Subject: Weird thing about no dual wielding.

when i heard they were making ODST all i could think was "awesomeness would ensue!"

do you guys remember in halo 2 at the end of quarantine zone where miranda keyes was grabbing the index. Well after that the arbiter attacked johnson he knocked him out but miranda keyes was dual wielding SMG's and attacked him but wait, what the, why can a normal human with no armor, no special training, dual wield SMG's but an ODST, second best behind the spartan, can't, anyone get that? I'm not trying to be mean to Bungie but come on.

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

Because she wasn't aiming.

Golf Wang. Brony.

No offense, but when Miranda isn't leading something like a UNSC frigate she is kind of a dumbass.

Holy -blam!- shut the hell up about this.

Bungie took it out because obviously they felt it was needed to be taken out. End of story.

  • 08.16.2009 11:14 AM PDT

Or, more recently, when she held a Magnum and a Shotgun? If she fired the Shotgun, technically speaking, it would blow her arm off. At least hurt it, or break it.

The point is, both happenings were in cutscenes, where they're used for Story and Drama. It does not directly relate to gameplay. Such as the first level of every Halo, for example. It's completely a cutscene, but still considered a "level".

Retreating is not cowardly, it's just fighting in a different direction

well i think duel wielding is unnecessary for a stealth game bungie is trying to do with odst....

ODSTs' suits can't track more than one weapon at a time, meaning no reticule or ammo counter for the second gun.

That's a good point. Thanks

No, it's not a good point. You people need to stop looking for logical and canonical explanations for everything. Johnson can use the VISR. Does he have a helmet? Hell no! But it's a game, and it really doesn't matter whether it makes sense or not.

In ODST it has nothing to do with strength, they could hold two guns, it's a matter of aim. ODST's aren't that skilled to aim, if it was strength then they wouldn't be able to carry a turret

Which again brings us to the fact that Keyes wasn't aiming, haha.

The fight has been complete.... now get the cookies!

While we certainly share your enthusiasm for the return, we here at the Bungie.net community are mostly made up of snarky asses and jerks who will ridicule you for making a thread about something revealed months ago. We regret that your innocent intentions will almost certainly be replied with anger and sarcasm, and politely invite you to don your Flame-suit, because you just did the internet equivalent of jumping up the Construct lifts.

Dual-Wielding could make more noise, even suppressed. So if we dual-wielded we would blow cover easily.

It's a game. There are a few reasons why but im not going into detail. Just think about for awhile.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Have you seen the damage one SMG can do in this game? Two of them would just make it really easy. Of course, ammo would run out very quickly, but you could just get someone to trade off their SMG for something else, and have an SMG guy lay down the law on the bigger guys like Hunters and Chieftains.

Dude in real life when dual weilding pistols is actually really -blam!- hard no matter what anyone says. realistically ((which is a thing ppl complain about in halo enough as it is)) training ODST's to dual weild properly would be a waste of time & dual weilding is alltogether unconventional. Thats one reason its not there ok? enough said.

No doubt an ODST would normally be able to dual wield, it's just for gameplay reasons.

idiot. ODST's have no strength. just because they have armor doesn't mean they are strong. but yes, in reality they should be able to dual wield but it's a game. let's not over analyze and just love it how it is.
