In the Halo 3:ODST cutscene, it seems like the ride is pretty smooth in the pod. But in Halo 2, when Chief descends down onto Delta Halo with some ODSTs it seemed pretty rough. Cany anybody tell why Bungie would change this?

Why the hell don't people use meh?

Chief is taller then ODSTs so he had to crouch and Rookie has the size of a teen?

Hey guess what!? I play CoD more than Halo, but I'm not an annoying fanboy. I love CoD more, but I like how involved the Halo Community is...

Because since chief weighs 1000lb his pod had too much G-force coming down so his Parachute or whatever broke off his pod.

I meant good maps

Conditions could have been different. Also, that may have been the chief's first drop.

Causing his Pod to Plummet down even faster than anyone but still landed correctly.

No the parachute is meant to help speed down the fall once that is done it goes off and then the thrusters engages

*facepalm* Then the Parachute Broke off because of the Gravitation pull and G-force from Chiefs pod. Please read carefully next time.Thrusters are used when you are off course so you blast back into position.

Maybe the chiefs pod didnt have a dumb AI in it like the other pods do. At least I think they do. Remember reading it somewhere. Oh well, just speculation...

Oh god...... All the ODST pods lost the chutes in the fall they're meant to fall off it has nothing to do with the weight of the user.

See you on the battlefield.

It may have been air turbulence, which does seem to build up when crossing from over water to over land, and MC's pod happened to land in just such an area.

How about i get your source for the weight chute theory? Look we both wanna prove our point as the right 1 so in the end this thread will be your and my discussion about something dumb anyways and yet if you watch the cutscene again you'll see the all the chutes go off.

Then why don't regular marines have to wear some kind of SCBA system? Since they don't, we have to assume that the Halo rings have a similar atmosphere to Earth.

]My source is common knowledge, since we only saw Chiefs pod's Parachute break off, plus the only reasonable probability could be from, Chief weighing more than any one and him having
Gravity work more Force against him.

  • 08.16.2009 5:08 PM PDT

when i heard they were making ODST all i could think was "awesomeness would ensue!"

first of all don't know, second of all WHO CARES!
like im sry im not trying to be mean (k maybe just a little bit) but who cares
"oh My GOD! he's falling really bumpy but he isn't there must be some kind of conspiracy theory!"

Okay so you say only chiefs chute broke off? I highly suggest you watch the cutscene part where they land do you see any chutes from the remaining pods hanging? Nope so this is the pod:

You fall you with high speed you use a chute to slow down (Chief or ODST) either of them then the thruster engages once chute falls off.

Hmm maybe the chuts fold back up into the Pod! Logic sir keeps the Old man up at night.

Oh god..... this conversation is now about parachutes in 2009.

  • 08.16.2009 5:15 PM PDT

lets end this arguement, the parachute thing always comes off and the thrusters slow it down even more and they help ajust the trajectory.

my sources are halopedia and the halo 3: ODST field guide.

There we have the correct solution to the arguement.

  • 08.16.2009 5:17 PM PDT

Not quite sure, but according to certain laws of physics, shouldn't all objects fall at the same rate. I'm not sure if the pods looked different, and thus different wind resistance, but the speed should have been roughly the same.

Maybe just an error.
