As you are crossing the Tree trunk, you'll notice random friendly blips on your radar. I saw one of the "friendly"s, but It was there and gone too fast. It appeared to have an assault rifle, but it was moving abnormally. Can anyone check this out? they'll show up to your right as you're crossing the trunk. I saw it on the hilltops. It'll show up out of thin air, then retreat and disapear.

You can't see them, they are completely invisible.

The Master Chief's HUD is programmed to distinguish between friendly and enemy characters. If the range to a character is beyond the visual range of HUD, it'll identify the movement on the radar as "friendly" until otherwise verified--I think that was the explanation in one of the strategy guides.

That was supposed to be foreshadowing for when you meet the flood.

flood as friendly's?
Um... I think that they are marines that still have CNI transponders in their armour and show up as friendlys... but they're the covie form.

EDIT: I've been up there before and theres flood on set waypoints... then they run into a bush and disappear - there are no sentinels!

Hey, if EAGLES5 and Silent Dawn reply to this topic, I'll have all my favorite members on here.
Anyways, those assault Rifle shots are marines. But if you want to actually see them, you have to utillize a glitch in the Game.
What you do is, when the mission first starts, press the grenade button constantly until you throw a grenade from the dropship. Then don't do anything. If you did it right, you will stay in the Pelicen. Just ride it until it lands awkwardly. Then get out(X) and you will see that you are on top of a hill that encircles that part of the map. There are all kinds of hidden stuff up there like Flood bodies and a Marine that only responds to you when you shoot him. Anyways, when the Dropship lands, hop out and turn to your right. Follow the raised area and don't go down. Keep on going until you can see a structure below you. Quickly hop down on top of it and then onto the ground. Turn around and look inside the Structure. If you were fast enough you will see floating Assault Rifles that fire the Shots and then disappear.
if you don't see them, try it over and you should get the hang of it.
By the way, when you are going up the tree trunk, look to your right, there is a clump of trees and bushes. Go to the back of them and there is a active camoflage there. You have just enough time to jump back on the Tree trunk and run past the Covenant and onto the elevantor before it wears off
And to find the Marine. Just go all the way around the map's edge and you will find him on the other side.

Yeah, it's pretty strange they show up on the motion tracker like allies. But you can actually see them. There are 2 on the top on your right, 1 down to the left and 1 right in front. Try killing the one in front and you can actually see him up close and personaly. :)

Oh, and about that flood body... where the heck is it? I've seen it a few times before but never found it again for some weird reason.

Uh, those "friendlies" are not Flood!!!!!!!!!
They are marines that just happen to stay ahead of you the whole way.
Does a group of "unknowns" armed with only assault rifles, shoot at some Covenant and then go down an Elevator sound like Flood or Marines????????
I'm all for the marine part.

If it was to build tension, firstly Bungie should've incorporated grey blips onto motion trackers meaning unknown and secondly, those grey blip should be all around the edge of your tracker, but just as a sort of faded echo.

Enter http://gamewinners.com and check out the Mendoza trick, because if you climb up the hill and walk for a while, you will find Mendoza, the one in the video. That could be the yellow signal

Let me explain...
As you go across, there are flood that are running around, but from a distance. But the organisims inside the structure shooting Assault Rifles are Marines. Flood don't shoot and then go down an elevator instead of finishing off their enemies.

Okay i went looking for the flood that were supposed to be outside the lvl and runnin thro bushes and stuff but i didn't see anything. While i was running around mendoza tho i heard an assualt rifle being shot in the distance, right after the burst i heard flood, i ran to were i thought the sound came from, and as i was past mendoza back towards where u start off it was real loud, like i was really close, but i still didn't see anything. Well a few moments later after standing still I saw a tracer round fly out from the flat trees and there were about 4 "friendlys", and out of now where they dissapered. Anyone kno anything about this?

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

In the books it says that they are marines right? They go down before MC i think. Cuz i always here gun fire and see tracer rounds flyong by before i get there. Then they just dissapear.
