screw off scope!!! Seripously that was retarded what u said. No one knows if bungie will have bots. I say so cause it makes sense and in one of the brand new mp screens there was odst bots at zanzibar. How u like that biatch!!! That would be the coolest to have like me and one of my buds takin on bots. Especially if u could set skill and how many. I'd pick legendary and max ( I hope 100 lol). And for fps noobs they could own up their skills before their ready to get the crap kicked out of them on xbox live by hmmm (me). Its a no brainer put in bots. Most people (78%) want them so far. And it doesn't hurt or set back anything.

Bungie wants to keep gamers playing with their friends through System Link or Live... Not by yourself

bots wouldn't really take away from your "social experiance". remember perfect dark? bots MADE that game. that way, you could have a 10 player, team king of the hill with just two players. it was FUN STUFF. i think bots would be awesome. i have XB live, but on those days the servers are acting up, or when i just don't feel like hearing some german guy yell at me, bots are always there. like dogs, they always love you, unconditionally (unless they are on the other team). anyways, i'm sure the IA can be beefed up for bots. it can't be that hard. the difficulty is not making them TOO GOOD. (done with known proximity/location)

Bots would make Halo 2 multiplayer a more enjoyable experience than Halo's. To start off with, not everyone can (or wants to) get Xbox Live. Personally, I'd really love to be able to get it, and hopefully I'll be able to soon (Alltel is the worst phone company ever...damn government regulated local monopolies). Bots would provide those who don't subscribe to Xbox Live the ability to have a more immersive multi-player experience, turning otherwise stale 1 vs 1 to 2 vs 2 games into huge slugfests with bots rounding out the teams.

Bots could (and should) be disabled for Xbox Live, however, as the number of players will make them unnecessary.

yeah. no bots on live. bad idea. swapping the AI over the net would create alot of lag also.
p.s- venom -i got my limited edition pre ordered, too! muahahahahaha!

There are bots in Halo, for those who are but 1 player. It's called Legendary.

Who needs bots when you have a bunch of people on live without any skill....

Bungie Weekly Update
04.23.04

"Aaron and Luis have been automating the stress testing. That means they have about 35 debug Xbox systems running overnight, with Master Chiefs running around pretty much randomly, tossing grenades and jumping around blasting aimlessly. In theory, if he gets near a vehicle, he could jump in and drive it around too, but since the system is automated, nobody's actually around to witness the insane nocturnal antics of 35 Master Chiefs.

The purpose of all this is some very useful data gathering. The guys can come in first thing in the morning, see if anything crashed, look at a newly compiled database and see exactly what caused the crash – or at least what master Chief was doing when the crash happened. In the long run it means that testers are getting more stable builds of the game and reducing test time is a big deal. A similar reduction in lightmap rendering time is also saving time – time that will be filled up making the game better and better."

maybe this is early work on bots

Bots are definately not just for playing by yourself, 1v1 or 2v2 still feels kind of lonely in comparison to LIVE play, bots would bridge that gap and then some, and fill the void.

While of course bots are no substitute for LIVE and real people, its underestimated the atmosphere of chaos they can create for people without LIVE (who are, might I remind you, the MAJORITY of xbox owners). The most people me and my mates can have for LAN parties is around 6, there often hard to organise, and sometimes you have to get people over who you arent really friends with and who arent fun.

Bots, which of course would have to be optional, are not just for offline target practice. They create a feeling that there is something seething and moving, a constant battle, they create a feeling of company. Even in Halo single player I found this, and my best experiences are when theres a group of marines alongside you. Bots, or even marines in multiplayer, would add immense value to offline players, which is the majority of xbox owners, so I really hope Bungie do consider this. It would add a lot.

Again, its not the skill or AI of the bots, just the feeling and atmosphere they create, 1v1 multiplayer is nice, but the more things to blow up and kill along the way, the better. Having a team to command would be absolutely phenomenal, Halo2 multiplayer would reach a Nirvana like state if that were the case.

While I wont shoot myself if bots arent in Halo2 , it would be absolutely fantastic if they were. Its good to know everone pretty much is all for bots, because in the past people have been pretty adverse to the suggestion, I think because they believed it would prolong production of Halo 2.

Bots should be otpional. If you want to battle a real human and all of a sudden you die from a bot now that is stupid. Bots should be a otional choice in multiplayer. just click some button to make bots or take away bots. So bungie listen to me please bots are optional in multiplayer.

Well, like someone said previously, the bots would Definitely be optional. Ive never played a game with bots that werent optional. Theres no real argument against offline bots... dont like em --> dont use em.

I reckon that Bots would be a great idea. With Halo 1 I start to see the single player campaign a little tiredsome. I'm not the greatest player but even I can complete all the levels on Legendary (usually takes a long time though).

Through this time I was playing multiplayer (split screen) and found it ver predictable as you could see the enemy screen.

Then I moved onto System Links (and only system links). We didn't have a special central connector (don't know the real name) so the most players we could have was 8 (and usually did). We found team matches with 1 team per XBOX.

Thing is with System Link, each party is so far from the next. To get better I started training. Using the good old method of a multiplayer with no1 controlling the 2nd player. I didn't really see the point as I knew exactly where he was, he stood still, and didn't put up a fight.

I think it would even be a good idea to have bots running round that don't shoot. Have around 6 bots running around the map, so you can practice taking them out with the sniper rifle and rocket launcher. Then if you want to practice training under fire then you can turn up the difficulty of the bots (using the Halo difficulties). They'll go round the map (on the same team) and you can practice, while knowing they may kill you.

Overall this will probably help you with strategies, judging distance, shooting moving targets, working under pressure, close quarter combat.

It would probably help you prepare for XBOX live combat.

Although there is nothing like fighting real people. The bots would be like the filling between the carnage with your friends
