Some can come away from reading "War and Peace" thinking it a simple adventure story, while others can read the ingredients on a gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.

Gentlefolk, several things.
One, let us stop using the Cortana Letters as Evidence for our ideas, they were written before the plotline for Halo: CE was even finalized, and I truly doubt that Bungie would retrofit their storyline that far back. Though, of course, the ball's in 343 Industries' court now, so who knows what they'll do.
Secondly... no, I forgot my secondly. Never mind.
I didn't use them as evidence. It just seemed they supported my theory so it would have been arrogant not to at least bring it up.
I don't base my thoughts on the Cortana letters at all, they simply supported it after I wrote the theory.
I understand that, and let it be noted that I am certianly not insulting your theroy. My point was meerly that they, (The letters,) have little relevance to the end story of the series.
Unless, of course, as I said, 343 does some rather through retrofitting of the series' plotline in the future. Who can tell.(In addition, not to drone on, but my comment was not soley directed at you yourself, but rather to any who might use the Letters as a referance, or the like.)
As you can read from the letter I posted, it may indeed have significance. I find it to perfect to be coincidence, it just falls right into place.
I know that they where created before the plot for Halo 1 was even finalized. When an author begins to write a book, he usually knows the main idea, as well as the beginning and end. Knowing that he fills in the story in-between, I think that is what happened with the Cortana letters and Halo. They knew the main plot points (Halo's, Ark, Flood, dormant AI). Now they may have intended to have that dormant AI (Medicant) on Halo, they would have changed this. Or they could have changed it completely, then went back and slightly altered the story ending to fit with there first "Iris". Again, theres to much that fits perfectly to be a coincidence.
