Subject: Ideas for Reach gameplay

What would be something new that you would like to see incorporated into the game? Be it gameplay, weaponry, vehicles, you name it. Please post here.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

1: Covenant Campaign. It is has been missing since Halo 2. And even Halo Wars which SHOULD have had one didn't. (Campaign in an RTS is always dual sided and used to introduce the player to each of the separate factions)

2: Larger Covenant Arsenal. It really doesn't make sense that the UNSC, the spitting image of today's militaristic faction would have more weapons to chose from than the Covenant, a more advanced faction with more species, more troops, more technology, and more resources.

3: ALL of the game should be on Reach, I want to see the entire battle from start to finish, from a few different points of view.

4: Better weapon balance. As a general rule in Halo, Plasma should harm shields, while bullets should kill, to attain this Bungie designed the game so that Plasma does practially nothing to the health, but bullets STILL kill shields fine? this is dumb. One of two things should happen: 1 - Bullets do MUCH less damage to shields, or 2 - Plasma gets a large damage boost against health, killing about as fast as a bullet weapon drains shields. Why do I bungie beatdown an AR with a PR, but when the fight lasts, the AR always wins? It is ridiculous, and stupid. Needs to balance better.

5: Dual wielding either returns to the way it was in Halo 2, or gets removed. When I dual wield, I want to feel like giving up grenades was WORTH IT. Otherwise, whats the point? Then nobody dual wields, and when nobody dual wield, why not just remove it? It would be a great way to re-introduce power to plasma weapons.

I would like to see the difficulty of the game is based of enemy tactics not brute strength, numbers, and ridiculous accuracy, that just makes the game feel like your getting cheated.

1. Destrucable scenery.
2. Larger maps.
3. More realistic weapons (sway, weight, size, portabliliy).
4. More realistic vehicles (speed, splash damage, when I crash into something I want to die, not bounce off)
5. Realistic damage. (shot in the leg, you limp. Shot in the arm, you use a one handed weapon)

It should be more tactical Halo2 kinda felt that way but with halo 3 on legendary as soon as you poke your head out you get shot and to kill the average brute it takes about 3 sniper headshots, and theres parts where theres atleast 8 surrounding you with jet packs and half have bruteshots. Thats not fun thats just an easy -blam!- way to make a game hard, if you want a game to be fun and hard you gotta make it where yo have to outsmart the enemy.

You can't kill what's dead.

Stand. Fight. Resist. S2F.

1. Destructible environments.
2. Real time battle damage.
3. Larger arsenal, especially for Covenant.
4. More vehicles that actually affect gameplay. (Cut the Prowler or update it)
5. Play as the Covenant.
6. More balanced weapons (What that Legendary guy said about plasma vs. ballistic weapons.) Nobody uses plasma because they're incredibly weak against health.
7. Do we REALLY need spike grenades? Or flame grenades? Cut them and keep the good old fashion arsenal of four frags and four plasma. Maybe a EMP 'nade, because that can actually affect gameplay. Spikes and flame grenades were one of the most pointless game additions IMO.

I would like to combine things halos of 1.2 and 3 for example you look at the return of the magnum, rocket launchers and to address the power grab two aguijoniadores. it had more weapons and big smoke.
they have more armor and armor you have to separate the legs and feet can be elite or Sparta be other species as a raw, grunt, hunter, a marine, if it can be a flood, and so on. and if humans can customize your face Sparta, to be without a helmet, the armor appears ............................ . and it may be a bit bloody but who operates a large explosion could fully exploit that was only your arms, your legs or your armor Destro or a stain of blood that is not very logical that an atomic bomb will explode and stay on perfect condition but they have intact veihculos and can handle more things like the pelican or the Phantoms or if it can be up to scarab ........................ a and
......... well that is apart of life as a shield to you tubieras pictures of the life of the halo 1 is also able to use things that can not be used as backpacks bruts of rockets and weapons of the arms of hunters and may already be too much to ask or suggest, but to put more games than asecino, crazy ball, capture the flag. I occurred to me one (if not like the idea) would be to have two types of strengths in each team with good weapon and shield on which each team would have been 3-4 but the devil with little life and no weapons very good, good goal would be that hard to kill each type of the devil and another team who finishes with the devil on the other team wins and besides that I suggest ALL OF THIS EXELENTE Well thanks for listening to my comments and suggestions. good to hear but not read. Thanks hope you take into account, I look forward to new things to draw. :) M.E.B. T15BL

i want 3 beat downs to be a kill, not two.- say one melee would cause 50% damage to your shields and another would drop them, only if you where 10% Shields or less should then a melee kill.

i want a missile launcher to be the new major anti vehicle weapon. not the spartan laser. the MISSILE launcher (not a rocket launcher) would only have one missile in it. you would lock onto a vehicle and fire. it would home in and kill the vehicle. much like a missile POD, but its a actual weapon instead of a support weapon( ones that make you slow) and then you drop it on the ground and move on. Key things are- only one shot total, maybe two. and fire and forget- when your done with it, you throw it on the ground

i would also prefer the same magnum from halo 3 just make it 4 headshots to kill instead 5, think of it as a short range, slow firing BR. perfect starting weapon .

Sprint Function- nuff said

change the Equipment to where all of it could be used in matchmaking somewhere

make the plasma weapons more useful against non-shielded opponents- kinda-of like halo 1

a longer and more cinematic campaign- i would like to switch in between the different Spartans throughout the campaign

Firefight mode to return from ODST

the silenced SMG from ODST

custom content cap set to more than 100 objects, i hit it all the time

Forge to return improved, Theater to Return Improved

Some Grenades we Can use in Matchmaking

more customizable armor. ( ie. Create your own emblem, more colors than a primary and a secondary, Visor color, more armor perms to name a few)

Brutes In multilayer, size em down like they did with elites in halo 2, they add in a more diversified experience, and there heads are in the correct spot

when a energy weapon is empty( ie. Beam Rifle, Spartan Lazer) i throw down that useless piece of junk on my back

Spectre seriously needs to make a come back. Splattering with the brute equilvalent is as hard as splattering with a mongoose. Also, the brute version was ugly.

i dig the big fish,

heres an idea why not put them both in, more variety the better

Looks like some good ideas, I myself would like to see some faster paced gameplay, the whole jog and jump gameplay wasn't tactical.

