Subject: Will this be an RPG game

'Pancakes, Griddlecakes, Hotcakes, Flapjacks. Why are there four words for fried batter, and only one word for love?'

-George Carlin

In this case, you can indeed say never. Bungie has explicitively stated, (Not rudely, mind you. Blatantly.) that Reach is going to be a Halo Style FPS. For your own proof, take a gander at some of the weekly uupdates that came after E3.
EDIT: That's not saying, of course, that a RPG-ish Halo game would be bad, just that it will not be made by Bungie.

could you give me a link, cause i thought they simply stated it will be an FPS. and even so, with a few tweaks and additions any of the halo games could be an FPS. add a bunch of customization, change how you progress through the story and missions. I also think that since the battle of reach seems kinda short, it's going to span a lot more than just the fall, but most likely climaxing or ending with the fall. if this is the case, progession could even be through the induction into the program, the first mission, countless new missions we haven't heard about. They could create all new parts of the story just in the space between what we see in the books. From the begginning you know the end or whatever, possibly pointing out that we DONT know the middle

Dude I don't care and my grammer is perfect.I used "Big", as you recall it to mak is specific."to not do...",is incorrect beause "do" is present tense/perfect(or future) when it was a past tense.

How the hell do you make any RPG? Halo isn't the style of gameplay, it's the universe. Same thing for a class based game, close minded fools
I just don't see how it could work. You can't go around doing whatever, because you're busy following orders to the letter. Unless you play a civilian, in which case there is no point to it being in the Halo universe.

Following orders yes, but just like in the books, and in real life, decision making soldiers choose how to accomplish those orders. We could even change the squads setup. In the books John chooses his squads and commands each a different objective. As somebody pointed out to me, i dunno if its true though, bungie said the book canon doesn't exactly follow the game canon. I don't really like the idea of less continuity, but if he was right then it's well within the realm of possibility
What I understand from this is, basically a linear style of level, but with many possible paths. By my definition, not an RPG. Oh, and Bungie said that the books ARE canon, with certain small elements being ignored (such as Johnson's immunity to the flood).

I see, oh and I said i didn't hear that directly. still though, multiple paths can easily be changed into any path. the new operation flashpoint is and FPS, not even an RPG, but it's completely open world leaving you to do things however you want. Bungie blows the doors off the hinges when they try something new, i'm almost positive they'll do it again.
Open world would work fine, but I just don't like the idea of "your MJOLNIR armor has advanced to level 56. You should rest and meditate on what you've learned." Then riding on Blind-wolfback to the town of 1337awin so I can sleep at the inn.

R.I.P. Halo 2

I have two questions:
1.Where do you get this idea that it would be an RPG?
2.Why do people continue to ask this question?

I ♥ Bungie!

it could be.
