Subject: Weird thing about no dual wielding.

why are you looking at this?

because Miranda Keyes is a commander, and has a different (more advanced) neural interface than an odst and hers allows her to use 2 weapons at once, also she was standing still when she was firing and didn't even get the arbiter's shields down.

ODSTs can hold two weapons too. It's just that their armor's HUD cannot track them, so they would have terrible (as in unusable) aim with them. And I don't think they would trade off their helmet for an extra weapon.

No, it's not a good point. You people need to stop looking for logical and canonical explanations for everything. Johnson can use the VISR. Does he have a helmet? Hell no! But it's a game, and it really doesn't matter whether it makes sense or not.

That's just in multiplayer, which isn't canon.

but wait, what the, why can a normal human with no armor no amazing strength, dual wield SMG's but an ODST, second best behind the spartan, can't, anyone get that? I'm not trying to be mean to Bungie but come on.

idiot. ODST's have no strength. just because they have armor doesn't mean they are strong. but yes, in reality they should be able to dual wield but it's a game. let's not over analyze and just love it how it is.

sry i didn't mean to put amazing strength but the armor still does make a difference

Where is everybody getting this crap about the ODST helmet's HUD? It's really quite simple:

ODST is a game.

It doesn't have to make sense.

Well it has been explained before that marines (including Johnson) have neural implants so there's your logical explanation as for why he can use the VISR...

...but at the same time you have a point, while there may be a logical and canonical explanation it doesn't really matter because gameplay comes first. Bungie took out dual wielding for gameplay purposes, not because of Halo canon or logic. However they explain that later is up to them.

Twitter | Nothing

Because it's called balance. ODST's gameplay is obviously not suitable for dual wielding. It's the same reason that you won't be shooting lasers from your eyes.

I think it will be a cool challenge, especially for the kids who only play Halo 3 and Halo Wars, this would totally piss them off, which would be funny as hell. As for me, I don't care, I mean, think about all the other cool stuff they give you, the low-light vision visor, the silent SMG, and the original Halo pistol(which was upgraded to be even better!). So if you want to complain about one thingthey took out, then just keep in mind how much they're giving us with this game.

"Welcome to the Greatest Show Unearthed"

maybe they should make it so you have three arms so you can do all 3 at one time

The reason why it was taken out for ODST is because to make you feel less like MC, to make you feel like a bit of a regular, bit i see your point that your trying to make but at the end of the day, nothing worth making a fuss about.

Because miss Miranda Keyes is bad ass

  • 08.16.2009 2:37 PM PDT

It was most likely taken out because Bungie believed it would ruin the gameplay to some degree.

  • 08.16.2009 3:24 PM PDT

Im shure she didnt wake up one morning and suddenly decide, I want to out rank all the marines!
she started out like a marine and went up in ranks...

Punch a bear in the face.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

I'll miss dual-wielding. It'll make Firefight a lot harder when Brutes come in when a quick PP Automag combo could've topped him.

But I remember one thing from an article Bungie did about the SMG. "It'd take a seven foot tall cyborg or an action star to pull off using two."

Miranda is a ship commander, and a ground commander. Why she's ever on the ground is ridiculous to me (Seriously, if she brought a squad of troops with her to free Johnson, I have a lot more respect for her intelligence).

i have to admit that commander keyes was pretty amazing but still some of her actions in the game like dual wielding a shotgun and pistol they just make no sense, serious if she shot that shotgun say goodbye to her arm.

GRUNT BUD!!!!!

well I could most likey fire two SMG's at once. the problem would be that it would be completely innaccurate and not help at all so why even have it
