he dies.

Now, during the colonization of other planets, how did the humans on those other planets communicate with Earth? Did they communicate with Earth? Because of the distance between these colonize and Earth, it would take MILLIONS of years in order for any signals to reach Earth. That means that any events on these planets could NOT be known on Earth for a LONG period of time after they occured. An easy way to mix up dates if other planets distance from you is constantly changing (orbit around star, the star's movment, and the galaxies movment).

I think if humans can make space travel almost instantaneous, we can make communication even faster. Don't forget how signals are sent, by infa red light beams. And from what I heard light travels pretty fast. So combine the speed of light with the instantaneous travel speeds and you've got something!

I haven't missed the point, that's pretty much what I said. I never said it was John saying he is "alright" now, did I?

Good point. agreed on that particulary theory

THat just made me think. What if the chief went into another parallel universe (or back in TIME!) and landed on reach. Then was like "Holy crap the planet hasn't been pwnd!" And then busts a move and saves Reach! That would be awesome.

The ships travel way faster than the speed of light. The universe is a vast place that where we measure distance in Light Years. Hundreds of light years. They have ships that enter slipsace to transport information from planet to planet

I agree that he MAY mean something when he says WHEN you need me and Cortana seems very concern but i dont think that the planet is reach, its a shield world(not onyx) maybe the Precursor dudes or a race was/is very aggressive and the Forerunners locked them in there.

MC was only kind of at Reach, he didn't touch down on reach at all during the BfR; he, linda and james went on a space op to destroy a unsecured navigational database from an oni prowler on a orbiting station. When linda was shot down inside the station, MC evaced them and the marines (Jameshaving been blown off station by a rupture in a fuel line, and was assumed MIA after ship scanners failed to locate him) at which point the covies had taken down the first of the orbital MAC guns and were slipping through to start burning the planet with plasma bonbardment.
And the way the books explained the space traveling capabilites, they didn't normaly travel long distances outside of SS (slipspace) which was considered an alternate dimension that was actually our dimmension warped and bent in and around it self. Enteriong and exiting SS allowed for faster travel because of these warps and bends.

Just for the record, Humans don't rely on "physical" travel. They jump into Slipspace (another dimension, basically), which allows them to travel 2/3 light years a day. Covenant are a lot faster though. They can travel either 10lyp/s or 50lyp/s. I might be wrong though. I just know they can travel better and faster than humans. Can't remember the exact number though.

And like the guy above me said. Chief was only there for a small part of the battle. He didn't even touch ground for the first few days (since he was on the first Halo). He went with two other Spartans (Linda and either James or Joshua) to destroy a Nav computer to stop the Covies from getting their grubby mitts on the co-ordinates to Earth. Hell, even when he went back to Reach, he was only there for a little while to pick up the remaining Spartans.

Warning: You may find that my, or someone else's opinion does not comply with yours. Side effects of disagreement may include (but are not limited to): flaming, irrational behavior, broken keyboards, and/or nervous sweats. If you experience any of these symptoms refrain from communicating with others until the symptoms have subsided.

"In Halo: Reach, the blockbuster prequel to the Halo trilogy, experience the events that transpired on the planet Reach. Created by acclaimed developer Bungie, Halo: Reach will be available in the fall of 2010 exclusively on Xbox 360. As a bonus for Halo fans, Halo 3: ODST will be the key to entry for the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta coming to Xbox LIVE."

From the second post quote, and previouse posts, I infer that Humans travel at a much slower speed than covenant. Being that the closest planet to Earth that could even POSSIBLY support life (in real life) is millions of lightyears away, it would still take MILLIONS of days to send signals. A human life doesnt even last 1/8 that long.

The point I am trying to make is that by using math and logic, it seems that humans could not communicate with their colonies. Then again, it is a video game. Bungie could make 2+2=fish for all they care. Sometimes real life and video games are seperate (amazing I know)!

yes that is kinda the idea,.

  • 08.15.2009 5:02 PM PDT

Slipspace is not instantaineous. Human slipspace speed is 2.5 lightyears a day, while the Covenant's is 197 (or something like that) lightyears a day. Forerunner probably is though.

  • 08.15.2009 5:08 PM PDT

why are you looking at this?

its the future in a fictional world, also the boy is the chief and hr is either talking to a family member or a fellow spartan. and the humans did develop the tech before they met the covenant. and the H3 ending planet is not reach, although they look similar there are differences (circles are thicker on reach and resemble large cities), reach was also glassed and there would be no atmosphere or lights on it.

In the trailer, it says "From the beginning" then "You know the end." Please tell me how we would know the end already if this is a sequel as opposed to a prequel.

Let me be clear that I dont support time travel. But if Chief did come back in time, he would in fact know how it would end, from the beginning. Let me be clear that this thread is not my opinion of what will happen, but just a theory that I saw a possibility in.
