That is just Mendicant Bias speaking the the Master Chief, telling him he seeks atonement for dooming the forerunners, and risking the Galaxy.

As for the "YOU ARE NOT READY, NOT YET" It's simply telling you to come back on legendary difficulty to read the full message.

I think what he means with "Fraught with peril" and "Holding it together" implies he is trying to hold the Halo ring together as you escape, that is why there is a path you an follow to escape.

1. You are correct about seeking atonement. But its the wording.
2. Did you not read what I had to say on the last terminal? It makes no sense because YOU DO NOT NEED TO KILL ANYTHING YET.

Thank you for your time.

:D

Good point, but it may just be that if you were reading the terminals in order (and the campaign) on legendary, you would be "worthy" of the information. For fighting through it all)

(Maybe it's me, but you came off slightly jerk-ish there).

Some can come away from reading "War and Peace" thinking it a simple adventure story, while others can read the ingredients on a gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.

Actually I found the last terminal first accident when playing on the last level my first time. So it made no sense. That Idea you have could be correct. But if you look at the other terminals on different difficulties many talk about the same or similar thing but from a different perceptive. I believe that is the case here as well.

O and sry I thought the :D and little phrase made up for it.

Your is not the same as You're

Plunk.

A total FU exception has occurred at your location. All system functionality will be terminated. Press any key to power cycle the system. If system does not restart; scream at top of lungs and pound on keypad. If you need to talk to a programmer press any other key Press any key to continue_

Preliminary operational tests were inconclusive (the damn thing blew up)

Nice, and well researched. Since ODST and Reach are both prequels, and Bungie clearly (gladly) hasn't put the brakes on the Halo series yet, even after leaving Microsoft and all that, it does seem very possible. The bean counters will like it too, everyone knows that anything that has "Halo" in the title sells well.

It's cherry, tastes like strawberry, looks like watermelon, and you think it's raspberry just because.

Wow good theory, and I have a theory for the blue sun (other than it is really old). I am going off the assumption that the mystery ending object is a Dyson Sphere. What if the Forerunners took fuel from that star to make one for the Dyson Sphere?

Fuel? Stars don't work that way. All you have to do is stick a bunch of hydrogen and other substances together until it chain reacts. Then fusion occurs and gravity increases.

I know how stars work, I just said fuel (which is what it is) instead of saying hydrogen, helium, and carbon, cause I'm lazy like that sometimes.

I believe that Mendicant Bias was in their, and was transferred into Cortana. He managed to hide himself in Cortana, even going so far as to integrate parts of himself into her code. When Cortana left the control room, Mendicant went with her.

This appears to be very possible. It would further explain a few of Cortana's quotes from the game and Halo 3 reveal trailer:

"I have defied Gods and Demons" ~ Cortana

Perhaps that is Mendicant Bias speaking through Cortana. Think about it: MB has defied Gods (the Forerunner) and Demons (The Flood).

ALSO:

Given the information that you have provided, it seems possible that Mendicant Bias had planned for the MC and Cortana to separate from The Arbiter.

It is possible that, as the Ark Portal collapsed, he sent them to a specific location (the planet that we see at the end of the Legendary ending). As you suggested earlier, perhaps MB wants to show the Forerunner (assuming they are alive on the planet that we see) that he has changed. As you said, Cortana and MC could be proof of that.

100,000 years of effort leads to MC and Cortana finding this one planet. All of his effort leads up to this one moment, perhaps.

ALSO:

Consider this:

http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Two_Betrayals_%28Level%29

On that page is a transcript of the dialog within the level The Two Betrayals. Perhaps at the beginning of the cutscene it is not really cortana speaking, but rather MB speaking through her. If the Master Chief had activated the Halo that early, it would have thwarted MB's plans.

Not to mention Cortana seemed far more hostile in that scene than she ever had before. This could be because of her supposed slip into rampancy, or more possibly the bit of MB speaking through her.

I thought it was just because she suddenly became a know-it-all lol.

After reading your theory I kind of thought of my own. What if MB somehow made the 2nd part of the ship, Foward Unto Dawn containing Master Chief and Cortana to the coordinance of the Legendary Planet? Kind of like....

Arbiter --------->---------------------------->--------------------------E arth

117 ------------>-------------------------| (Stopped in Portal due to MB's plan)
...........................................................|
............................................................|
............................................................| ------------------------> Legendary Planet

GT: Duffman9205

I believe the Cortana Letters have been said to not be part of the canon, but besides that and some spelling mistakes, very nice job.
(also, it could be a little better organized)

Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphors have two parts : form and interpretation; of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom being the briocoleus, the mason.
***END MESSAGE***
***JUMP ACTIVATION INITIATION START***
***TRANSPORT WHEN READY***

The terminals mean nothing, there is no Halo 4 and never will be.

read the quote from guilty spark. he says that in an attempt to stop the flood, the forerunners (obviously) fired the rings. and "They, and all additional sentient life within three radii of the galactic center died, as planned."
not flaming, just saying that unless 343 was wrong or messed with (possibly by Mendicant Bias) basically all the forerunners are dead.

Key word there. "They, and all additional sentient life within three radii of the-". Only the ones withing the reach of the Halo's and weren't in the shield worlds would have died. Also remember that 343's data was compartmentalized, he wasn't allowed to see the big picture. He basically knew everything about his rings and knew crap about everything else. He even says hes glad to see that some of his makers lived to reproduce. That means he was kept in the dark. In case he was ever captured by the flood, and they would learn the forerunners location.

I imagine some Forerunners survived. They did create a bunch of shield worlds, why wouldn't they use them? I personally believe that when we find out what happened to Halsey & Friends they will encounter Forerunners in the micro dyson sphere.

As for Mendicant Bias.... I believe he helped Chief escape the exploding Halo, keeping his path stable. I'm also starting to think that he may have even collapsed the slipspace portal to cut the Forward Unto Dawn in half intentionally so that the Chief would drift towards that Forerunner planet in the legendary ending. I know that this is a flakey theory at best, but I've thought Mendicant might have been something to do with that unbelievable fluke.

I think if Forerunner did survive they would have left Onyx already. Leaving it for the Humans if the flood ever returned. My theory is they went on there great journey. The thing which the Covenant misunderstood.

There's probably a lot of truth to these theories, but in the end, if Bungie isn't directly involved with the sequel, I have my concerns.

What? I mean a sequel, not a prequel or extension. A game extending the Master Chiefs, Cortanas, and Mediciants story.
