Im sure the flamers will come but IDC, I want to know why all of the sudden durring the war does all the elites dissapear from battle and leave the brutes in charge? from what i understand and correct me if i am wrong but the ODSTs drop right when Regret warps out of New Mombasa, so why is it that no elites are there for the fight?

J-H

I think it's because they were on the ground already so maybe the slipspace rupture killed them all (i know it'd leave bodies etc. but meh) and Brutes were sent to replace them? That makes no sense at all but oh well...

This sounds like Halo 3 you're talking about?

  • 08.15.2009 5:18 AM PDT

really there should be some elites there fighting the brutes

  • 08.15.2009 5:19 AM PDT

it sucks cuz I hate fighting the brutes, I feel like Im playing "planet of the apes" and not halo. I love the elites, they are so bad ass, if I saw an elite with a blade roaring it would give me goose bumps vs a big ape drooling and gargling at me =/

Hey guess what!? I play CoD more than Halo, but I'm not an annoying fanboy. I love CoD more, but I like how involved the Halo Community is...

Because since they are having a Civil war with Covenant they have to regroup maybe on their Home planet or a Carrier. So then they are gonna plan out there attacks.... idk a mini theory of mine.

ODST takes place between halo 2 & halo 3. At the end of halo 2 the elites are allied to the humans, so I assume that the brutes were sent in by the prophets, because the elites were no longer under their command.

  • 08.15.2009 5:20 AM PDT

All the Covenant that were left behind, if any were left behind, got killed in the slipspace rupture from Regret's ship.

During these events the Prophets were replacing the Elites position of power to the Brutes, as their recent failures proved them spent.

Thus in ODST, we are greeted with Brutes fresh off the block. Bring your bananas.

=)

Technically its still during Halo-2 because this is happening simultaneously while Chief is Delta halo. Plus the whole story takes place in 1-2day since everything happened in the day and at night.

No, the remaining Elites in New Mombasa was sent to Delta Halo together with Prophet of Truth/Regret. So the Brutes was going to stay behind and clean up New Mombasa.

When Regret's ship jumps out of New Mombasa all his Elites were either pulled back, or killed in the Slipspace rupture.

Truth's ship, however, has the mighty Brutes as his new protectors.
These are the Brutes we will be fighting in ODST.

Regret's fleet is comprised of Elites but no Brutes (as it seems). Then a small part of Truth's fleet arrives which is comprised of Brutes and no Elites.

The Elites would never leave Brutes in charge but it was Regret who gave the order.

The Flood Revolution is coming...

When Regret's ship made the jump and left most of the city destroyed, the Elites were still the main protectors of the Prophets so it's only right that they are not there when a Prophet leaves. The Brutes did not take over as the main protectors until after the death of Regret was declared a failure by the Elites. After Regret's death, the Arbiter is sent on a mission and upon completion, Tartarus reveals that they planned for him to die. Then the alliance between the Humans and the Elites begins.

So while the plan to get rid of the Elites by the Prophets may have already been in motion or thought of before Regret's death, they did not let it be known so early. The Elites were the protectors, the Brutes were under them.

ODST must take place about the time of the Elites splitting from the Covenent, so the Elites weren't quite by the Human's side at the time, and the Brutes were the new ground units in the Covenenet ranks.
