I encourage all to watch the starry night trailer a couple times to actually understand what i'm talking about. Most will conclude it has nothing to do with Reach, and that it ONLY goes into the Halo 3 time-line. However, this could be wrong.
No one has any proof as to who the 2 children are. They could be John and Linda, or they could be fire breathing dragons. It's all speculation. Now, if you watch and listen to the trailer. You will hear the Male child ask the female, If she thinks, "Anyone is up there." She then replies, " Do you think we will ever meet them?" This is then echoed into the next cut scene, obviously portraying some kind of importance. Next, MC picks up his helmet. The same helmet is clearly visible in 2 different time frames. One is with the children, the other with chief when he picks it up.
I would like to then point out that the children are gazing up into the night sky. Pondering their thoughts with one another. After all, it is a starry night. But in-fact, if i learned anything in high school, then i would say this next part is foreshadowing future/or past events. When master chief looses his helmet...you can tell he's struggling with the intense glare of light. He waves his hand up into the sky, trying to shield his eyes. This is also when the 2 banshees pass over-head. Either way, MC also looked up into the sky as did the children.
There is then chatter on the communication lines. Someone asks if there is any sign of the chief, "negative, i think we lost him!" Master chief then replies..."Not Yet." Why would he say not yet? Why not say, I'm still here. Or maybe, I'm fine. But no, He responds with a somehow knowing of his fate. And clearly he did not die in Halo 3.
The part i'm trying to get at...Why would they put these two kids in this trailer, if they had no role in the story at either past or future events? Perhaps Reach? Why would all these little things like, "Do you think we will ever meet them"? Or master chief responding with, "Not yet" as if he does die at some point in time. Why would Master chief say to Cortona at the end of Halo 3, "Wake me WHEN you need me." Not IF BUT WHEN! and Cortona looks very concerned when he says that. (watch for yourself)
Here's the part no one likes. What if in fact at the end of Halo 3, that planet is Reach before the events that occurred? Maybe those words of, "Do you think we will ever meet them", is pointing to Cortana and Master Chief going back in time. Before Reach ever happened.
Thanks for reading my Theory...but if in-fact you think this is all totally wrong, then just take it as a story line i made up. You don't need to flame someones opinion, even if it is different then yours.
Wake me when you need me