If Reach was to incorporate a new forge...(and it bloody well should IMHO)
To be able to customize the actual terrain of a map on forge would be simply amazing, although this should only be done on a totally new, blank map for this purpose only. It would seriously take forging to a whole new level and also introduce many more hours of game play.
I remember using the map editor which came with Far Cry Instinct and I also remember being amazed by it.
And I know for a fact that the maps that would get produced out of the the new forge would be visually stunning and amazingly fun to play as some maps from Halo 3's current forge prove to be very fun to play by the use of only putting objects together. I myself am a forger (although not a very good one :P), and I know how frustrating it can sometimes be when your trying to get that certain height on the ground or to try and make a nice even slope with the use of boxes. It would also allow Halo forge maps to be much more "environment friendly" as many popular forging maps only consist of indoors. The possibilities would be endless.

Helmets. For some reason I had always wanted the option to be able to take them off. Maybe this could be implemented in the game, and for appearance you could also customize your characters face, reducing the number of visual clones you encounter. Although this would only work if you are able to play as Marines. Which brings forth my 3rd suggestion. =D

To be able to play as marines in multiplayer would be pretty awesome IMO. Although I'm not sure if making them able to jump as high as Spartans would look very appealing. This is a very rough idea, but basically my only wish is for Marine skin to be implemented in the multiplayer. I don't really care if they are able to do all the superhuman things Spartans do, just as long as you are able to play them :)
Maybe you could add different attributes by giving them advantages and disadvantages over the Spartans and Elites, such as not being able to jump and run as fast, but you are able to prone and lean. (Basically army tactics :P)
And along with the facial customization feature, it will also make Halo movies (which seem to be quite popular) more appealing by having unique characters.

These are basically the main features in which I would like to see in the game. Hope you agree with them =)

I think you should make it maybe a little more tactical but without loosing the halo feeling. it would be nice to make the dual wield a bit more usefull and balance the damage that plasma fire and bullet fire does

3. More realistic weapons (sway, weight, size, portabliliy).
4. More realistic vehicles (speed, splash damage, when I crash into something I want to die, not bounce off)
5. Realistic damage. (shot in the leg, you limp. Shot in the arm, you use a one handed weapon)

3. Why would sway and weight affect a Spartan? Weapons are normally sized, they just look small because you're big. Don't know what you mean by portability.
4. Speed is fine, don't know what you mean by splash damage and a crash would not affect a Spartan.
5. Once again, it wouldn't affect a Spartan.

I was also thinking, not to make it sound like COD or anything, but make thinking through an engagement fairly important, I mean, I know if you're a super spartan you're going to win, but make cover and aim matter more when you're facing down 5 elites.

Make grenades more realistic, explosions on the frags were nowhere near powerful enough, I felt like I was throwing paintballs.

Sniper aim was always really balanced too, even while in air or moving, maybe make it slightly more realistic in scoped mode.

A more gritty feel would be interesting too, make the weapons FEEL powerful, it shouldn't take an entire AR clip to bring down a grunt, less ammo, more damage.

And AI could improve, especially on allies, make marines use cover and not get waxed every firefight, ODST's should be in squads and fight tactically, would be great to see.

Keep posting, there are some great ideas here.

I liked the air-based fights like the 2 in The Covenant from H3, more of those would be nice, maybe a couple more flying vehicles to play around with, and maybe make enemies react to different places where you shoot them, so if you shoot them in the leg they run slower than normal, shoot their hand they have slower fire rate etc etc

Maybe some more support weapons , or make support weapons more realistic than in H3, as in you wouldnt take exactly 200 bullets with you when you rip off a turret, maybe it should be a random amount between 150-200 or whatever the highest ammo capacity is per ammo belt, or maybe have a small chance of a jam with fast fire rate weapons which you need to hold [Insert button here] for a couple of seconds to fix, accuracy drift on more of the weapons, or even some backfires.

I agree with making the AI smarter, the marines can coordinate their attacks without saying anything more than taunting whatever theyre shooting at, they should sometimes say what theyre going to do instead, so the player can concentrate on one target with the marines, or maybe having the player ordering the marines around, e.g. push [insert button here] to open a menu which gives a couple of commands like hold fire, which lets you jack a vehicle without having the marines shooting at you too.
Also, the Halo CE health meter would help, in H3 you never knew how far you were from death when your shields died.

Bip. Bap. Bam. Welcome to Reach.

If anyone has seen the movie "Vantage Point" I think that should be how Reach plays out. First play as 1 Team of Spartans, then another, and another, however all the events in each level should take place at the same time, then, we move to an enemy viewpoint, where you face marines, and occasionally Spartans. And Space Combat. We Need Space Combat. No Battlefront 2 style though. Capital Ship Combat, preferably Pillar of Autumn. At the very end, the planet gets glassed, and you view John-117's escape onto the Pillar of Autumn. That sounds pretty awesome.

Options. I don't care what kind of game they make as long as I can play it how I want. They took a huge step in this aspect with halo 3 but I want to see it brought to the next level. Also bring back the weapon starts like halo 2 where you can choose any weapon to start with. A few options that have crossed my mind are a weapon editor, a map creator (not editor), toggle on/off dual weilding in custom games settings.
