Why do so many people like the gritty, ugly, colorless art style of Unreal Engine games? The best thing about Halo's graphics is how colorful it is. If Halo 3 had the same drab, boring color of Gears of War, it would look terrible. You can't have a game with an open world like Halo while simultaneously having the graphical fidelity of Gears.

it does look "terrible" when done to that extent, however when done in moderation it can deffinitely help to remove the fake feeling you get whilst playing under halo 3's current graphics.

Exactly.

i think if you want a darker game with out a dull color scheme, then i suggest bungie make the storyline real dark and gritty. kinda like battlestar galactica, or those short movies that was based on halo. a story that shows the horrors, and the human side of the war. that way everyone will have what they like.

This the original Halo.

This is with a slight contrast boost.

Nice. But I still would like darker. Keep the color palette, but add different textures and darker shades to make it gritter looking.

And the characters and Covenant need to be updated to make the game feel more realistic and less cartoony. I really feel the Halo Wars rendition of the Arbiter's armor fit very well.

get out of here stalker

I'd like the game to be just a bit more realistic, like random weather effects that can help you sneak up behind enemies, but can also keep you from noticing them. Or rain, which can make a warthog occasionally slip. Weather effects could make the game a bit darker, giving it a grayer tone from the effects. Or there could be different environments, like clouds covering the sky, darkening the ground, or ash and dirt swirling up from the ground.

I was just making that as an example. There a lot of different ways to go, but that was just a start.

This might be random, but I never really liked how Halo 3 had this... cartoony and unrealistic feel to it. I really want Halo: Reach to dig deep and cover itself in some grit. I want the game to feel like I'm watching Saving Private Ryan or Letters from Iwo Jima. Halo 3's environments constantly reminds me I'm in a video game. But I want to see some grittiness and feel like I'm in a war. The Halo Wars Arbiter (before the armor change) looked INSANELY realistic and dark, and that's what I want to see. We're fighting for our SPECIES, why not make it more despairing and sinister? I want emotion from the atmosphere, not only the story and characters.

Well, that's my opinion anyway.

I agree with you 110% I feel the exact same way.

You have no rights, play nice.

I think this is a good direction for halo.

Gears of War suckk-blam!--blam!--blam!-ssssssssssss, I don't understand why anyone likes it(must be the hype) COD is a good game but it doesn't look any better then halo 3, it looks even crappier(Truthfully I didn't even like halo 3 that much).

All I have to say to that sentence is this.

Here's my advice to you son, its a life lesson you shan't forget.

Some people are like Slinkies. They aren't good for anything in particular, but it still makes you smile when you push them down the stairs

this thread is full of win.

Now all we need is realistic gore, like when i melee an enemy in the face, i want to see his visor shatter and parts of his face scatter around the room, instead he has his period then curls up and goes into perminant sleep..

Either like Gears of War or Halo: CE. Actually, a combo of the two. Gears of War has the "Dude, we're totally screwed" feel to it, but Halo: CE has more of a creepy feel to it. I'd like a combo of the two.

I think like this, but less cartoony colours.

This is cool.

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic.

That movie is a little overboard, while yes, it's realistic, doing that in a Halo game is definitely overboard. I would like to see gore a very little bit to that extent, but not like...people and heads exploding.

Actually, everyone who watches that video pay careful attention to the first 10 seconds or so. That's the beginning to the level Floodgate. THAT kind of dark atmosphere looks really good for a Halo game.
