Subject: Weird thing about no dual wielding.

I think its cause ODST actually rely a lot on grenades and it'd take them longer to reload if they were using two at the same time.

normal human with no armor, no special training

Ummmm... Miranda Keyes has her own ship and she's in the navy. Just because she's an officer and wears a pretty white uniform doesn't mean she has no special training. In fact,dual-wieldingI bet she's better trained than most marines.

But aside from that, I think the no dual-wielding thing is a gameplay thing. It's not really supposed to be consistent with the cannon or anything. In fact, I bet they had trouble doing it with the auto-mag because it can zoom in and stuff but anyway...

think about this, as an ODST, you can rip the chain-gun off it's turret and fire it just like Master Chief. Now, this is a weapon that is, according to the the window that displays if you hover your mouse over it in your status, 'heavy, even for a Spartan', and yet a mere mortal like an ODST can carry it.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Or, more recently, when she held a Magnum and a Shotgun? If she fired the Shotgun, technically speaking, it would blow her arm off. At least hurt it, or break it.
Not really. Since the pellets don't offer a solid wall for the explosion to push against, shotgun recoil is much more manageable than carbine or rifle recoil.

when i heard they were making ODST all i could think was "awesomeness would ensue!"

Special training? None you say, any MOS in the military requires special training, even a scrub needs special training. Think about that, especially a Captain of a Frigate??? No kidding, a child could do that, right?

Also, a few of us were talking during matchmaking and Halo: Reach is definitely going to be, not a first person shooter, not a third person shooter, but a second person shooter. Bungie is going to revolutionize the way you watch other people play games.

Where is Halo supposed to be a realistic shooter? Or when is any video game truly, perfectly realistic, even when it tries? It's a game, and it needs to be balanced. Bungie is shooting for a different look and feel here, so dual wielding was removed to help achieve that.

I wanted a gumball so I said "Yo devil you got change for a soul?"

Satan appeared and said "Yeah, yeah mosuckra! I got yo change right here just sign this contract and I'll give you your quarters!"

So I signed it, lost my soul, and got 4 quarters. I have never regretted this decision.

I'm actually glad there is no dual-weilding. Sure, it was good in Halo 2 & 3, but it needs a rest for now.

=)

ODSTs' suits can't track more than one weapon at a time, meaning no reticule or ammo counter for the second gun.

Enough with that explanation. If people start explaining why the we couldn't dual weild in halo 1 because the old spartan suits where just like ODST suits, then why the hell were the spartans dual wielding in halo wars.
