Not quite sure, but according to certain laws of physics, shouldn't all objects fall at the same rate. I'm not sure if the pods looked different, and thus different wind resistance, but the speed should have been roughly the same.

Maybe just an error.

the anwser to the thread question is that halo is a ring world and gravity is coming from all over the place and wind may also contribute.

another thing is the game engine is different and mabey also bungie thought the shakey ride would annoy fans.
