because people don't realize how much an education matters in today's world. i was only 13 when halo 3 came out and went to the release and school, will be doing same for ODST. you shouldn't be skipping school or work for a video game.

this---^ The only reason i'd skip school is because i'm sick. Besides I wouldn't want some idiot psychopath to shoot me for a copy of a video game.

Reach MMO. Here's to hoping.

And the people that believe "the hardcore playlists would be more popular if the rules were strictly MLG" can come off it, now. If you're not willing to support something close to your own setup, there's no reason for us to believe that cloning our own lists and stripping the variety down will attract more people. -- Shishka, Bungie.net

Not going to lie, I did for the launch of Halo 3, but noticed a major problem with that. An addiction is something that effects your life in a negitve way or if you become mentally dependent on it (yes that can go for video games, or weed, ect.) now skipping school or work will regardless effect you in a negitive way. I understand the need to want to play it but doesnt anyone else think thats going too far?

Work and school affect my life in a negative way and therefore I am going to skip.

I'm not going to lie to skip work, I'm just gonna take a vacation day doing something that I really enjoy. It is the same as taking work off to do a race, or float a river, or travel, or anything. One of my favorite things is gaming, is it bad to take a day off to game with my buddies as opposed to any other activity? People will take work off for different reasons, one is not more important or worthwhile than another; because everyone has different likes and opinions.

Rule 6: Respect the Admins

“It’s their website, and they can do whatever the hell they like with it. You’re a guest, and hassling them about how they run things is akin to going round your Auntie’s house and curling one out in her tea-pot.”

Keep in mind that yes you should go to school/work/etc. However I do feel everyone should be entitled to personall holidays.

I can only speak for americans as I admit I'm ignorant to other nations usual work/holiday schedual etc. etc., But I know Your average american, (to qualify as an average american you have to go to work/school on a daily basis, can't be a dead beat, and your not a movie star/model), works very extensively and doesn't really have that much vacation time. Hell alot of the average working americans don't even get vacation time. Hell I know quite a few people that don't even get sick time anymore, and the sad part is that some of them are nurses.

So missing a day of work/school isn't really the end of the world if your going to make up for it. Consider it a personal holiday

People have every right to skip work or school to take a personal holiday to enjoy themselves. These people will make up the work (if they're in school) or take a sick day/switch shifts (if they work). The "getting priorities" straight argument about this sort of thing has always bothered me- people can and do have different priorities. They aren't skipping to be "cool", they aren't dropping out or declaring school no longer matters in the long run, and they are doing something everyone here loves to do (presumably)- playing video games.

Personally, I never skipped high school to play a game, but that's because I absolutely hated making up work and had 3 to 4 AP classes each semester in my junior and senior year. However, if you're fine making up work, there is no problem taking a day off. And, please, can everyone on the internet stop telling everyone else they have "no life" for this or that reason? That's a completely empty statement; if one enjoys their life without harming others, they are making the most of the one life they've got. Work is supposed to be the way to get what you need so you can do what you enjoy in life, not the other way around. In fact, you really should enjoy your work too, if you're lucky enough to be in such a position.

Someone isn't going to "fail at life" if they miss a few days of school, especially if they make up for it. That is just absolutely ridiculous. We could all stand to relax some. Peace :)

Stay in school!

I don't have school on the 22nd. Only on Mondays and Wednesdays. =)

  • 08.18.2009 3:36 PM PDT

No, I don't see a point in skipping school. Even if I did, I'd be making that work up later. Just not worth going through that, making a fib, etc.

Urk has spoken!

And I would never skip school for a game! No offense Bungie, but your game isn't enough to make me skip school.

Infidel!!! just kidding.

But everyone should go with Urk's advice on this, and get an education.
Taking a day or 2 off of work isn't the end of the world.

"It's better to live one day as a lion, then one hundred years as a sheep." -Italian Proverb

A Marine scout sniper was once asked what he felt when he killed terrorists.
His response? "Recoil"

"Though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I fear no evil, for You are with me."

I'm not going to.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones since I only have class on Thursdays and Fridays this semester, so I won't have a problem with it. However, if I did have class on the 22nd I certainly wouldn't skip since it already costs a ton of money to attend college classes.

And no offense, but judging from the spelling in most of the posts in this thread, it seems like the majority of posters could use a little willpower and stay in school on the 22nd. Just saying....

I'm sure that skipping one day of school will not effect the rest of your life. Unless it is the SAT day or some major exam. A good game comes out a couple of times a year. Take a day off and enjoy it. To the people who think that it will effect you in a negative way. Loosen up a little bit.
