I swear to god if someone says that a Beta is worth money again, I will slap someone. Betas are supposed to be for FREE. Halo 3's beta was for free when it came with Crackdown, and a six hour campaign is not worth 40 dollars. I swear, the best deal in video game history was the Orange Box. 5 games in one box for the price of ONE. Also, if you did by the other games, at least Valve made the ones that people didn't buy available for individual purchase. Why can't Bungie/Microsoft do this? Greed.
No, they aren't. Some are and aren't. But the thing about betas is that they aren't generally open to the general public. With ODST you are garenteed a place i nthe beta. And the fact that most people had to buy Crackdown in order to play the Halo 3 beta means it wasn't free. In fact, it meant you had to pay sixty dollars to get in.
And the orange box was a good deal, but it wasnt that good a deal. All the games in the Orange Box were about twenty dollars each at release. You saved only fourty dollars and most of them wouldnt be considered full games by your own definition. Portal was only like an hour and a half long. Team Fortress two only came with like three multiplayer modes and five maps. And Half-Life 2 Episodes 1 and 2 were only around three to four hours long each. The only game in the package that came any where near close to a "full game" was Half-Life 2 which didn't even include any sort of multiplayer like ODST does.
And if you're going to bring the Orange Box into this then by comparison ODST really isn't so bad. Half the Orange Box was games that had already been released. So complaining about Bungie repackaging Halo 3's multiplayer in ODST is a moot in that light.
