As we all know, ODST is coming with a firefight survival mode, which is going to be a great addition to the Halo franchise. Treyarch's N**i Zombies was a big hit, and continues to attract thousands of gamers to it. People love survival modes, whether it be Horde on Gears of War 2, or Zombies on Call of Duty. I am looking forward to firefight intensly.

What are your thoughts? Do you think that firefight will live up to the popular N**i Zombies? Will NM lose its popularity with the release of firefight? Although we cannot judge immediately, we do have a decent idea of what firefight is and how it will be set up. I personally love this idea of adding survival modes to Halo, and I hope it takes the thunder away from NM.

Go Rams and Missouri!

National Socialist Zombies had one map at launch, and now has a whopping 3. All the maps play the same, with everybody rushing to one spot, watching some windows, and getting a random weapon.

Horde gets boring because there are only 10 waves, which then repeat 5 times over. Also, there aren't levels specific to the mode, and they don't play well with it.

Firefight has it's own maps, 10 maps, and random waves that keep everything spicy. Also, the skulls that increase difficulty don't just change health and damage, they change the way the enemy plays.

Of course. -blam!- Zombies isn't tough to beat.

I will never understand why it's so popular.

You forget L4D's Survival mode which is great although it does suffer from lack of variety.

It's very popular because it's fun conjuring up new strategies and getting achievements with friends. Survival modes win the fans over every time.

Firefight will surpass "Zombies" and then some.

Okay. Survival mode (which happens to be the genre for all of these modes) has a ton of high-intensity action. However, it is pretty much the same the entire time. Grab your weapon of choice, start the thing, find good camping spot, shoot at huge horde of Zombies and kill some special infected. About a minute in, you are pretty much fighting an endless army of tanks. It is the same thing every time.

I didn't really enjoy N A Z I Zombies. I thought it was too slow-paced and you just camp. I would instead compare it to L4D Survival since it never ends but why does nobody compare it to Marathon's survival mode?

It would be greater without the horrendous difficulty.
A Tank every 40 seconds?!

Good improvisation about... Hitler's army's name..

Firefight will definately surpass N. Zombies, simply because of the variety offered. N. Zombies is just camp in corner, shoot at waves of zombies.
Firefight will be shoot at waves, run from wraith shells, find tactical position, shoot more Grunts, leg it from wraith shells again, kill brutes and hunters, new round, new skull, new challenge. Yes?

You don't have to be good at Halo to see that Firefight offers more of a challenge, and therefore offers more gameplay hours and heart-pumping excitement than (German) Zombies.

your are obviously jaded, -blam!- zombies has 4 maps, none of them play the same, they all have something different to offer, and there is no window watching after round 10, if you do, you will die, no one "rushes" anywhere and the random weapon is an awesome strategy. Youve just been learned.

No. Nancy Zombies is slow, repetitive and boring.

So having 4 maps makes all the difference, does it? ODST will have about 10-15 maps to fight the Covenant on.
I only have Map Pack 1 for CoD 5 but that's because I realised what a waste of money it was, the game sucked! The campaign sucked! The multiplayer sucks!

And 10 rounds is an awful long time...

ten rounds is less then 15 minutes and yes having four maps makes all the difference because there is actually new items on each map, now im not going to say "I stopped buying halo 3 maps, I realized the campaign is dull, the multiplayer is broken, and Bungie is greedy" because then that would be nothing more than an opinion.

Should it have to?

A mythic member but I speak my mind to much.

Why are you avoiding saying -blam!-?
-blam!- is a word, why do you fear it?

Edit: why DOES bungie Fear the word /\/AZI?

How is Bungie greedy? It's Microsoft who make the prices...

Oooooh, so each map has a new item... So that's what you pay 800MS points for, eh?

And for saying the campaign is dull, you're clearly one of those short minded individuals who only cares about the action and can't appreciate a good story. Simply because the campaign was short.

And you call the Halo 3 part an opinion where as that hints you think the CoD thing is fact? Then why are you here?

Sure microsoft makes the prices HA, anyway look at my games played, they are mainly RPG's, tell me I dont like a good story, and I never said what I said was fact, and Each -blam!- Zombie maps has several Game Changing items+the other three maps that came with it, thats 4 maps for the price of 800 MS points compared to Halo 3's 3 maps for the price of 800, i take the better deal when I see it.

  • 08.16.2009 2:53 AM PDT

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

The basics are good, now it depends all on the maps. Will they have enough variety.

If only Bungie implemented a Flood and a Sentinel level, and a map that has all the enemies, vehicles and weapons. If it's just against the 5 Covenant species on maps that have 2 vehicles at most I can see this getting boring quite quickly.
