I'm sure this subject has been broached before, but I don't know for sure for what reasons and to what extent. So, let me explain my reasons. Sometimes I tire of the wonderful world of lag and wish that I could simply play an educated AI player who doesn't have a name like "a big CENSORED!". I'm sure that those of us who have spent a few hours playing Halo PC know what I am talking about and can relate.

I read the FAQ posted by Bungie about a year and a half ago, and except for a few new additions, reformatting, and rewording, absolutely nothing has changed. I realize that much information has been flowing from Frankie's Weekly Updates, but to my knowledge, nothing on this subject has been revealed. Still, on one of the few weekends where I have been completely and totally out of contact with the outside world I may have missed that very important snippet of information. If this is the case, than good god will somebody correct me and tell me to stop taking up valueable space in the server with meaningless posts. On the FAQ I mentioned earlier, it simply said that multiplayer bots were in consideration, and more on the subject would be released "later".

Well, when I read this 1 1/2 years ago, it was in the old 7th Column format and the "date posted" read sometime in the middle of 2000. In that case, it has been much longer than later, and I am starting to wonder if the idea was vetoed. If any of b.net's employee-members knows about this, would it hurt to drop a hint on this? I'm NOT asking you to breach protocol and get fired, please don't do THAT. Just help a curious fan out.

Personally, I think the worst that could happen is the shipping date is a few days later. We've waited 2 years, we can wait a few more days. It couldn't take away from the game, but it would almost definitely add to it. Now that I've droned on and on about my opinion on the matter, answer my poll and tell me what YOU think (if you haven't already done so).

P.S. If you answered "What's Halo 2?" then you are lost and you need to click the little house button at the top of the screen.

Bots, may be excellent for traaining, but nothing beats the real thing, think of it as a marketing strategy for Xbox Live. Peopel without live...have to play Link, and Local Xbox multiplayer, while us Xbox Live gamers play with other people. Non-Live owners want to play with other people too......

No shouldn't even be a consideration if Bots are optional... On XBox Live is a different story though. But on regular multiplayer, if you dislike the bots... there's hope for you... JUST DON'T TURN THEM ON =O.... It's that simple people... I cannot see why people cannot seem to understand that concept...

Bots would give snipers everywhere excellent target practice and would also provide a chance to come up with strategies for various MP maps.

thanks for the feedback. I agree with general fox. No is the answer if bots were not optional, but i've never seen that in a game before. So, if they are optional, you already have my opinion.

Bots are a must, lan parties are few and far between and not everyone can host a 16 player online game with their own rules and maps. Bots would also be good practice.

Bots would be awesome if I had no friends to play with, but that is what XBL is for.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

There should be bots for all the poor people with 56k so they can't have Live. And it would make great practice to play against the hardest difficulty bots.

Yeah bots would be cool, but nothing compares to unpredictable human behavior.

Bots might be good for target practice, but if you want target practice then you should probably put in a fake person (as in, with your second controller) and just shoot at that while moving your own self. Yeah, it's not as good as a moving target, but it helped me to get better with the pistol and I'm starting to take people out with 3 shots from it now. Bots might be good in capture the flag, if you can make it so they don't just charge in and capture the flag when you don't want them to. Also, bots might actually be better than some people. If you have ever played Legendary, you know that the AI is mega accurate, and it would be really bad if they had frag grenade and rocket launchers and sniper rifles. Overall, I think that it could work, but would just be a pain in the ass for Bungie to implement.

I dont have high speed yet I only have 56k so I [i]CAN"T[/i[ play xbconnect or live, which sucks.

I also live out in the country( 10 min drive from town) but I've never had more than 6 people in a game. Half of them are total noobs that couldn't beat the game on normal if they tried. I school them all so bad it isn't even fun, bots would be great because they would be so much harder to beat. It should be like perfect dark, the dark bots were pretty hard, although I could take 6 on 1 by myself. Also they could have specialty bots like instead of turtle sim they could have a sniper sim which only uses scoped weapons.

Even if people do have live there are going to be times when you will just want to sit down and play without some idoit yellig in your ear "I'M DYING COME SAVE ME HELP HELP"

BTW on xbconnect or live do you get to use the controller?

One of my controllers is sort of messed up so if you push the left stick it gets stuck in that direction so i just make it move and practice sniping. as for the bots you should pick their skill based on Easy Normal Heroic and Legendary. i think bots would be pretty good. yea, they would be good in ctf

Bots would be damn fun. As a 56k representative, I can't even begin to tell you how dumb it is to pack up your xbox every single time and walk (yes walk, i'm almost 18 and can't drive, so what) uphill, both ways, in 6ft of snow, etc. to a friends house and play system link with people who suck and smear the ground with them all the time. Don't get me wrong, its fun to rock the house, but you tend to see your skill go down the drain if you dont have a constant challenge. Imagine yourself playing Zanzibar with 15 other legendary bots! That would be sweet, and you would get damn good, fast. Of course, with multiplayer, you shouldnt have bots because it ruins the whole multiplayer experience. A single player option would be great, though.

Haven't any of you bot nay-sayers ever played Counter-Strike? Those bots have some good AI and that doesn't even compare with the AI for the Covenant in Halo much less Halo 2. Of course Bungie could easily include bots in this game. This would be sweet for practicing-up before you hit the Xbox Live arena. PLEASE BUNGIE GIVE US BOTS!! OH PRETTY PLEASE!!

So far the only people i see disagreeing with the ideas of bots are those that have xbox live if you dont like the bots turn them off. Having bots is a great idea there are other games that have bots to play against counter strike, tactical ops, perfect dark those are a couple of good ones and bots worked out awesome with different diffitculty settings and bots that have special traits

the best option for bots would be the ability to change there behavior in game, those who have trained in super smash brothers 1 or 2 know what i'm talking about. My question though is how difficult would it be, i can kick one elites ass easy but 6 of them using group tactics, well i don't know. what i think would be really cool though is if they made one BAD ASS (so bad that you would immediantly spray chocolate milk out your ass at the sight of it) Elite that was programmed with thousands of tactics (Search and destry, sniping, stealth) boy that would kick more ass, kind like shooting an already grenade airborn worthog with a rocket.

If bots came right up close to you( in rockets ) and then fired a round boom both dead . Thats maybe why bungie arnt having bots, there may be a way around this problem.
