Just rock to the rhythm of the funky Rhyme, So i can get busy just one more time.

Throughout the Halo series the physics (gravity, jumping ability, etc) of each game and the movement of the Spartans (or Elites if you prefer) has changed ever so slightly.

Halo 1 - Very little jumping abiltity and fairly quick foot speed

Halo 2 - Larger jumping ability, slower freefall, moderate foot speed

Halo 3 - About the same jumping ability but slower free fall after a jump, faster free fall if you just walk off a ledge, and slower foot speed.

All these things change the way the game is played more drastically than you would think. my biggest problem with the physics of Halo 3 is the foot speed. Bungie in their all knowing ways came up with a solution to this problem by allowing players to customize foot speed but unfortunately I still must put up with it in Matchmaking.
I believe that faster foot speed leads to more intense games and generally more fun. So for Halo: Reach i would really like to see a return of Halo 2 physics. Anybody agree with me on this one? Post some physics ideas for Halo: Reach.

I'm having a PM conversation with a user that was banned and he totally agrees that halo 2 physics were better also. He said that it made the maps work so much better with the way they could be played which i totally agreed on.

The lockout out remake Blackout is almost identical to lockout but the dimensions and change in physics completely change the way the level is used. there aren't half as many shortcuts and such which really dulls the map down. i mean i like Blackout but it pales in comparison to its predecessor.

The Lockout/Blackout comparison is probably one of the best examples of how a slight tweak in physics can drastically change gameplay.

I think you got it wrong.

1. Halo 1: Big floaty jumps that didn't go far. A bit faster than Halo 2 pre patch, and slower than Halo 2 patch 1.1. Halo 2 1.5 may be faster. Haven't played in a while, but it seemed that way when I tried out 1.5 patch.

2. Halo 2: Big floaty jumps pre patch. Smaller jumps with heavier gravity post patch, but they went farther because they fixed the physics glitches and made the player run faster.

3. Halo 3: Moderately big floaty jumps that go far. Slower running speed by around 10%, but you have speed options. Sadly the gravity options suck so you end up either really heavy or default.

I hope Reach combines Halo 2 Speed with Halo 3 free falls.

You really think Halo 1 jumps were big and floaty? I mean I haven't played the game in a long while so correct me if I'm wrong but i recall very low jump height in comparison to Halo 2. And I didn't own Halo 2 until after the 1.5 patch so i really couldn't comment on how it performed before the patch.
