Well, you see, I think this is where the zoom-SMG comes in.
1) If you fire it in short burst, it acts as a BR.
2) You are in a city! Close Quarters! Automatic weapons are more efficient! If you really want to try a long-range hit, then go for it with the pistol. But just tell me- where will you want to get a long-range hit? Short streets and small parks aren't exactly good distance-killing areas.
3)There will still be BRs in Multiplayer. It just Halo 3 Multiplayer, and I'm sure you can probably hunt one down in Firefight.
4) Stop whining about it, the only thing a lack of BR will do is make you move on your toes a bit, instead of camping and picking off enemies in the streets. Which takes more skill: crouching behind a vehicle, only popping your head out to sneak a headshot every 5 minutes; or running around a brute, avoiding the plasma bolts and opening fire to drop him like a sack of bricks?
But, just so I don't get flamed 'bout my arguments, I am a BR fan. It is my favourite weapon to use. My point is though, you can't change what Bungie puts in a game a month before it's release. Just improvise, and move on. Think of it as a revert to the Halo: Combat Evolved, good 'ole fashioned gameplay, without a weapon that can save your ass simply by it's presence in the game. You must adapt, and think about how to take out enemies differently than Halo 3.
