Lots of blood and gore. Yep.:  46%

Don't like blood and gore. Nope.:  14%

I don't mind.:  39%

The rating hasn't been officially announced yet, so anything is possible in Halo: Reach. Anything.

If the game is rated the usual M, then we won't be expecting much blood or gore, obviously. But what if Reach is rated MA 15+? Then there's an opportunity for some real *Honk*.

Some real *Honk* I would like to see in Reach, if it's rated the latter, is definately some stuff featured in the original Halo 3 ViDoc, Et, Tu Brute?
_____

Watched it? Good, now you must know what I ment by *Honk*. Moving on.

When I saw the gorey features in that video for the first time, such as the Brute ripping the marines arms off, and the Elite slashing both of a Brute's lower legs off with twin Energy Swords, finishing him with a stab in the stomach, I was literally wowed. I was a little disappointed when we didn't see those scenes in Halo 3 itself, but it didn't turn me off of the game too much, luckily.

I loved the bloody scenes from Halo: Combat Evolved, and I would like to see Halo return to its original roots. We didn't even have scenes like this in Halo: CE, but the stuff shown in Et, Tu Brute? just looked plain awesome. It's sad that they cut it out.

I don't know about you, but I'm in for this.

=)

NOTE: Yes, I made this exact thread in the ODST forum yesterday, but that was a mess.

Why wouldn't there be blood and gore? I believe every Halo based game has some sort of blood and gore in it.

I really dont care halo is a great game with or without the gore

  • 08.16.2009 4:24 PM PDT

lol

I think Halo 3 was a little less gory to appease the parents of the little children who play it constantly. The gore level was that of a casual game. I miss the days of Halo CE, where I could snipe an elite in the head, and every time I bunted his forever still body, a fountian of blood would spurt out. Not that this should be implemented in Reach, but I do miss those days...

definately, halo 3 looks like it should be rated E. all the colours, the ENORMOUS lack of blood, etc.

Just imagine sticking a gunt, and having him explode into a million pieces.

Yeah.. I'd like that. Especially after we were teased by the "Et tu Brute" ViDoc back before Halo 3 came out, and we saw things like Brutes pulling a marine's arms off, or an Elite cutting a Brute's legs off with an Energy Sword.

why the hell should bungie back down to a bunch of whiny parents whos kids shouldnt even be playing the game in the first place. if there kids have a xbox 360 (why cant parents just get there kids a ps2, its only 99$ and has plenty of kid friendly games with the same graphics as the wii) then they should be playing games like kung fu panda or lego indiana jones. i thought bungie was hardcore

play team fortress 2 and fallout 3. the gore they have in those games is badass and funny

  • 08.16.2009 6:39 PM PDT

I really hope they can incorporate it more, as long as they don't overdo it. I was excited when I saw dude get cut in half too. I was like YES! When u get sworded ur body cuts in half? z0mG! :(

Kick start a craze

I think it should have more gore. And I know "Gore doesn't equal a better game blah blah blah" but it can improve the cinematic aesthetic of it. Don't get me wrong, not like GoW style with bits flying everywhere, but enough to give battle a more gritty and desperate feel to it.

  • 08.16.2009 6:56 PM PDT

I think that halo should have alittle more blood and gore. I juts don't want it to get carried away.

I say, take Gears gore and tone that down a bit.

Agreed.

Hahaha did you seriously just quote and agree with yourself?

In that game its like messy and all over the screen. I think that would be a little too much, even with it "toned down a bit".

I agree with you there.

When I play Halo, read the Halo books, I imagine stepping into a universe of bloody war and horrific creatures.

I step into Halo 3 and I'm greeted with every colour of the rainbow.

Very true. I love the books and I just really, really want to see the desperate struggle for Reach. Just like the Halo 3 Believe trailer. You can see all the marines emotion and desperation, even though it wasn't for reach, but it's still awesome to see.

I loved the Et Tu Brute video. When the brute smashes the marine with a hammer I just went, "epiiiiiic..."

Bungie All Star Contest Winner Weeks 6,8 and 12

Less blood squirting to signify damage, and more of the realistic damage mechanic.

If you have played 5 minutes of Alone in the Dark, then you will know what I am talking about.

PERSONALLY I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE SAME AMOUNT OF GORE AS DESCRIBED IN THE BOOKS. THIS WAY EVERYTHING MATCHES UP.

~haloscout

Yeah, dude. I would have to say even Halo Wars is a little more gory than Halo 3(Blood pours out of Covenant like a fountain, but it's from birds-eye view,so it's rated Teen.) I don't want them to over-do the blood like in Gears and other games, but tone it so it looks just right. Because Halo 3 was unrealistic as far as that.

  • 08.17.2009 1:18 AM PDT

I wouldn't want them to get too carried away with it. Make it like Call of Duty World At War style blood and gore. That, imo, is the perfect amount of blood and gore for a war game.

EDIT: Someone beat me to it. Oh well.

I don't want Halo to be a game that's played by 12 year olds only because it's so gory.

It's okay as it is at the moment, with 12 year olds that like the game for no apparent reason and are better at Lone Wolves than I am.

I don't want more of them.

  • 08.17.2009 1:23 AM PDT

I don't want this game to be completely gratuitous and gory, but I think it needs to be more violent than the past Halo games. For an M-rated series, the so-called "violence" is pretty light. I don't think we should necessarily be seeing guts spilled everywhere, but maybe more blood when soldiers are shot, plasma shot burns/bullet holes in armor, etc.

  • 08.17.2009 1:36 AM PDT

i hate groups

YA I THINK IT NEEDS TO BE MORE REALISTIC AS IF IT WERE IN REAL LIFE ON THE BATTLE FIELD WITH PEOPLE GETTING INJURED AND EMOTIONS FLOWING. OUR HEARTS SHOULD BE RACING WHILE WE PLAY NOT IN SOME UNICORN FANTASY. THEY SHOULD MAKE SPOTS OF BLOOD IN AREAS WHERE U GET SHOT AND POOLS OF BLOOD WHERE U DIE AT LEAST I MEAN WHATS A SWORD THAT CANT SLICE THROUGH SOMEPNE OR SOMETHING
